12/31/98 11:01:20 - Happy New Year's Eye everyone! Have a safe and enjoyable night!
On the Billboard Charts for the week of 1/9/99:
- Slide is still #8 on the Adult Top 40, still #7 on the Modern Rock Tracks Chart, and down two spots to #18 on the Hot 100 Singles Chart
- Iris is still #9 on the Adult Top 40 and down three spots to #25 on the Hot 100 Singles Chart
- Dizzy Up The Girl dropped four spots to #27 on the Top 200 Albums Chart
Iris was the #1 song of the year on New York City's Z100's Year-End countdown! It was also #3 on Rick Dees' Top 98 of the year and #2 on the Canadian Hot Top 20! (Thanks, Jen!)
12/30/98 12:18:35 - One hard drive crash and almost one week later, we're back! The latest on the January TV appearances is that it's up in the air. Inside sources say that the Goo's are now not on Conan's schedule for January 13th or 14th. Rumors are also abound about a Rosie appearance, but the date is not specified yet. I've heard the 13th, 14th, or 18th.
There is an article about Mike in the February 1999 issue of Modern Drummer magazine! I haven't checked it out yet, but it's gotta be good!

12/24/98 17:26:58 - Have a Merry Christmas Goo fans -- from the World of Goo!
On the the year-end Billboard Charts for 1998:
- Iris was #4 on the Airplay charts, with a record-setting 18 weeks at #1 on that chart
- The City of Angels soundtrack was the #7 album of the year
On the Billboard Charts for the week of 1/2/99:
- Slide passed Iris into the #8 spot on the Adult Top 40 chart -- Iris was #9
- Slide is down a spot to #7 on the Modern Rock Tracks Chart
- Slide is up a spot to #16 and Iris is down four to #22 on the Hot 100 Singles chart
- Dizzy Up The Girl is up 3 spots to #23 on the Top 200 Albums Chart

12/22/98 00:33:42 - Not only will the Goo's be performing on the American Music Awards (1/11), but they will also make appearances on Conan O'Brian (1/13) and Rosie (1/14)! (Thanks, Lori and allstar magazine!)
Thanks to Luke Zimmerman I've updated some of the tabs! Slide has undergone some major changes, and small changes have been made to Iris and Dizzy.
Kat sent a review with pictures from the Columbia (12/9) show!
On the Radio Top 40's:
- On Rick Dees' Top 40, Iris stayed at #10 and Slide jumped 4 spots to #11
- Slide was at #91 on Rick Dees' Top 98 of 1998. The top 48 songs are next week, expect Iris to finish pretty high!
12/21/98 18:25:28 - Minneapolis was a great show, and I hope to have a review up soon! For now, read Danielle's review of the show!
Also, Kristi sent me pics to add to her review of the Oklahoma City (12/7) show!
Iris was #5 on MTV's UltraSound Videos of the Year and #6 on VH-1's Top 100 of the year! Also, the Goo's are supposed to be on VH-1's "Best of Hard Rock Live" on 12/26, possibly playing stuff not seen on last week's HRL!

Bill reports that "Slide is VERY prominently featured in the trailer for the imminent relationships comedy Playing By Heart, starring folks ranging from Sean Connery to Gillian Anderson to Jon Stewart." I checked online however, and Slide does not appear to be on the movie soundtrack.
Slide has fallen to #3 on the MuchMusic countdown. (Thanks Marlow)
And Johnny is featured in the new Guitar World Acoustic magazine! He is on the cover and there is a lengthy interview with him in the magazine! The guys are also in the latest Circus Magazine, with pictures I believe of both Johnny and Robby. (Thanks Tom!)

12/17/98 14:09:26 - Golden Globe nominations are out, and Iris did not get nominated for Best Original Song... however, Alanis's "Uninvited" did....

- Iris is down 2 spots to #8 on the Adult Top 40 chart, and #18 on the Hot 100 Singles Chart (down from #14 last week)

12/16/98 10:23:23 - Not only do I have confirmation of the New Year's Eve show I told you about yesterday, but I've also heard that the Goo's will be also be making an appearance (don't know if they are performing though) on the American Music Awards broadcast on ABC on January 11! (Thanks, Kathy!)
The New Year's Eve show is the Fiesta Bowl Block Party. The Goo's are headlining for an expected total crowd of 150,000! Tickets are on sale in advance for $10 at Fry's Food and Drug Stores; or call the Fiesta Bowl at (602)350-0911. They are $15 at gate. Other acts include Kenny Wayne Shepard and REO Speedwagon. The Goo's will play at 5th Street and Maple.
01:25:13 - For those of you who are getting the Slide import single, I do have the lyrics to Nothing Can Change You. Also, I cleaned up the tab to Girl Right Next To Me.
Slide is down to #2 on the MuchMusic charts, but Iris is #1 in Italy! Also, for those of you who missed the Goos on Loveline, there will be a rerun this Sunday (12/20) at 12:00 AM on MTV according to Rock-On-TV. (Thanks, Kyra, Tristan, and Marlow!)
12/15/98 16:14:00 - I also heard a rumor that the Goo's are playing the New Year's Eve block party in Tempe, AZ on 12/31/98.
12:51:45- Collene sent me her review of last night's show in South Bend, IN! Rumor has it that Frogpond may open the rumored Goo tour next summer!
Also, Dizzy Up The Girl has indeed gone platinum! (meaning it has sold over 1,000,000 copies)!
11:41:02 - The Goo Goo Dolls were at the top of the Rolling Stone Radio Network's Pop Chart yesterday with Iris! For today:
- Iris is #5 on the pop chart, #11 on the guitar rock chart, and #7 on the modern rock chart.
- Slide is #5 on the guitar rock chart, and #18 on the pop chart

On February 5th 1999 the Goo Goo Dolls are releasing the Dizzy E.P.

This is a Japanese only release on Warner Brothers Records Japan. I do

not have a track listing but the E.P is going to include VERY rare

rarities and B-sides. Look for it on the net and on import in

February.

        Here's a recipe for the Goo Goo Dolls' patented Lemondrop Martinis. 
According to frontman Johnny Rzeznik and bassist Robby Takac here's what you do:
Wet the rim of the martini glass with Vodka and then sugar it, drop a lemonhead
(as in hard candy) in the bottom of the glass, mix equal parts lemon juice and
Belvadere Vodka, pour some granulated sugar in the mix, and shake it for 20-30
seconds. Now the important thing in shaking is to make sure you do it to the
right kind of music. Johnny and Robby recommend a nice rumba or bossanova (and
if you don't have either, Robby says Hawaiian music will work too).

In addition to the previously announced Sydney date, the Goo's are playing Melbourne on 2/19 at the Palais Theatre and Brisbane on 2/21 at Festival Hall (venue holds 4,000 people). Bachelor Girl is the supporting act for all three shows! (Thanks, Michelle and Carina!) Additionally, Lena wants to hold a get together before the Sydney show for all the Aussie Goo fans that can make it to that show. She can arrange accomodations and transport, if you need help.
