So, if you want it I'm going to give it away for free (I'll even pay for shipping). All you have to do is send me a list of what you think the five greatest rock songs ever are (hmmm, where could I have gotten this idea, lol) and I'll pick who I'm going to give it to from that. My life is total chaos right now, since I am moving, but I have two quick birthday announcements for tomorrow. They are: Michelle palmtreemh@hotmail.com Rose Mommyalt@aol.comYour name: Michelle First, Michelle's response to my email: Where you are from: Novi, MI How old you are turning: 31 (yuck!!!) Which lyric/line of a Goo song has the most personal meaning to you? Why? I have two! The following song line I like because there is so much truth to it. Scars are souvenirs you never lose, the past is never far -NAME The following song line is probably the one that is most a reflection of what I feel I need to always keep in mind. I have a tendency to worry about what other people think and not do what I want. An example, I want a second tattoo but my parents have expressed their disgust with the idea so I'm having second thoughts. If I really want it, I should go ahead! I am 31 now, it is not like I still live at home and they can kick me out, lol! Do you listen to yourself, never live for someone else -BULLET PROOF And, Rose's response: My name is Rose,I'm originally from Detroit Michigan but have lived in Southern New Jersey for the past 15 years with my husband and 2 kids. How old???? isn't that impolite to ask?? Oh well,I'm going to be .....(oh gosh!!) 39 (eckkkkkk). Now the question. What Goo song or lyric has a personal meaning for me and why? This was difficult for me to answer, but upon rereading all the lyrics from all their songs,I was able to find something that moved me. It's the following from the song "Naked" "Yeah,i'm hidng in the fallout Now I'm wasted They don't need me,don't want me,don't hear a word I say" I am a teacher, and I teach 14 year old emotional disturbed teens, and I hear these words every day from my students. This is how they describe their lives and these are the words I have to try to erase from their hearts. It's very difficult to try and help a person see their self worth when all their short lives they have been told how bad they are,or how worthless,or even worse...just plain ignored. Rather than expose themselves to those who want to help they hide, whether it's inside their own minds, or behind a false facade they refer to as their lives. The song further states about the years you can't take back,,,,and it's a damn shame that it's the years that are vital to your growth, both physically and emtionally, that are already wasted for them. I have in my years been able to help some kids re adjust their thinking and are now somewhat productive in their lives. Unfortunately, many more are lost---either in drugs, or the streets. This song helps me to realize that everyone has a voice--and sometimes even when they say "stupid" things (for the lack of a better word--sorry) the words have meaning to the speaker: open your ears and listen,it's a painless process, something anyone can do. I think now I try harder to listen...to my own kids especially. I also notice that when I now meet with parents,I stress the word LISTEN more than once hoping to get the message through. I have also played the song in my class. I must admit,to make a point,I elaborate incorrectly; I say that the writer of the song knows how they feel and through the song...is saying, hang in there---there's a way out!! He knows--he was there..I guess if it helps 1 child,a little white lie isn't too bad! Please take a few minutes to send birthday wishes directly to Michelle and Rose, not the entire list. Sorry I have to be so short...need to go decide on what color Ralph Lauren paint to use in my new house...any suggestions, my "Sam"? Happy Birthday Michelle and Rose! kelly ...spread the Goo... ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Jan 2000 18:52:19 -0500 To: From: "Stacey Kay" Subject: enough Message-ID: <01bf607c$b97188e0$b25ad6d1@uymfdlvk> ------=_NextPart_000_01F1_01BF6052.D09B80E0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable I don't know about anyone else, but I'm really tired of seeing 5 emails = each day from the same name. Apparently there has been a lot of fake autographed stuff on ebay lately. They're trying to keep a handle on it, but you should always exercise caution when paying large amounts for stuff. Additionally, from me now, one good way to check on these things is to look at stuff on the various sites that has been autographed by the Goo's (and confirmed as theirs). check my site or Joe's GGD Online (www.pce.net/joejr), both good sources. The lyrics are: Down on the corner, Out in the street, Willy and the Poorboys are playin'; Bring a nickel; tap your feet. The song is on the "Willie and the Poor Boys" album from 1969. Do yourselves a favor and go buy a CD or two from some of the bands who influenced the GGD's like Cheap Trick, The Replacements, Creedence, etc. Ya never know, you might like it. My recommendations, Cheap Trick = In Color, The Replacements = Pleased to Meet Me. Boy do I feel old. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Okay, so I just thought I'd share a little Goo fun I had last night. Anyway, I was listening to Z-100, a radio station here in the New York City area. Every Saturday night they have a show called Pajama Party, which is hosted by two female DJs, Sharon and Danielle. One highlight of the show is something called Hottie of the Week, where people call in and "nominate" someone, and then they tally up all the votes from all the other people who call in, and announce who won. So, I decided its about time that Johnny got some rightful recognition, and dialed the phone. Well, after many rings this guy finally picks up and asks me who I'm voting for. I told him, "Never mind Hottie of the Week, Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls is the Hottie of All Time, Past Present, and Future!!" He was so hysterical from my answer and how adamant I was about it, that he decided to put me on the air to speak to Sharon and Danielle. They were freaking out, screaming and laughing about how much they agree about Johnny being so BEAUTIFUL. Then they asked me, on the air, if I had a fave "look" for his hair, do I prefer it LONG or SHORT, to which I replied, PUHLEASE...that man can shave his head BALD and he'd still be GORGEOUS!!! They agreed that JOHNNY IS BEYOND BEAUTIFUL, and decided to award me with a bunch of hair care products for such an amazing choice of a man NO ONE ever seems to call in for. LOL Anyway, its not even as if they generally put every caller on the air, they LOVED my choice. So see, even though Johnny wound up LOSING (yeah right) to JC of Nsync, at least me, and the two female DJS, Sharon and Danielle got our point across!! LOL Thanks for listening, and if I annoyed anyone with this "fun" story I apologize. Please don't tear into me publicly via the Lists, if you want to "Tell me off" about how shallow I must be as a Goo fan, please don't aggravate everyone else. Contact me. And by the way, I am a fan since I was a small child, and I have a deep LOVE and RESPECT for Johnny as a musician, as well as the other members, Robby, Mike, and Nathan and Dave as well. But truth be told, I do find Johnny to be an exquisitely fine-looking man and I really don't care who takes issue with that. I enjoyed last night, and just thought id share it...bye! :) Thanks for your time! ~Heidi~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2000 00:41:05 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org, ttb@onelist.com, hdtg@onelist.com From: DizzyEyes@aol.com Subject: LOOK AT ALL THESE! Again I'm not trying to be picky here about prices but to me it seems like $2 per tape for a total of $4 and then $3.20 for shipping. The post office will give you the box that fits two video tapes perfectly, and priority shipping ( w/o) insurance is $3.20 for two tapes any where in the US. Insurance is either another .50 or .80 That's about $8 total. I figure you could charge maybe $10 for both tapes and you'd still be making $2 for you time and trouble. >-----Original Message----- >From: John & Heather Sleen >To: goo@mailinglists.org >Date: Wednesday, December 01, 1999 11:48 AM >Subject: Two Tapes of Goo!!! > > > >Both Tapes for $24.00. THAT'S A BIG FAT LIE! SHE'S ENGAGED! she said she was engaged to some older guy...i forget the name, but if you're really interested in knowing email me and i'll call her up and ask again. she seemed absolutely positive that this was fact, KZJ is no doubt engaged to this other guy, with a big fat ring on her finger. so i dunno, just thought i'd pass it along. i don't know how this all started, i haven't been able to go through my email very meticulously lately but did notice a LOT of emails about john and KZJ so i thought i'd input a new piece of information.... til next time, -diana GOO GOO DOLLS ROCK! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2000 16:49:28 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: Sparkle627@aol.com Subject: clear something up for me.. Didn't he also say this on a Jay Leno appearance? But they didn't deny it on MTV on New Year's. It seems they like to vary their answers to this question. Does anyone who knew them "back in the day" know if they really were the Sex Maggots? Or if they had another name, what was it? All you know is that a special bond was formed...and then...the experience just simply left you spellbound in their dust! For me, when I heard the song Black Balloon ... the words were so powerfully written that they left me...awe-struck! So to help me understand "why I was feeling this way," I asked the man behind the lyrics, John Rzeznik, his thoughts on how an emotionally-charged song can have such an impact on one's soul. "It's a song about saying good-bye to a friend of ours who completely messed her life up with drugs. There was nothing much that was being said about it, so I felt that I should do something," describes John. "Lyrically, it came to me, I believe that the words can hold up on a piece of paper on their own...and (to me) that's a very important part of a song...to be able to hold up it's end," quips John. "Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon story, so being in a situation like that... this song is very special to me," remembers John. On a personal note: "I would like to say thank you for believing in us and sticking by us...through everything! A lot of bands come and go...so fast! It's nice to actually be around for a while and have our fans grow with us," discloses John. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2000 17:42:46 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: TheRevoIution@aol.com Subject: A Note Regarding The Replacements...For Those Who Care.... Message-ID: Just in case some of you have not had the opportunity to listen to one of the major inspirations of the Goo's, The Replacements, you really should do so. I've listened to about 7 of their songs and they are all great. One of my fav's would have to be "Merry Go Round." Westerberg truly is an amazing writer. So pick up one of their albums at CDnow.com or anywhere you choose! You probably won't be dissapointed. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2000 17:03:01 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: BabyMutey@aol.com Subject: Goo Goo Dolls Shirts! Message-ID: <88.3c5211.25b4eb95@aol.com> Dear GOObers, I have decided to put my artistic talents into some GOOey use. I have been doing this for myself and friends and family members who are Goo Goo Dolls fans. I am making handmade Goo Goo Dolls T-Shirts for those of you interested. I will do any size (small, medium, large, extra large, or double extra large) in either a black or white shirt. They can basically have whatever you would like on them. You may send your own shirt that you would like done and you will get a discount. Names can be added to the shirt to make it more unique and personal. I will do other items, sheets, pillowcases, etc., at an additional charge. The following is a list of what I have already done: * white tank top with "Dizzy" lyrics around the torso in black lettering. * light blue shirt the word Dizzy written in fancy cursive purple lettering across chest * white t-shirt with an "Iris" word picture (a word, such as Iris is written using pictures, in this case several little Iris flowers) in color across the chest * red t-shirt with a black balloon cascading down the front with the words "Goo Goo Dolls" on the string * black t-shirt with charicatures of each band member in white * a bed sheet featuring all 6 album titles, a quote from John, the band charicatures, and other little GOO things I have other ideas that have been drawn out for most of the Goo's records and songs, old and new. Tell me your ideas and we can come up with something, or let me know if you like one I have listed. Please remember these are hand painted. They do not resemble a shirt you would buy at a concert or in a store. They are very original and they will not be found anywhere. I will trade depending on what you want to trade. Feel free to email me with questions, trade ideas and lists, etc.. Please no flames, this is only for fun. I am charging for the price of materials and labor. I will charge $30 per t-shirt. Price can change slightly depending on difficulty. Thanks guys and gals, ttyl! Oozing Goo, Cindy ------------------------------ End of goo Digest ***********************************
