Iris was the #1 song of the year on New York City's Z100's Year-End countdown! It was also #3 on Rick Dees' Top 98 of the year and #2 on the Canadian Hot Top 20! (Thanks, Jen!)

Bill reports that "Slide is VERY prominently featured in the trailer for the imminent relationships comedy Playing By Heart, starring folks ranging from Sean Connery to Gillian Anderson to Jon Stewart." I checked online however, and Slide does not appear to be on the movie soundtrack.

The New Year's Eve show is the Fiesta Bowl Block Party. The Goo's are headlining for an expected total crowd of 150,000! Tickets are on sale in advance for $10 at Fry's Food and Drug Stores; or call the Fiesta Bowl at (602)350-0911. They are $15 at gate. Other acts include Kenny Wayne Shepard and REO Speedwagon. The Goo's will play at 5th Street and Maple.

On February 5th 1999 the Goo Goo Dolls are releasing the Dizzy E.P. This is a Japanese only release on Warner Brothers Records Japan. I do not have a track listing but the E.P is going to include VERY rare rarities and B-sides. Look for it on the net and on import in February.

Here's a recipe for the Goo Goo Dolls' patented Lemondrop Martinis.
According to frontman Johnny Rzeznik and bassist Robby Takac here's what you do:
Wet the rim of the martini glass with Vodka and then sugar it, drop a lemonhead
(as in hard candy) in the bottom of the glass, mix equal parts lemon juice and
Belvadere Vodka, pour some granulated sugar in the mix, and shake it for 20-30
seconds. Now the important thing in shaking is to make sure you do it to the
right kind of music. Johnny and Robby recommend a nice rumba or bossanova (and
if you don't have either, Robby says Hawaiian music will work too).
Tickets go on sale tonight at 7:00 pm (wrist band deal at
ticketmaster outlets, mayhem on the phones!!) Buy them quickly...these
shows always sell out in a heartbeat!!
The show is Saturday, December 12 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los
Angeles (649 W. Jefferson Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90007, (213) 748-5116)
This show will be broadcast live on KROQ (106.7) for those people who
can't get tickets...
Hard Rock Live on VH1 will be airing the Goo Goo Dolls and the Black
Crowes on Saturday, December 12 at midnight. The show will re-air on
Monday 12/14 at 7pm, Thursday 12/17 at midnight, and again during the
week. Check your local listings.
