I was poking around Amazon today and found the link to GHV2. According to Amazon the release date is June 17, 2008. You can pre-order it now.

I fully expect this to be pushed back at least once, but I, for one, am impressed to see an original date in the first half of 2008.

We all know the new album isn't coming out anytime soon, so does anyone think they will release something off of GHV2? It would probably be beneficial, considering the supposed ADD of fans in the US. ::)

I think it's just those songs from the concert. It's the same footage as what was shown on that HD Music channel. I don't believe it was ever meant to be the entire show.

I still have it on my DVR (and can't figure out how to get it off :-/ ). I'll have to watch it again to compare.

I (sadly) believe that's real. But since I'm too depressed to go on a rant about what bullshit it is and how the band has clearly lost touch with reality, I will instead go into denial mode and point out why it may not be real.

1. I Don't Wanna Know isn't the correct title. (Neither is 'Transformers')
2. The video set is missing Better Days (along with I'm Awake Now and BITL. But those two might be due to movie clip issues, noting that an Iris video without COA clips exists)
3. The videos seem to be in chronological order, but the order is wrong (Dizzy, GALB)
4. Robby said they were looking to include old footage from PBS, etc, which is missing (I'm just grasping at straws now...)
5. If this is real, WTF have they been doing when they said they were in the studio working on GHV2? Because the tracklisting is basically a studio recording mixtape any fan could make in a couple hours.
6. They wouldn't put GALB on there, right?... Right?

And then again, sadly, the first three in the list are probably just due to the excellent fact checking skills we know exist in the GGD camp.

I just went back and looked at the Amazon site and the tracklisting is under the Editorial Reviews section, not input as a proper track list like on any other cd page.

So... I'm gonna keep hoping this is fake, but fearing it is real. Nice job to whoever made it up if it's fake, because it's incredibly realistic in a "I'm used to being disappointed by the Goos" type way.

When I first saw that track list I thought .... uh oh Nicole is going to be so disappointed. I have to admit I expected more rare tracks than this. I don't know what to think anymore.

I wouldn't think they'd put Torn Apart on GHV2 since it's already on EOAC.

I'm not sure what to believe, either. The list could be genuine, but what about all the things they said about new tracks? And Without You Here, Truth Is A Whisper and What A Scene aren't exactly rarities. Nah. I'm not sure.

IT'S NOT A MUST HAVE FOR FANS WHO ALREADY POSSESS ALL OF THE ALBUM TRACKS.

Live versions (plural) implies both American Girl and Give a Little Bit. But later on in the track list, GALB is clearly an album track.

Also, you can't say "the dvd features all 24 music videos" and then say "in addition, the dvd features 6 live tracks", because that means there are 30 tracks, not 24.

...

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that the band/management/label/writer of this piece of crap obviously knows this album is a pathetic attempt at a money grab and the only way to hype it is to lie and be misleading.

I could pick at it more, I suppose, but I guess if the band doesn't care about what they put out for their fans, I should stop caring too.

But this brings up an excellent point. According to my analysis (and yes, I did analyze it), none of the album tracks on this disc are repeated from EOAC. Well, EOAC was marketed as the band's 'favorite' tracks that they thought could have been made into successful singles. So if EOAC was 'favorites' and GHV2 has none of these 'favorites', whose 'favorites' are on GHV2? Surely, not the fans', because there would have needed to be some sort of poll or something.

Remind me to never attempt to use logic on this again. There is no logic in the apparent fantasy land of the Goo Goo Dolls...

I don't know if I'm more disturbed that they think fans ought to buy into this bullshit or that some fans really are buying into this bullshit.

Whoops, I guess I missed reading that part. I guess I was just referring to this:

A lot of the album songs that are on GHV2 are songs that I hear a lot of people saying they want to hear live, such as Hate This Place and Truth is a Whisper. If the Goos know that fans love these songs, then that means they must read the message boards. But if they read the message boards, then they would know to add songs like this into their live set or at least put live versions of these songs on GHV2 instead of the album versions. They would also know that the fans were hoping for and expecting to have actual unheard b-sides on GHV2 along with the entire Red Rocks concert. I know that all of these things exist, so now I am even more confused about why they chose the songs they did and why it is taking so long to get it out. I wish they would actually come out and say something about it instead of leaving us in the dark.

It pains me to say this ... but the Goo Goo Dolls should've taken a page from No Doubt, who put out a singles disc, a bonafide b-sides, rarities, remixes disc, and a music videos dvd a few years ago.

(As an aside, according to Wikipedia, Glen Ballard produced some albums with No Doubt. :P)
