just found this out a few hours ago, but according to amazon.com and radio station KISS 95.7, the goos are going to release a greatest hits album on 9/11 of this year. not sure how i feel about this. because isn't a band's greatest hits album usually their last? i know its not always the case, but i'm just thinking about britney spears right now...

anyways, i'll try not to depress anyone any further. anyone have an idea for a potential tracklist? its obvious whats gonna be on there but w/e

The Goos said they are going back in the studio in October to record a new album, so I don't think you have to worry that this greatest hits will be their last.

Are they? I hadn't heard.
Personally I tend to think GH albums are pretty unnecessary in most cases, but I'm sure it'll get picked up by a lot of the casual fans that have listened over the years. I'm not concerned about it being their last release but I'm mildly depressed that most people would rather buy 15 hit ballads on one CD than listen to an actual album with more variety to it.

Maybe Dizzy and Big Machine and a couple more of the ABNG singles although they didn't "chart" as well. Someone feel free to fill in my blanks.

And if the September release date is right they could also use this as a reason to put out "Without You Here" as a single and add that to the tracklist too... John mentioned it as the "next single" at a few shows earlier this year but so far there's been no other word on that.

I don't like the sound of it...but I guess it makes sense. I don't think it means it's their last album. Many artists release greatest hits, and keep going. It's probably good marketing as well cuz somebody may really like the greatest hits, and then wanna listen to new albums and songs.

I guess we'd have to add "Let Love In" to the list above.

I keep hearing the fact spouted about the Goo's having the most "Hot AC" hits, so I guess someone might be tempted to put out a compilation of that, but it wouldn't a grouping of songs I'd want to buy, personally.

Greatest hits = band is over.

Bad idea. I only support the idea if the video collection is also made available.

I should clarify. It doesn't actually mean the band is over. But I think the public opinion is that the band is over if they've released a greatest hits album.
