My friend Sterling sent me a message today through myspace saying he knows George! Here is what he wrote me:

Hi again Lauren:

I saw on your profile that you're a fan of the Goo Goo Dolls. Their original drummer lives about five houses up the street from me. George Tutuska, I believe is his name. Pretty nice guy; I actually had to knock on his door one day to let his wife know that their dog had escaped from their back yard, and then he came out and I helped him get his dog back inside, LOL. I had no idea who he was at the time. Later on someone mentioned it to me and I looked him up online and sure enough, it was him.

Sterling is a writer. He wrote a book about Styx and he is doing one about Journey right now. I told him to do one about the Goos! I'll let you know what he says.

I would. It'd be as bad as all those publishers who passed up Harry Potter. :P

lol, he should be.

But really, that's kinda cool! I was never a fan of the Goos when George was the drummer but I really think he did some awesome drumming on the earlier records. I would freak out if I ever saw him (though I'm not sure I would recognize him now).

Um, yeah, I've got a couple friends who know him too. ;)

(And I've met him. And I've seen him play a couple times too. He's an awesome drummer.)

I don't know. He has a family, owns a construction company and plays in a band he seems pretty happy in. He might not be rich or famous, but he seems to be doing alright for himself. It seems like a better life than being around people he didn't get along with and doing something he wasn't so interested in doing anymore.

Like nmf said, I think George is cool with what he's doing now, and that's the important thing. It isn't always about amassing the biggest amount of $$. I mean, I could never equate the value of one of my children compared to money. No way, no how.

No I don't. But I'm myspace friends with him! And my friend, Amber, has actually gotten responses when she messaged him!
I think she asked him if he would ever consider touring with Goo again, and he sort of beat around the bush and didn't answer. :P

Trust me, he doesn't wear a feather boa often. I think that was a St. Patty's Day show, so it was just a moment of "festivity".

The most recent pics I saw of him, he'd grown his hair back in, and looked very spiffy. But I like it either way.

Haha, CC, I couldn't commit myself in a "battle of the drummers" but I'll admit the only time the drumming has made me sit up and take notice and be IMPRESSED, is on SSCW, namely: String of Lies, Don't Worry and Domino. ;) That's just me though....

I'n not a drum expert or anything so I can't say whether George or Mike is a better drummer, but Mike wrote and sang on his Forty Marshas album, so I don't think it makes George better because he wrote and sang a little because Mike writes and sings too. I always figured that it just wasn't in Mike's contract to write and sing for the Goos but I could be wrong. Anyway I think Mike and George are both awesome and I love Forty Marhsas too. :)

I never really pay much mind to the drumming unless it is, like, completely mind blowing. And George's never really catches my attention like that...I prefer Mike. I mean, All Eyes On Me? Srsly.

You're ballzy sometimes...i miss you much...and i've been thinking a lot about road tripping your way..but i'm not brave enough to attempt the mission on my own

back to George...jackdaw is awesome live...esp during the south buffalo Irish festival...
