Well the summer's nearly over and it occurred to me that I forgot to do the beginning of the summer banner contest ... oops. It's so hard for me to be productive when my kids are home. So that being said ... just put your thinking caps on for new ideas. I'll add more details later.

I'm going to ask ... as I do every year. Are you all happy with the color scheme here? Do we still like the colors or are we ready for something completely new? What do you think? We need to decide before we start making banners. I was thinking a nice blue might be a good change. A vibrant blue as the highlighter color and softer for the backgrounds. I don't know. If you have any ideas or just want to keep it as is let me know.

Ok ... let me have it. What do you like? Not like? I'm not convinced I like the main blue background. I like the lighter colors and the blue highlight colors but I'm not sure on the blue background. What do you guys think? Too bright? Dark?

My first reaction when I came to the site was that the blue behind the Banner picture might be a bit too dark. It may just be my PC, but I can just barely make out the "Login"/Message icon.
I was thinking it might show better contrast with the various words on the banner if the background there was the same "cadet blue" that is a bit further down below the banner, like the color above the forum headings.

I like how the post fields alternate between one shade of beige and a slightly darker shade.

Thanks. I was thinking that exact same thing too. I asked my hubby and he liked the top so I left it ... he liked the contrast. But I kept thinking it was too dark. I appreciate the input.

Yeah, that's a lot easier to read the text now.

Maybe someone else will have some input.

I was addicted to the green we had, but I'm a blue fan from way back, so this is a nice change.

I really loved that green too. But it's been like that for 3-4 years now. It was definitely time for a change.

Okay. I think I have all the color kinks settled now. It's time for the banner contest. I may even have a prize for the winner this year. I have a Dizzy Up the Girl album flat and other stuff lying around I may hand out. So get ready ... here we go.

As you can see our new color scheme is blue so just make sure your banners match. If you're interested in using the bright highlighting color it's #0000CC. As someone who works with photoshop, I know those color #s are useful. Please keep your banner size to 620 pixels X 150 pixels. �That's about it in terms of rules. Let's say the deadline is one month from now so ... October 8th, 2009 Send your banners to me in a PM. Also don't forget to include WOG on your banner somewhere. I'm going to post an old winner as an example.

Have fun! I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Is everyone working on those banners? I haven't gotten any submissions yet so I'm hoping you're all working hard. We need some fresh banners for the year. I know there's lots of talented Goo peeps out there. Let's get going. Only about 2-1/2 weeks left until the deadline.

There's about a week left for the banner contest and I only have one submission so far. Come on all you Photoshop gurus I know you're out there.

Okay. It's past the deadline and I only have 1 banner submitted for the contest :-/ We can hardly have a contest with only one entry. So, I will extend the deadline until the end of October in hopes that a few more entries come in. If not, I guess the one entry I currently have will be up top for the whole year.

Well it's November 1st which officially ends the deadline for banner submissions. Sadly, we only had one person enter the contest this year :( :'( So Lauren is our lucky winner. I'll poster her banner later. Congrats Lauren and thanks for taking the time to enter the contest.
