Just a reminder to join us Friday night between 8-10 est for a live chat during the show. It's sure to be lots of fun. There's even been mention of a "you know" drinking game.....for those of legal age.

It might even be fun to do a poll and see who guesses the closest to how many times "you know" will be said by John. I'll start the guessing at 150. Of course this means someone needs to count ;)

Just click the chat button at the top ... that sometimes disappears.... to join the festivities.

Well, I could never follow along in chats...I was always scrolling up, reading the comment made 10 comments ago, and asking who's "fluffykitten?"
Plus, I have to work on Friday evening, and don't watch reality shows. And don't do much drinkin' either.
Not a gambling girl, but I will place a wager that Rzeznik says "you know" 64 times.
And I predict the audience (as opposed to the judges) will choose the band with "the cute lead singer". Because people do stuff like that.

Meh. No chance to watch NGAB at all, I doubt they'll be running it on UK TV anytime soon. :P Plus I'm really not a fan of Idol and all those shows. But it could be fun to pop into chat and have no clue what's happening... :P

And I put the "you know" wager in at 50, 'cos even if its a 2-hour show, minus adverts, that'll be what, 100 minutes? And John won't be talking for even a third of that time, what with the bands playing and all. So yeah, 50.

I have to DVR it and watch it later.

I'm going to see Chris Rock tonight. WooHoo I love Chris Rock and he is performing at this teeny, tiny club one town over from where I live. A few of the big East Coast comedians use this club to try out their material before going to the big places. They don't announce that they're going to be there and the tickets are really cheap - so it's a big score to get in. I'm very excited.

So, I'll have to catch Johnny's big judge debut on the DVR later. I'm not sure if I'll read your comments before or after I watch the show, don't know if I'd rather know what's coming or be surprised - hehe..

But I'll go with Shannon on the 150 you knows. I mean, JR is good for 2-3 you knows per sentence when he's on a roll...

John Rzeznik is capable of saying y'know 56 times in 05:14 minutes (pretty recent one too), so I'd raise the guess if I were you. Hopefully he'll have that much screen-time, talking.

No chance for my too watch that show. D: No Fox over here, sadly. Hope you who DO watch it have fun, though.

There was a power outage last night, which is why I randomly left the chat at like 10:45. The power didn't come back until around 3 am.

me and my sister had a long discussion of this during the show and we came to the conlusion that by leaving his mouth open during the performace, he is getting more oxygen to his brain which helps to think of witty comments.  such as:  That was awesome.  You're awesome. You guys. . .were awesome.  and let's not forget:  Great stage presence.

I found a 4 page thread on the Velvet Rope about the Goos. I thought it would be brutal as the Nashville Cats section is horrible on every thread. There's a few haters but it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

My prediction is that the audience will vote for the band with their fave "cute" singer.
It's what they do.

I get the impression the judges don't really have much impact on how the voting sways. They're just there to get us to watch the show. If I watched half of it, that's a miracle in itself.

I love reading threads on the Goos on non-Goo boards.  It's funny because people always jump in and say they hate the Goos for whatever reason.  And we know critics and people who think they are critics love to hate the Goos.  But Goo boards rarely, if ever, get trolls who come and hate on the band, so I don't think too many people deeply hate the Goos like people hate some other popular bands.

I like Sixwire. I think they're excellent. I can't get past the fact that the lead singer looks like Josh Lucas.

I can't believe that Denver stayed and Dot Dot Dot went home....WTF are people listening to?  I really hope those Light of Doom kids go home next week...they're bugging me.

I was VERY surprised that ... went home. I thought LoD would be eliminated this week and Denver next week.

I'm also surprised about ... b/c they're really the only band on the show that plays contemporary/pop.

I'm sticking by the Clark Brothers. They're still my favorite band on the show. I hope they win.

There just aren't enough people watching to make the more pop bands like Dot Dot Dot and Tres Bien stay on the show.  Light of Doom will make it to the finals and will win unless the producers rig the votes because the Vote For the Worst people are backing them.  I honestly believe DMHO is only still there because it's a huge band with lots and lots of family and friends to vote.  The Clark Brothers and Sixwire deserve to be there, and I hope one of them wins (even if they have to rig them damn show  :D).  They're the only two who I can see having any sort of success.

I read on a blog that Denver has 5 albums, tours regularly and is associated with a few Christian organizations. They're supposedly sending emails to tons of fans (& parishioners?) to vote for them. This is annoying me, because I really want the Clark Brothers to win.

As for Vote for the Worst, have they been able to sway other shows' results?

There have been some excellent remarks about John's name because of NGAB.  My favorites have been Johnny Rzzzzzezzzzznizzzzzzck (or something ridiculous with lots of zs) and Johnny Consonants.

They have a little success with American Idol.  They had much more with smaller shows with lower ratings.  Since this show has negative viewers, and they're putting in a couple hundred votes apiece each week, I think they have kept their pick very safe.

Well then I guess I have to get up off the couch and get the phone to vote for CB.

Edit: Then again, since I'm only good for about 2-3 redials/votes, I may as well just continue to sit comfortably on my couch with my blanky (it's cold here!) and my PC.

Yeah... at the end of the day, I can't complain about whoever wins.  I haven't voted and don't plan to buy any of their albums anyways.

I actually voted 2x last week and once the week before. (I've never voted on any other show). And it sounds like a handful of votes won't make a difference. But I would buy a CD from the Clark Brothers. Wouldn't buy anything from any of the other bands.

I missed the first half last night. But I'm supporting Sixwire and the Clarks. I do think Sixwire is more marketable though. I guess I'll vote next week  ;)

You're probably right about 6W being the more marketable band. They just bore me, and I think they're so unoriginal. And I'm tired of hearing how cute the lead singer is - he does absolutely nothing for me.

The Clarks on the other hand, are so passionate when they play, it's hard not to get swept up in their performance. And although I'm not a country music fan, so therefore I'm not familiar with what's out there in that arena, I think they have a more original sound than 6W.

Of course, this is all just MO  :D

If you like the 3 remaining bands, I think so. If you mean the boys' faces, not really, no drama...and they got comments from the judges after they got the boot - unlike dotdotdot that just got the axe w/o any parting words.

I don't think they would have said anything inappropriate. They were very respectful of the judges and took to heart any of the advice that was given to them. So I can't imagine they would come off rude. We may never know.

I don't like 6Wire  :P

The singer's face was funnier than the boys' faces when it was down to the 2 bands iin the green room. He looked like he was going to die (and be totally humiliated) if the kids were picked instead of them.

I'm voting tonight. I don't want 6W to win.

I think they had to pick a song they already did on the show. When Dominic said band's choice I think he said something about playing their favorite song from their prior performances.

6Wire already has a CD out, so they must have a few songs.

Denver has I think 5 CDs, so they have more.
