MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State Athletics and New York City-based MSL Sports and Entertainment today announced that the Goo Goo Dolls will perform a live concert in Bill Snyder Family Stadium as a part of the weekend Gridiron Bash The Ultimate Fan Competition activities surrounding the spring football game April 18 and 19.

The concert in Bill Snyder Family Stadium will take place on Friday, April 18, the evening prior to the spring game on Saturday, April 19.  The nights activities will also include a pep rally introducing the team and coaches.

Fans purchasing tickets for the concert will also receive free admission to the Wildcats spring game.  Reserved tickets for seating on the field are priced at $44.00. General admission seating in the stadium bleacher sections cost $38.00. K-State football season ticket-holders will have first opportunity to purchase concert tickets beginning on January 30 at the K-State Athletics Ticket Office in Bramlage Coliseum or online at www.k-statesports.com or www.gridironbash.com. Concert tickets will go on sale to the general public on February 14.  K-State is one of about 20 universities nationwide selected by MSL (the events creator and producer) to serve as Gridiron Bash host sites.

One of the top-selling groups of the past decade, the Goo Goo Dolls hold the record with the most  top 10 hits (12) in Adult Top 40 history, including songs like Iris, which topped the Billboard 100 charts for 18 weeks and was nominated for three Grammy awards.

Were excited to partner with MSL and Gridiron Bash in bringing the Goo Goo Dolls to campus for this unique event to support and promote our football program, said Athletics Director Tim Weiser.  It should make for a great weekend in Manhattan, and Im confident our fans will get behind this event 100 percent and help us compete for the top prize.

At the core of Gridiron Bash is a fan contest The USA TODAY Bash for Cash Series -- that will establish which of the participating schools has the most passionate and supportive fans.  The USA TODAY Bash for Cash Series winners will be determined by compiling the total attendance at the Gridiron Bash event and combining that with the number of fans who text/call-in to vote for their school.  MSL projects total attendance to be about 1 million.

The USA TODAY Bash for Cash Series winning university will receive a $1 million contribution to its general scholarship fund, with second- and third-place schools receiving $500,000 and $250,000, respectively.  Presentation of the winning schools will be aired live in conjunction with a soon-to-be-announced national television partner.

Were thrilled to bring Gridiron Bash to Kansas State.  The event will set a new tradition around spring football and feed the appetite of fans looking to be involved with the program beyond the season, says Shawn Garrity, president of MSL Sports and Entertainment and a former linebacker at Syracuse.  Gridiron Bash truly is the ultimate fan competition.  It offers fans the ideal opportunity to give back to the universities.

Since K-State developed a fan-fest concept for its spring game two years ago, the spring game attendance has increased dramatically, including a record 30,000 fans in 2006.  In total, Gridiron Bash is expected to bring participating universities in 2008 an estimated $12 million resulting from gate and merchandise revenue, as well as the opportunity to raise funds through parking, food and beverage sales.

For those going, sorry.

Gridiron Bash is cancelled (http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2008/mar/29/neth-months-gridiron-bash-cancelled/)

It seems there was confusion about athletes and apparently ticket sales were poor all around, and ALL concerts are cancelled, not just the Goos.
