...is this a different version of Black Balloon than on DUTG>? http://youtube.com/watch?v=DKXeuo9ZgMU...or is there just a different version for the single which I'm being totally ignorant about?? The vocals sound different, clearer, unless they just made them louder in the mix...One example: the part before the instrumental, he sings 'or are you someone...' then it kinda fades but in the video you hear him sing 'prayer'... ???

It's different. The Goo's commonly release different mixes released on the radio and on their albums. Probably part of it is to make it shorter...some it just annoying as hell. It's a double edge sword. For example, the only way to get the song "naked" remix was to record it when it plays on the radio while the short original is on the album. Now we can get them all online, but it was a pain back in the 90s.
