On the weblogs of Variety Entertainment News a list has been made public of the songs that are up for consideration for an academy award for best song in a movie for 2007. Among the 59 song tracks chosen, to be evaluated by voting members of the Music Branch on Januari 15th, is the lovesong of the Michael Bay Transformers movie "Before It's Too Late (Sam and Mikaela's Theme)" by the Goo-Goo Dolls. Only 5 songs will go through to the 80th Oscar's Academy Awards on Februari 24th 2008 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.

Supplemental:
Variety has now also announced that 15 movies are up for consideration for best special effects in animation. The Transformers movie is one of those 15 movies.

Oh hell na. I love before it's to late better a million times more than Iris. However, it be odd cuz it seems that most ppl don't know of the song...that's how it is nowadays. Ever since youtube, torrent, megaupload, I've been listening to a lot of Anime music....so much more music in the world. Music is so broad nowadays. Maybe that's why nobody want to watch mtv and be brainwashed

Nobody wants to watch MTV these days because all they play is repeats of America's Next Top Model...

It doesn't really mean anything to be considered for nomination. It's just kind of like "Hooray! You met the qualifications to enter!" Actually getting nominated is what will be impressive.

I think they should remove the "M" from MTV, because they don't play any "M" unless you are watching at the ungodly hour of 6AM.

I think it's an honor to be considered for an Oscar!! Even if the Goos don't get offically nominated this is a big deal because thier name is out there with a different group of people who may not know thier music.

They were nominated for a Grammy, but I don't know about an Oscar.
I love listening to John talking about how they lost (got an old interview) and he's so pissed because Celine Dion (?) won. xD

If they win/get nominated, that would be awesome! I don't think it's one of their better songs, but nevertheless, they deserve every ounce of praise they can get.

Actually, MTV might have stopped playing music before I was born, because the farthest back I can recall watching music videos was Pop-Up Video on VH1....

I remember the good ole days of MTV when videos were played 24 hours a day with a small news break at the top of every hour. I truly miss those days. :( I don't know why artists even both making videos anymore.

VH1? They still play videos occasionally, and there's the Top 20 Countdown..Admitedly, just another charts, but hey....
Oh, and Fuse. Although I haven't gotten Fuse in months...Prett sucky, since it was basically my favorite, AND word is they've started playing Goo now. :(

Okay, that isn't fair. Enchanted has been nominated for TRHEE songs. THREE!!! IN THE SAME CATEGORY. Two of them weren't even that good!!! They should put it down in the rules that a movie is only allowed one nomination per category. I hope one of the other two songs wins, and I never saw those movies >.<
