Garth Brooks Breaks Elton
John's Record in Winston-Salem
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(Entertainment News)----Feb. 23, 1998--On
Saturday, Feb. 21, Garth Brooks' fans in Winston-Salem, N.C.
snatched up over 50,000 tickets for four shows at the Joel
Memorial Coliseum, scheduled for March 25-28. The first three
shows sold out in less than two hours. Brooks broke the venue's
existing ticket sales record set by Elton John in October 1997 -
one show, 14,356 tickets.
Brooks is currently in New York preparing for his stint as host
and musical guest on ``Saturday Night Live'' this Saturday, Feb.
28. He will return to Nashville on Thursday to talk to country
radio broadcasters during the opening session of Country Radio
Seminar.
Brooks' all-new, two-hour NBC special, ``Garth Brooks: Ireland
& Back,'' airs on Wednesday, March 4, at 8:00 P.M. (EST).
