Title: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by JohnnysValentine on Jun 18th, 2008, 8:58pm My friend Sterling sent me a message today through myspace saying he knows George! Here is what he wrote me: Hi again Lauren: I saw on your profile that you're a fan of the Goo Goo Dolls. Their original drummer lives about five houses up the street from me. George Tutuska, I believe is his name. Pretty nice guy; I actually had to knock on his door one day to let his wife know that their dog had escaped from their back yard, and then he came out and I helped him get his dog back inside, LOL. I had no idea who he was at the time. Later on someone mentioned it to me and I looked him up online and sure enough, it was him. Sterling is a writer. He wrote a book about Styx and he is doing one about Journey right now. I told him to do one about the Goos! I'll let you know what he says. Lauren |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by The Cerulean O on Jun 18th, 2008, 10:11pm I can't decide if that's totally awesome or not (I'm not a George fan) Do you figure George wakes up every morning, looks at himself in the mirror and goes, "WHY?!!! Noooo!" I would. It'd be as bad as all those publishers who passed up Harry Potter. :P |

lol, he should be. But really, that's kinda cool! I was never a fan of the Goos when George was the drummer but I really think he did some awesome drumming on the earlier records. I would freak out if I ever saw him (though I'm not sure I would recognize him now). |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by Shannon on Jun 19th, 2008, 9:16am That is cool. It's always fun when you realize a celebrity or favorite band is connected to you by only a couple degrees of separation. ;) |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by ChickenCookie on Jun 19th, 2008, 10:29am Um, yeah, I've got a couple friends who know him too. ;) (And I've met him. And I've seen him play a couple times too. He's an awesome drummer.) |

I don't know. He has a family, owns a construction company and plays in a band he seems pretty happy in. He might not be rich or famous, but he seems to be doing alright for himself. It seems like a better life than being around people he didn't get along with and doing something he wasn't so interested in doing anymore. |

Reeeeeeally??!! ;) Like nmf said, I think George is cool with what he's doing now, and that's the important thing. It isn't always about amassing the biggest amount of $$. I mean, I could never equate the value of one of my children compared to money. No way, no how. |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by The Cerulean O on Jun 19th, 2008, 8:55pm I know, he's probably perfectly happy with where he is now, and that's cool. I'm just being silly. :P |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by carlyn on Jun 19th, 2008, 9:42pm That is so cool that some of you know people who know George! I know people who know Greg Suran! :D :P It's nice to know that George is doing well for himself. |

I know Greg Suran. ... No I don't. But I'm myspace friends with him! And my friend, Amber, has actually gotten responses when she messaged him! I think she asked him if he would ever consider touring with Goo again, and he sort of beat around the bush and didn't answer. :P |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by lionhill on Jun 22nd, 2008, 4:27pm Wow, that's so weird to see him like that. Still think it looks like the old pictures I've seen, though. |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by DWG on Jun 22nd, 2008, 10:25pm They are old pictures, from a few years back. |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by ChickenCookie on Jun 24th, 2008, 6:21am I don't think he looks 'weird' at all. Bald is beautiful, baby! :naughty: |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by The Cerulean O on Jun 24th, 2008, 8:14am I wasn't talking about the baldness XD (although I must admit, that's a factor...) |

If not the baldness,t hen what? Because he actually looks pretty much like he did on the back cover of SSCW, minus hair and plus a few years, if you ask me. :dunno: |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by The Cerulean O on Jun 24th, 2008, 9:19pm *shrug* I dunno. He just looks weird. It might be the feather boa. :P |
||
Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by DWG on Jun 24th, 2008, 11:37pm Trust me, he doesn't wear a feather boa often. I think that was a St. Patty's Day show, so it was just a moment of "festivity". The most recent pics I saw of him, he'd grown his hair back in, and looked very spiffy. But I like it either way. |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by The Cerulean O on Jun 25th, 2008, 12:20am Ooh, spiffy!George. Now I'm curious. *runs off to Google* |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by Saz_Goo on Jun 27th, 2008, 5:18am Haha, CC, I couldn't commit myself in a "battle of the drummers" but I'll admit the only time the drumming has made me sit up and take notice and be IMPRESSED, is on SSCW, namely: String of Lies, Don't Worry and Domino. ;) That's just me though.... |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by Amigone9012 on Jun 27th, 2008, 11:43am And We Cant Forget George Also Wrote Songs With The Goo's ;D Lots Of The Early Lyrics And Music Are From His Genius I Think All Around He Is Better Then Mike But Then Again Mike Is So Mysterious We Don't Get To Hear Much From Him xD |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by carlyn on Jun 27th, 2008, 1:19pm I'n not a drum expert or anything so I can't say whether George or Mike is a better drummer, but Mike wrote and sang on his Forty Marshas album, so I don't think it makes George better because he wrote and sang a little because Mike writes and sings too. I always figured that it just wasn't in Mike's contract to write and sing for the Goos but I could be wrong. Anyway I think Mike and George are both awesome and I love Forty Marhsas too. :) |

Title: Re: My friend knows George Tutuska!! Post by DWG on Jun 27th, 2008, 4:17pm In general, I don't think drummers get the respect they deserve. |

And Mike is a better singer than George :P I never really pay much mind to the drumming unless it is, like, completely mind blowing. And George's never really catches my attention like that...I prefer Mike. I mean, All Eyes On Me? Srsly. |

Srsly? Word. And besides, I "grew up with" Mike in the band, not George, so I'm kinda biased towards him. Not that George's drumming isn't good, far from it. |
