Lauren, I use VCR...but I was wondering if there's another better method than using my VCR. I don't like Tivo cuz of the subscriptions, so is there anything exactly like VCR, but better? Is the DVD recorder you use works like VCR? If so, the problem to me is that DVD seems limited in size....i dunno...any advice??

Yay!  I didn't know if the Canadians could see this.

I am not prepared... I need to find a suitable rewritable dvd and I think I've misplaced my Leno one...

If you have a DVD recorder you can record it onto a DVD instead of a VHS. It is better in the long run I think. Programming the DVD recorder is just like programming a VHS, you have to put in the date, time, and how you want it to record (eg: EP, SLP). If you want a better quality when recording onto a VHS, I would use SLP, but it will use up a lot of the VHS because it's a better quality.

Recording a DVD can have it's complications. If you buy a DVD -R Recorder you can't use DVD +R discs and vice versa. You have to have DVD -R Discs for DVD - R Recorders.

I hope this helped. I don't have TiVo and I don't know if you can get it in Canada, so I have no idea how to use it, sorry!

For me, the worst thing about a dvd recorder is that you can't 'tape over' anything on a non-rewritable disk.  And it's not as easy to copy a homemade dvd as it is for a vhs tape.  When I fist used the dvd recorder I felt like you were really limited.  

I use a dvd recorder all the time now, but found it best to use dvd+rw disks, and then transfer to the computer and edit and line up what you want on the disk on the computer and burn it onto a dvd+r.  It's more work, but with dvds you don't lose quality like vhs.  (I started taping Goo performances in 1998 on vhs.  Those original tapes are already damaged, especially the ones with low quality LP recordings.  DVDs don't degrade.)

thx for the info. Seems to cumbersome for me though. I know that uploading DVD can take even more time.

thanks for the info. I didn't know that it has EP, SLP on dvd....that's awesome to know. I might consider it if it's really cheap.

That was the only time I see too....he sure did throw the guitar around alot though.

I do like the live versions of this song more than the studio version.

Thanks for thinking of me Nicole. You guessed right that I missed it. I just couldn't, in good conscience, make my kids stay up to watch it last night while we were all sharing a hotel room.

Why does he even carry the guitar if he's not going to play it ???

Thanks so much for recording that Nicole!

Am I a bad fan for cringing through most of that? The song sounds good live, and his voice was fine, better than I expected, but he does look a little bit idiotic prancing on stage with the guitar for no apparent reason. And for me, I thought he oozed more personality and charisma in the 30 seconds when he stopped moving and just played the damn thing than for the whole rest of the song. Couldn't he have at least played it during the chorus at least??
Argh. Rant over. But I have non-fans coming with me to the UK shows in July, and I'd rather they didn't think he was a poser with a guitar, when we all know he CAN play, and play damn well at that.... :-/

I cringed a bit too.  I have always hated when they put some popstar on stage with a guitar who has no idea how to play it and just wears it.  I know John can play it, but not everyone seeing the performance knows that.  It looks like he's a pretty front man who can't play the guitar.  I think he was a bit too hyperactive too.  You don't need to run all over and strike poses to have an interesting performance if the song is good and the band sounds good.

But hey, he didn't wear the jacket without the shirt or the shirts he cuts the sleeves off of, so that's a step in the right direction, right?  :-/

That's exactly what I was wondering.

And yeah, I agree John looked idiotic just prancing around with his guitar not playing it.  I was cringing a bit too.  I never really let it bother me before but this time it was just too ridiculous since he only strummed his guitar a few times, he might as well not have had it at all.
