lol...it's so quiet in here while everyone's watching Nick's video.

*goes back to watching some crazy Goos*

:seeya:

PS: I think I'd pay for a copy of the DVD. Not sure what I've got in trade. Will have to hunt through my collection.

I would LOVE to have that on DVD, but I highly doubt I have anything that you don't have. :-/

That's great Nick! It's so fun to see them before I was a fan. They really were crazy & fun weren't they? The music's not that great but they're highly entertaining.

I doubt I have anything to trade either. I'm a huge fan but not much of a collector.

Thanks for uploading and sharing this.  I flipped through it quickly, but I'll have to wait to get rid of the headache before I attempt to watch this for real.  I think I have the audio version judging from some banter I just saw...

Anywho I'm Just Wondering If People Would Pay For Copies Of This Show On DVD And What They Think A Fair Price Would Be?

The only fair price is the cost of the blank media and shipping.  From a very generous standpoint, that's $3.

And while I love trading, I am hesitant to trade with anyone who I think might be selling bootlegs.

Unwritten rule amongst traders is price of the blank DVD.

I Have Never Charged Anybody For Bootlegs

I Was Just Leaving It As A Option

If It's This RARE A Copy Must Be At-least Worth $13
xD

Here's the flaw to that though: If it's 'rare' and you sell it to 10 people for $13 and make about $10 profit, you have now made $100 profit off something you likely got for free, at the expense of your fellow fans.  And if you did pay for it, I sure hope you didn't pay $100, meaning you're still profiting.

You're also selling something as being 'rare' and perhaps some people will buy it, hoping that they have bought something worthy of trading to build their own collections, but then they find out it's not really rare anymore because the 'rare' item has been sold to nine other people who are also trying to trade it out.

There's nothing wrong with trading.  There's nothing wrong with sharing.  There's nothing wrong with choosing to selectively trade to get what you want.  But the moment money changes hands for a bootleg (aside from B&P), you are taking advantage of your fellow fans.

Thanks for showing us this Nick.

It's really cool to see the Goo's way back when they first started.

I do have to agree with what Nicole says though...

Well Then Ill Just Keep It To Myself Since Everyone Is Getting So Pushed Out Of Shape. :(

And I Don't Get How Its Fair To Just Pay The Price Of The Media And Then The Shipping

Then What Do I Get In Return Other Then Lossing Time Burning And Mailing Out Things???

I Try To Be Nice And I Get My Head Bitten Off xD

From Now On Ill Only Post Rare Things On My Board

I don't think you're getting your head bitten off. Everyone who has responded has been thankful for your sharing and respectful, even if they do not agree with what you're saying or doing.

In your initial post, you asked us what was a fair price for something. I answered and some others agreed. While I am sorry you don't like my answer of what is 'fair', I stand by it. I guess I don't know what you expected when you asked the question.

This messageboard has been around a long time and the rule (spoken and unspoken at times) is that there is no selling for a profit of reproducible media. There are other places that don't seem to think twice about it, but it's not the way of doing things here, at least not publicly. As far as your time for burning and mailing, well, there's no real way of quantifying that. I personally always wrote that off because you just hit 'record' and walk away, and then drop it in the mailbox on the way to doing something else. I surely could never justify $10 for that. Choosing to give something out for the cost of B&P or free generally means you don't get anything for it, except for the good feeling it gives you knowing you might have made someone else happy.

The Thing Is I Allready Have Given It Out xD

And I Did Not Charge Or Ask Anything In Return

I Just Posted The Link And Made A Offer For A Better Quality Version

If You Don't Agree Then Thats Your Opinion And I'm Ok With That But If Someone Else Wants To Buy One Then I Dont See A Problem

It's A Personal Prefrence

I Have Allready Freely Given My Whole Collection For Download And I Just Think Its Not To Much To Ask For A Little Back

This is the last response I'll make on this issue.

First, you can't give something, or everything, out freely and then think that means you're later entitled to get something back.  It just doesn't work that way.  Please realize that I, the person telling you this right now, have given away a ton, through the mail, downloads, youtube, filesharing, whatever, over the past 6 years, so I know exactly what I am talking about.  It doesn't give me the right to announce that I have something 'rare' on reproducible media that I will sell for profit.

Second, it's not just a preference to buy and sell on the major GGD forums.  I encourage you to try to sell a copy of a dvd on Absolute Goo or the Inner Machine forum and see how that turns out.  You might find out I am not being so unreasonable.

Okay......I've quietly sat back and watched this whole thing develop and now I have something to say.

First of all Nick .... we all appreciate you sharing anything with us. That's been said repeatedly in every thread you've ever posted anything on here. So please don't say we're ungrateful or don't appreciate your efforts because that's absolutely not true.

Secondly .... YOU came here and asked for opinions about what you should charge for a bootleg. Several people gave you their opinions in what seemed to me to be as nice a way as possible. I'm sorry you don't like their opinions but you asked. It's not really fair to say those members are unfair or treated you mean. They simply gave you an opinion. I've read this thread numerous times and while their opinion doesn't agree with yours never once was it rude or mean to you. These are members who have been around the Goo communities almost from the start and know the ins and out of trading and board policies. I cant tell you how many CDs NMF has shared with me over the years and never once has she charged me a single dime because that's just how fans support each other. All of the bootlegs and rare music I possess is from the generosity of fans sharing with me. I have never once been charged more than shipping and the cost of a CD for anything I have.

WOG is one of the oldest message boards in the Goo community and as long as I've posted here it's always been an unwritten policy not to post messages about selling any Goo music for profit. You'll also find those policies on most of the larger boards as well.

I'm sorry you didn't like the answer you received here Nick but that's life. People don't always agree. That doesn't mean you have to run off. It just means you don't agree but remember you asked for our opinions here. As for my opinion. I stand behind everything NMF said. If people want to offer to pay you for that bootleg that's great Nick. But I would never charge someone for it because I wouldn't have a single thing if it wasn't for all the great people who have shared with me for free.... including you.

I Just Ran From This Post To Stop The Argument

I Understand Both Of Your Points And I Have No Problem With Either

I Just Alsked A Question And I Got Peoples Opinions

They May Have Diffred From My But Such Is Life

As I Said I Have Nvr Sold Anything Goo And I Was Just Wondering

So I'm Sorry This Got Out Of Hand

I'm Not Gonna Sell It xD

Can We Remove This Thread And Move On ;)
