Long time GGD fan and had my first opportunity to see them this past week
(8-12-03) at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, with Lisa Marie Presley opening
for them.
Very good show with a lot of high energy.
Only wish John would try to hit the higher octaves on some songs instead of
going the lower route, as I think that his range is the one thing I like
best about his voice. If they slowed down some of the songs, I'm certain
that he could make it to the note(s) that the song was recorded at.
As for Robby, he went absolutely nuts! He reminds me of a cross between Ted
Nugent and Sam Kinnison! I think a great cover that the GGD could do with
Robby singing would be "Wild Thing!" :>)
Did a great rendition of Tom Petty's "American Girl."
Looking forward to seeing them the next time they make it back to Illinois.

I know it's already been posted - but this was a fantastic show! Our first Goo show and my hubby and I had a great time! Good seats, full moon, not too hot (for August in Illinois) and a great show. This was the first concert DH and I have been to in a long time - I think the last concert we saw was Elton John/Billy Joel the first time they toured together!
The last time the Goos played Springfield, I had just had our son a few months before and we didn't have the extra money to go.
I wasn't real impressed with Lisa Marie Presley but I think that's mostly because I cannot understand her when she sings. Does anyone else have that problem or is it just me? Her last song was Heartbreaker (old Pat Benatar) and she sounded great on that one.
Can't wait to see the Goos again next week in Rockford!
