This question has been on my mind alot, for some reason. I think because both songs sortof "popped out of nowhere" so to say. If that makes sense. I really love the verses of BITL, and the lyrics are amazing. I think I like Before It's too Late better.

I'm not sure yet. Better Days became this powerful anthem that I'm sure will stand the test of time for years. I do like BITL but I haven't heard it enough to be able to compare it yet.

better days.

i like the new one, but it doesn't compare to better days...especially when they played it here live.for free.for a major day in new orleans.

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of either song. BITL, for me, has better lyrics than Better Days, but I think I like the music of Better Days more than BITL.

At first listen, I say "Better Days". After 15 listens, I love "Before it's too late" to death. It's the kind of song that you have to get use to and you love it. I got sick of "better days" after a few listens and I don't even think of it. "Before it's too late" is probably better than "i'm still here", and the 3rd best song in the last decade. I can't stop listening to it. Goo's done good!

Before it's too late is the one that's gonna stand the test of time....becuz it has transformers behind it..haha. That's assuming it plays for a few minutes in the movie.

regardless of what I thought of either song later, judging by my initial reactions I was ecstatic when I heard Better Days and let down as soon as I heard the opening note of Before It's Too Late.

Well, this is how I look at it.

Since 2000, these are my favorite songs:
1) Big Machine
2) Let Love In
3) Fiction (Before It's too Late)
4) I'm Still Here
5) It's Over

90s:

1) Naked
2) Long Way Down
3) Fallin Down
4) Name

Iris is a great song, but it's nowhere being good compared to their other material. When I make a best of CD, usually 2 CDs, I never put Iris on it.
