I THROW MY TOYS AROUND
(E. Costello, C. O' Riordan)
from the Rugrats
soundtrack
This song was written by Elvis Costello, who also sings on the track. It was recorded on April 23, 1998 and mixed the next day, and it saw release on the soundtrack of the Rugrats motion picture. Lyrically a song about a child having a fit, it's a laid back song, with Gwen giving a pretty good pouty and mischevious performance on the vocal. No Doubt played this song at the soundchecks during the Hawaii shows in May 1998.
I've got no time for fairy stories
I'm not a little girl
So you can leave me all alone
And turn off the lights as well
If you are frightened
Then listen
But I don't think you'd like it
Such a nice kid
Nobody's lookin' now
I'll throw my toys around
Somebody's being very bad
I wonder who it can be
Somebody's gonna get in trouble
I know it isn't me
I'm just a little angel
But you don't know what I've done
When your back's turned
Nobody's lookin' now
(nobody's lookin')
I'll throw my toys around
(with Elvis:)
Pick up those building blocks
Chop off the baby's locks
Swing dolly by the hair
Put down that teddy bear
Slam dunk a happy clown
I throw my toys around
I've got no time for bedtime stories
I'm not a little child
Everything makes me furious
And everything makes me wild
If you are frightened then whistle
And I'll come runnin' you
As you boo hoo
Nobody's lookin' now
(nobody's lookin')
I'll throw my toys around
Nobody's lookin' now
(nobody's lookin')
I'll throw my toys around
(Elvis -) I throw my toys around
(Gwen -) I'll throw my toys around
(Elvis -) I throw my toys around
(Gwen -) I'll throw my toys around
(Elvis -) I throw my toys around
(Gwen -) I'll throw my toys around
(Elvis -) I throw my toys around
(Gwen -) I'll throw my toys around
(Elvis -) I throw my toys around
(Gwen -) I'll throw my toys around
