NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--June 10, 1998--On Saturday (June 6) Garth Brooks sold over 61,000 tickets to four upcoming shows at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City (July 9-12). In doing so he broke the building's ticket sales record set by The Grateful Dead in 1995, when they performed three shows in front of more than 48,000 fans.
Brooks has also scheduled appearances on the Grand Ole Opry, playing both shows on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27. He will also appear on TNN's ``Opry Backstage'' and ``Grand Ole Opry Live'' on the 27th.
In other Brooks news, Exxon Company USA's 1998 Survey on Driver Behavior revealed that he placed second on a list of preferred passengers to take on a road trip. Robin Williams took first place with 22 percent of the votes; Brooks tied for second place with Helen Hunt, garnering 15 percent of the votes. John Travolta and the cast of ``Seinfeld'' tied for third place with 10 percent of the votes.
