A while back, I posted this transcription of the VH1 show "The List," which appearantly three people read besides me (no, I'm not hurt, I know you all really love me). I guess since it was at the tail end of the "Age Wars" people were using the delete key with wonderful abandon, and many missed this post in which KELLIE MARTIN (that is where she comes in here, people who emailed me, wondering what the heck I was talking about her for....) nominated the Goos for "Iris" for Best Love Song of All Time. And if you feel the strange need to write someone thanking Kellie, as I did, who knows why, her unofficial main page, I believe, is www.kellie.com. Enjoy. I was just curious, And second, In the A Boy Named Goo CD jacket , you know how there is a picture of a table with a bunch of beer bottles and chips and stuff, does anyone know where that picture was taken? Was it at one of the guys' houses? LASTLY, Also in the A Boy Named Goo CD jacket, It says the names of the guys in the band in the lower left hand corner, and it says: Robby: Bass John:Guitar and vocals and the GEORGE : Drums, Now I thought that by this time that Mike was already in the Band and George was outta there? But they do thank Mike Malinin in the thank you section of the jacket. Please le me know if you have any answers to these questions! THANKS if you read this far and one more thing IS ANYONE GOING TO THE OCT. 20 UMASS CONCERT? IF SO LET ME KNOW THANKS MAR ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Oct 1999 17:00:37 EDT To: Mar1445@aol.com, goo@mailinglists.org From: CHAZROOT@aol.com Subject: Re: [GOO] Lauri Kwasnik/and cd jacket stuff Message-ID: <0.c686aa2.25325875@aol.com> Hi Gang, Lauri Kwasnik was Johnny's girlfriend before he met his wife, Laurie Faranacci. They were together for years and lived together for a while. Lauri Kwasnik is an artist/photographer and videographer. She did nice work. She did the Goos first video for "No Way Out" (off the JED album). I even had her do a video for my old band, the Living Daylights. Last I heard, she had moved to Toronto, Ontario Canada, which is about an hour north of Buffalo. The pics inside A Boy Named Goo are not from any of their apartments or homes. George did play all the drums on that CD, and was kicked out just prior to the tour. George wrote a good portion of the lyrics in the old days. Here's a general snapshot of how they used to write: Johnny would come up with a riff. George would write the lyrics, and Robby would arrange the parts and fine tune the songs. George has really never gotten the full credit he deserves. Hope that helps. This is 90 minutes of the Goos at their best. Johnny was in a great mood that nite. Highlights of the show include the complete Name story, Sweet Home Alabama with Flat Top and Girl Right Next to Me. These CDr's were made from a tape of the concert. There are not soundboard quality but what you would hear if you were in the audience. You can hear everything that they are singing and all of their conversations with the audience. For example, you can hear why they play Girl Right Next to Me. Johnny and Robby talk to a girl about her sign. Then at the beginning of the song, Johnny breaks a guitar string. The song continues because of Nathan but you can hear Johnny say "I'll take another guitar anytime." The set list is as follows: 1. Dizzy 2. Long Way Down 3. Lazy Eye 4. Slide 5. Black Balloon 6. Bulletproof 7. Naked 8. Name with extended story 9. January Friend 10. Fallin' Down 11. Full Forever 12. Broadway with band introductions 13. Another Second Time Around 14. Flat Top with Sweet Home Alabama 15. Iris Encore 1. Girl Right Next to Me 2. Burning Up 3. Hate This Place 4. Two Days in February As a bonus, I will add another song - an acoustic version of Name performed by Johnny and Robby at a Boston radio station on 10/10/95. This song is soundboard quality. The total cost is $25 - which will include mailing. If you would like to trade, we can discuss. One item that I am looking for is a good video of last year's New Year's Eve show in Tempe, AZ. Anyway, I listened to it, and I was wondering of the acoustic version of Slide is the same as the one on the BB single. Just wondering. Au Revoir! Caity P.S. I'll keep those of you who are wondering posted on my Junior Formal progress, a subject which is very sensitive. My best friend just asked a guy who said he'd tell her the next day but avoided her at school and refused to talk to me or her, and never called her back. I'm so mad at this kid, you don't even understand. What makes it worse is that she's liked him for a year, and I'm so mad, I'm gonna kill him. (i remarked at his flower!!) and saw robby as well....h'es so adorable! LOL (they both were) my friend kept harrassing a roadie for his dragon t-shrit but he wouldn't give it up! anyway they let us in at 7-ish and well that bit cuz it was rainging but i suppose it could have been worse! *grin* fern opened and they were actually pretty goo-d!! my friend bought the cd and they signed it for her...pretty neato! tonic came on...rawked like i knew they would...they are a very talented band and if you'd didn't know of them before you won't forget them now....they cuss a bit more than we expected....but ah well it's a f*ckin concert!! *wink* played their current single......AND their past hits.....and the title track off thier new album out in stores november 9th then....of course...the goos....they were in EXCELLENT form!!! *grin* SET LIST FOLLOWS: Dizzy, Long Way Down, Lazy Eye, Slide, There you are, Full Forever, Black Balloon, BUllet Proff, Naked, Name, January Friend, Cuz you're gone (with A Thousand words) Broadway, Second time around, Flat top, Acoustic #3 Iris, ENCORE: Just the way you are (yeah!), Burnin' up, Hate this place, and 2 days.... they came out with so much energy we could tell the show would be one of their best! it was being taped for a showing in the net in november! kewl!! i didn't make the videos cuz we were too far away and i guess we didn't look like half clothed chicks! the second verse of name was entirely cut out...he didn't even bother to sing it at all! (that was odd!!!) the name story was a little different and ehre's how i remember it: so how does it feel to be in college??? man i'm gonna have kids one day and i'm gonna send them to college...i want all girls tho...no boys!!! cuz boys turn 13 and they want all your shit!! girls turn thirteen and they say "love you daddy can i have 20 bucks???" ANYWAY, i'm afraid to have my girls away at college tho....cuz you know what happens the first semester? you take a hit off a joint and the romeo frat boy starts lookin goo-d! then romeo says come back to my place....let's talk.....so you go...and then he gives you a beer......*sound effect of beer opening* and another and another....and pretty soon romeo frat boy looks REALLLY good....and you realize this is the first time the leash has been let out so far that you can make your own decision! "hell i can f*ck him if i want to* next thing you know...you wake in the morning and it's like *yawn* damn my head hurts....where am i??? OH GOD PLEASE TELL ME I DIDN"T....i didn't sleep with him...and you look over and there is romeo *snores* and you tip toe out of the room...and have to walk alllllllllll the way back to your dorm.....in the SAME clothes you were wearing last night! IT'S THE WALK OF SHAME LADIES!!! but i have a solution.....i say invite romeo to YOUR room....do what you want with him...then kick his ASS out!!! make him walk allllll the way back ...... *grin* moral is better to have lived and have a few regrets than not to have lived at all......INTO NAME..... John played the BEST guitar solo in cuz you're gone...it was amaizing!! i mean i was floored!!! (he called it his 70's tribute) i loved it...right into a thousand words....which he altered a bit.......(threw in the i wanna f*ck you line) BUT i haven't seen them perform that since 95....so i adored it!! i was the only one screaming at the top of my lungs.....the crowd was made up of primarily newer fans...BUT my friend appreciated it a lot...sooo!!!BTW if anyone gets a bootleg of this concert you HAVE to let me know!!! ANYWAY, all in all one of the best performances i've seen in a while...they were soooooooooooo on tonight.....except that john seemed a bit pissy in the beginning but he changed his mood when he got more into the concert!!! *grin* JUST THE WAY YOU ARE was awesome!! regardless of it being my favorite song!!! *wink* and of course the go psycho version of 2 days killed as well!!! *grin* OH ALMOST FORGOT!!!! i emt two nice gals from the list!! sweets the both of them!!! it was great to meet ya'll!!! *huggles* aight...there it is.....let me know what you think...i'm off to bed....i can't stay awake any longer!!! *YAWN!!* ~one extremely satisfied customer.... ~kristen *someone sorry sad like me of the ttb* ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Oct 1999 15:25:40 EDT To: ttb@onelist.com, goo@mailinglists.org From: HEIDI1026@aol.com CC: HEIDI1026@aol.com Subject: Re: [GOO] 10/9 Champaign show review Message-ID: <0.b3470e0b.25324234@aol.com> Hey Goo World!!!! Okay, so I just finished reading that awesome, detailed, incredible Review of last night's show in Illinois. Considering that post to the list the day after the first show on this tour, I must say that the writer of last night's review should be thanked, or at least I sincerely hope that you appreciate when we get such great info about shows that obviously all of us cannot attend. (If you dont recall the first show review I referred to it went something like this........."And DON'T ask me about the set list or what Johnny wore.........!!! That person was not too nice, and as I recall the sticker on one of Johnny's guitars says "MEAN PEOPLE SUCK". So I'm sure he would agree which was the nicer writer of the two reviews. Look, the way I see it is we are on these lists to share info and enjoy this group together. So to deliberately write something so mean-spirited doesn't make sense. Why post anything about the show you went to if you are going to be so nasty about it. It doesnt make sense. To tell people not to ask any questions about the SET LIST??? Isnt that a vital piece of concert info? So people, continue going to the shows, have a goo-d time and dont bother to come home afterwards and berate us in your "alleged" reviews, because frankly I'd rather not be on the receiving end of your wrath! Sorry if this annoyed anyone, please email me privately so as not to continue the annoyance. I just felt strongly about this and I certainly get enough nonsensical emails daily, at least this one pertains to the lists we are all on. Thanks for listening, and thank you KRIS for writing last night's review!!! Hope everybody is doing well:) Acoustic Iris can be found in two places (at least these are the two sources I have it from): 1. Dizzy Up The Girl Import from Japan. ** Acoustic Iris is the bonus track on this one. I think it is about $30 total, but I can't be for certain. 2. Iris Import Single from German. ** This single has Slide, Acoustic Iris and Acoustic Slide. This would be a great find for anybody who is looking for both acoustic versions of this song on one CD. Hope this helps. I bought the Import album online so that may be pretty easy to buy, but I have to warn you, you will be buying a regular DUTG album and an extra bonus track for like $30.00. If you want to do that, you can do that. The Iris Import Single might be harder to find. I haven't seen it online and the only reason I have it is because my fave CD store in town had it (woo hoo!!). I believe I paid about $11.99 or $12.99 for this single, but I think with both version on the acoustics on it, it is a GOOd buy. Hope this info helps everybody. Have a GOOd Week alrighty? In cities where the tour stops for two consecutive days, the Goo Goo Dolls and Tonic will perform only on the second day. That means that the bands will not be playing Oct. 8 in Champaign, Ill., or Nov. 13 in El Paso, Texas. On those days, the fair's technology booths will be open, and lesser-known bands whose work is posted on the MP3.com website will perform. The tour kicked off Tuesday in Iowa City, Iowa. An area dubbed "The Village" highlighted new products and technology for digital music distribution. http://www.thebox.com/local/index.jhtml anywho, thought i'd share the article. also, i saw the preview of "three to tango" with matthew perry, a week or two ago, with "slide" in the preview, now every preview i see "slide" is not used. is this like the "meet joe black" incident? cause i know they had to stop playing "black balloon" because the goos didn't give permission, or something like that. i was just wondering... :) ~rachel ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Oct 1999 14:51:49 EDT To: goo@mailinglists.org, TTB@onelist.com From: "Dïzz¥GïrL ïRî§M奷" Subject: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKEY!also mp3's and abng cd Message-ID: <19991010185149.86689.qmail@hotmail.com> hey peoples:) How's everyone doing?Sorry for posting twice but I just thought I'd share this:) I called the radio station to request a goo song and dedicate it to Mike for his birthday.Anyhoo I called and the radio guy picks it up and I tell him I want to request a goo goo dolls song dedicated it mike.he said alrighty.Well after an hour of sitting in front of the radio having to go through BSB and britney spears:( the first chords of Black Balloon start!I run up and start taping my big mike tribute.LoL.And the stupid loser dj starts talking about some radio game crap. Then finally he gets to mike(this is all during the guitar part in the begining by the way) he says "and a happy birthday to Mike MILLION of the goo's"!?!?!I was fuming at first but then I found it funny:)LoL.Sorry this is so pointless but I had to share:) Well to make this UN-pointless:) I'm having lots of problems downloading goo MP3's.I searched on Lycos and I can't download a single one from there! And others always say permission denied or server is busy:( Can anyone help me out on this?I would appreciate it alot! Thanks. And happy birthday to the kewlest drummer around!Mikey!:) Luv Amber ps:this is a quick question. How many cd designs are their of a boy named goo?I have the pink one with lime green dots.Or is it green with lime pink dots...i don't know somethin like that though:)Is there a different one?Just wondering:)Bye! ~*ClosestToHeaven~* of the TTB AKA ****DizzyGirL**** *Keeper of Johnny's great hair* *Keeper of Robby's cute laugh* *Keeper of mike's drum sticks* ************************************ ~*JuSt SLiDe InTo GoO & GeT DizzY~* *********************************************** http://www.geocities.com/johns_dizzygirl *********************************************** * * * * k e e p * * s m i l i n g * * * * * * * ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~ VisiT mY HangOuT!& SiGn My BoOk PLEeze ~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Castle/4264/ ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Oct 1999 15:07:51 EDT To: goo@mailinglists.org From: "Brandon {old man sitting in the young mans bar}" Subject: Eastern Michigan Show 10/14/99 ?'s Message-ID: <19991010190752.59182.qmail@hotmail.com> Hey everyone~ I would just like to get everyone who is going to this show to Email me and let me know if you want to meet. Anyway, I have a question. What is the story behind "22 seconds?" Is George the one who sings it? I thought it was pretty funny but was just curious about the story behind it. Went to the U of I show this past Saturday.....4th show for me this summer, and it absolutely ROCKED. 'Cuz Your Gone' was truly the highlight of the show. The interlude - A Thousand Words - was just breathtaking. Words cannot adequately describe it! You are all in for a wonderful surprise!!!!! Message-ID: <19991011194938.14013.qmail@hotmail.com> Hey people... Okay, I was just wondering...On DUTG, after the last song (Hate This Place), if ya keep your stereo on & turn the volume really, really loud, ya can sorta hear singing/talking/guitar playing softly in the background (I'm not quite sure which)...Does anyone know what they're saying/playing?...I know that I can sorta hear John's voice, & a guitar playing or something...Maybe some of ya who have the cd can hear it better (I very stupidly bought the cassette)...So thanx to anyone who can tell me what I'm talking about...I'm not quite sure... Oh yeah, also to all those people going to the Montclair concert, we should be finding out when the tix go on sale today...Or at least I've heard...No update on the show at mp3.com yet, though...Anyone who knows anything about the show, e-mail me... One last thing...My friend told me that John was on this radio station, z100, during the Interactive Lunch on 10/9...She said that there was an interview thing, & then they played a lot of gOO music...It's a NY radio station, so I doubt it since they're out west for the MP3 Tour right now, right?...Or maybe it was pre-pre-recorded...Well, whatever... ~~~*dizzupthisgirl1003*~~~(on Yahoo)~~~ insideout1003@hotmail.com ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Oct 1999 12:54:27 -0700 To: , From: "Rachel Yuhas" Subject: Re: [GOO] HiddenTrackOnDUTG?OrAmIWrong? Maybe there's something on teh DUTG import CD with extra tracks, but I don't think there are any on the regular one. *^*Amanda*^* In a message dated 10/11/99 2:56:01 PM Central Daylight Time, yuhas.r@ghc.org writes: << Maybe I'm an idiot, But I have the CD, and I didn't hear anything after hate this place. Hope all is well. Anyways, since I always seem to run out of time with the birthday things I'm going to start John's early this year. If you are interested in sending something to me to put in a box for John, e-mail me. I will probably be getting a card for him from the list. His birthday isn't until Dec. 5th but I decided to start this early, just incase someone wants to make something crafty for him that will require more time. I as thinking since those 3 Buffalo shows are around the the time of his birthday, I could send the box to one of the lucky people who get to see them in Buffalo and have them give John the box, so anyone going to the Buffalo show that could get it to him and would do this for me, e-mail me and we can work something out. So if you are interested in sending something for John's birthday e-mail me and I'll give yah all the details and everything. Again I'm just starting this early so everyone that wants to send in something for John has the chance to get it to me on time.
