Title: Ticket Pre-Sales frustration
Post by AirHej on May 19th, 2010, 9:16am
There is a pre-sale today for Darien Lake for IM members beginning at 3pm and Citicard holders at 10am. I checked out the Citicard one. The best I could get for 2 seats was the 200 level. I did a single search, was able to get dead center 100 level, but 9 or 12 rows back. The seats are $69.50, which is bad enough to begin with, but when I saw the $14.50 convienience charge attached to it, I said no way.

Am I a cheapskate? I love the Goos and all, but $85 to see the Goos at Darien Lake? Come on. I've paid much less to see bigger acts in the past at that venue.

It seems like those seats shouldn't even be that much! I have never heard of the place its at, and I actually know a lot about US cities (that sounded so very know it all, haha). A lot of people are having frustrations with it. If it were me personally, I would still probably buy the tickets, even if they are over priced. I would not pay much higher than that, though.

I absolutely get what you're saying.  I was sorting out my IM passwords and account info last night and I noticed that it listed my past ticket purchases.  When they last played at Darien Lake in 2007, the highest ticket price was $49 so I was pretty shocked to see this year's price.

From the shows that have already gone on sale, ticket prices are all over the place.  Some have a high price of $50 and some are over $75, before service fees.

I feel pretty lucky that I got to see the Goos twice this year already for $20 and $25 when I would have happily paid twice those amounts.  I guess it'll average out okay for me when I factor in the summer shows.

I don't think you're a cheapskate.  $85 (x2) is a lot of money for a night out.  And I won't get started on VIP nonsense again...

I ended up going through the IM pre-sale and got the GA pit. Those tickets were slightly cheaper than what I was seeing on Ticketmaster, not to mention closer to the stage. The platinum Darien Lake seats were I believe Sec. 101 Row 8. The pit is directly in front of Sec. 100, so it would seem they are better seats.

Basically, it's going to be a mad dash to the GA pit. Very reminiscent of July 4th, 2004 in front of City Hall. I had front row along the railing that day. Maybe the same on July 23rd. Haha.

(I'm the person (nmf016) you were posting back and forth with on the IM)

I am so very pleased with the GA pit.  It's not even listed on the Ticketmaster site.  I'm hoping there's very limited access to the pit.

Haha, okay cool. I remember your old user name from a few years back. I hope the access to the pit is very limited. I'd hope they have bracelets or something. Otherwise, it could be bad.

Have any of the other shows had a pit like what Darien is doing?

(I have the same actual user name here.  It just has a facade for the moment)

I know that Darien Lake gives out wristbands for the first handful of rows in the 100 level and security will check.  I hope there's an additional wristband for the pit and that the pit is enclosed.  Otherwise, it will be madness.

I have been following the other summer shows relatively closely to see what I was going to get for my shows and no other shows so far have had a GA pit, which is why I was caught completely off guard.  I'll be going to Cleveland as well and that venue normally has a GA floor and for the GGDs, it's assigned seating.  I guess you cut down on the GA pits when you're selling $150-$2000 VIP tickets for the front rows.

Yeah. The only time I ever saw Goo (hope to see more this summer!), the pit was amazing. I won't get into it again, haha.
