Warner Bros. WBR announcements GOO GOO DOLLS
As reported in Billboard Magazine a few months ago, The Goo Goo Dolls have broken the record for "Most hits at a specific format in Radio History" with a dozen Top Ten hits. As of today, they have surpassed that record to a total of 14 consecutive hit singles including their current hit, "Before It's Too Late (Sam and Mikaela's Theme) from the Transformers soundtrack. On November 11th, WB will release a 14-track single disc collecting all the hits entitled, THE GOO GOO DOLLS GREATEST HITS VOLUME 1 - THE SINGLES. An expanded deluxe package will rarities galore will surface in the new year. The Goos are currently on tour. They headline The Greek Theater in LA

Let's have a "rarities" discussion. Are we to assume b-sides are not 'rarities', because that would make me insanely happy. I'd love to see In Your Blood, Tell Me, Stand Alone, Tuesday (?), and things we have no idea exist rather than b-sides like Lazy Eye and I'm Awake Now that all of the big fans already have.

It sounds like (and I'm really hoping) they'll be copying the Replacements format on All For Nothing/Nothing For All, where the first cd is the 'hits' (pseudo hits and should have beens for the 'Mats, actual hits for the Goos) and then a second cd with really obscure stuff.

Oh, and since when did counting go 10, 11, 12, 14?

Anyway, this is very good confirmation and speculation. Confirmations:
*date of greatest hit #1
*14 tracks on it
*other greatest hits will have others besides singles

Speculation:
*Will #2 have 2 discs, one being GH1 and the other being the rarities? Meaning there's no point in buying the first GH?
*Define rarities.
*How many on #2?
*Will they be remastered or extended?

I think Without You Here is pretty dead. I don't think they anticipated releasing BITL to carry them through the summer and they're not even playing WYH on the tour. Considering November 11th is a Sunday and the counting error, I'm pretty sure this announcement has a lot more incorrect information. WBR might not even be talking about the Goos for all we know...

And "meh" on So the Story Goes and "ugh" on Waiting (Working) on a Dream. The rarities disc will probably be something like:
1. Lazy Eye
2. I Don't Want to Know
3. GALB
4. GALB (the remix)
5. Better Days (the Christmas remix)
6. Naked (the remix)
7. Slide (acoustic)
8. Iris (acoustic)
9. We'll Be Here (acoustic)
10. GALB (the 8 minute version)

And then you'll never hear from me again because my brain has exploded.

I don't hate So the Story Goes. I just see why it was never finished/ put on an album. And it's weird. Give me that one...

The dance version of GALB was actually banned for explicit lyrics. Didn't you hear about that?

And the sheer terribleness of this remix may make the song even MORE sacred....or possibly deteriorate its meaning, rendering the original recording completely redundant and flawed in your eyes...it's touch and go.

Uhh...that utterly craptacular dance remix...

What kind of dance is one supposed to do to that?
It just reminds me of either:
Sunset on the prairie with some cowboys,
Bruce Hornsby,
or that really bad "dentist office" music they used to play years ago (before the existence of adult contemporary radio stations which provide similar fare)...embarassingly awful covers of songs, usually meant to numb one into a state of feeling no pain.

Hahaaaa! That is so bad it's...bad. :P Does he even know the words? In the chorus it sounds like he never quite figured out the lyrics, so he's singing what he thinks is the closest thing to proper words.

EXACTLY what I thought; usually it's sped up with a thumping monotonous beat thrown in.

Yeah, one for me!

In other, more on topic news, I trolled around the music charts today and the Goos haven't hit the top 10 on any chart with BITL and are on the way down. Good to know WB is inventing chart news now.
