Title: Re: Whats your favorate goo song and why? Post by Shannon on Mar 13th, 2007, 11:48am This is a great topic for discussion. That's easy for me. My favorite Goo song also happens to be my favorite song by any singer or band. And that song is NAME. I think the lyrics are brilliant but more than that it's the emotions that song evokes when I hear it. It has to do with John's voice and the acoustic guitar but it just calms me and takes me instantly to my happy place. I don't know any other way to explain it. |

Title: Re: Whats your favorate goo song and why? Post by the redo on Mar 13th, 2007, 12:09pm Eh... I'll say Fallin' Down. It switches between that and Cuz You're Gone. No deep meaning for me, I just like 'singing' the guitar solos in my car... |

Title: Re: Whats your favorate goo song and why? Post by Pondering My Fate on Mar 13th, 2007, 12:41pm That is a tricky question. I can't say I've got one FAVORITE. Lately "Long Way Down" has been doing it for me, though. |

Title: Re: Whats your favorate goo song and why? Post by DWG on Mar 13th, 2007, 12:57pm I don't have any one favorite. It isn't fair to all the other good songs. I know for sure it wouldn't be anything off of LLI, the first release, or Jed. There are plenty of favorites scattered throughout the rest of the GGD catalog for me. I guess it depends on my mood. The other day ABNG was placed into the cd player in my car, and damn, but "Long Way Down" is a helluva good song to start off an album. I do have a really bad habit of singing the guitar parts and drumming on the steering wheel when I hear a song like that though. |

Title: Re: Whats your favorate goo song and why? Post by the white o on Mar 13th, 2007, 1:43pm Mine is Iris. It's the first song I fell in love with, along with a millon others. But I find the lyrics have so much to say to me. My second favourite has to be Domino. I dunno why, it just clicks. |

Title: Re: Whats your favorate goo song and why? Post by the purple o on Mar 13th, 2007, 1:58pm My favorite Goo Goo Dolls song is Black Balloon. I don't really have a deep reason why, I think the lyrics are extremely powerful. I also really like Cuz You're Gone and Truth is a Whisper. I guess my favorite songs really depend on what kind of mood I'm in at the moment. |

Title: Re: Whats your favorate goo song and why? Post by collegeunm on Mar 13th, 2007, 3:18pm Truth is a Whisper and Without You Here are my favorite Goo songs..... I can't explain why I like Truth is a Whisper, just something about that song..... Without You Here ---- the emotion that John puts into singing that song, especially live, is what draws me into that song the most..... |

Title: Re: Whats your favorate goo song and why? Post by ChickenCookie on Mar 14th, 2007, 6:43am This is just way too tough for me because my favorite at any given time really depends on my mood. Lately, I've been rockin' the HMU, so Just the Way You Are or Theer You Are ranks as my fave. Fallin' Down, Name, Long Way Down, Only One, Slide and Here is Gone are also perennial favorites. For lyrics, I'd say that I love Name, Broadway, Flat Top and Truth is a Whisper. For kick-ass guitar, I'd pick There You Are, Long Way Down, Only One or Disconnected. For quieter, more emotional times, I reach for Name, Here is Gone or Sympathy. Overall, though, the one that gets me every time is Slide. There's no deep reason for it, but I can resist that jangly guitar in the beginning ... and I *really* feel like doing the pogo when I hear the chorus! ;D |

Title: Re: Whats your favorate goo song and why? Post by tkc1989 on Mar 15th, 2007, 12:11pm Mine changes all the time to be honest, like the majority...but I'd probably go for Iris as it was the first song I heard by them, and Big Machine (I can't believe no-one else has mentioned it!!! ??? :-/) 'cause the lyrics, the singing and the music ALL rock, just an all round amazing rock song. |

Title: Re: Whats your favorate goo song and why? Post by Saz_Goo on Mar 15th, 2007, 5:03pm Hmmmm. My faves change all the time, but the ones which tend to stay near the top are: Slide (first Goo song I heard, always loved it, always will) Girl Right Next To Me Already There (the lyrics: I relate. - well, except for being "just a boy who's young at heart" ...I think I'd be a girl, right there...:P) Slave Girl for its sheer rocking awesomeness. Big Machine, Cuz You're Gone, There You Are, Tucked Away and Lucky Star all get a special mention too. |

Title: Re: Whats your favorate goo song and why? Post by Heather on Mar 16th, 2007, 12:52pm This is really hard but even though John was the one that wrote this and not with the band, I would say I could relate to "Im still here" really well. I know its crazy but, I am the youngest of 4 kids and when I was 14, my parents sort of wrapped themselves in my older siblings' lives and pretty much didn't pay attention to me. Which was a good thing in some ways because I could get introuble and they wouldn't notice and I learned right from wrong on my own without them telling me. But the down side to that was, at times I needed them to help me and No matter what I did, I couldn't get the attention or guidence from them. I am 23 now and my family is just now getting to know who I am. I am nothing like my brothers and sister so my parents think I am this Angel. I don't have the drama and the amount of problems in my life so they think that I am this perfect person and they expect me to live up to this. Now I have ALL thier attention and its too late because they drive me insane sometimes lol. But I love them. Its so hard to explain. I am so different from my brothers that its like we are not related at all except for our musical talent. When I hear this song its like what I have been trying to tell everuone for so long about me. I got into trouble as a teenager and needed some guidence in my life and now that I sort of grew up on my own, I am nothing like that anymore I have made something of myself. I am an officer now, before that I was an EMS/Fire Rescue-911 dispatcher. So I didn't waste my life. Now my parents are wanting to make those choices for me that they should have done years ago. Now instead of screaming out for attention I am screaming out to be who I want to be not who they want me to be. I am not aloud to make a mistake. They think I am this Saint that never could do no wrong and leads this perfect life. So that is why I like that one.. But there are more like," We are the Normal" I love it!! Heather |

Title: Re: Whats your favorate goo song and why? Post by Drinks With George on Mar 16th, 2007, 1:00pm Heather, your story is very interesting and gives a lot of insight into why you chose that particular song. Thank goodness you had the strength of character at an early age to think things through for yourself, and yet make the right decisions most of the time. |

Thank you, I appreciate that. I am very proud of who I turned out to be. In an odd way, I think it was the best way to learn how life goes. I'm not bitter about it. I know that I can help someone and really know what its like when I tell them "I know what you mean, I have been there" I learned everything hands on. I could have ended up in Jail or worse, dead. I run into my old trouble makers and we look back on everything and see that we came along way. It makes you feel great. The first time I hear this song. It scared the hell out of me. I didn't think anyone knew what I was going through or been through. I would love to sit down with Him and ask him what was going through his mind when we wrote that song. lol Seriously cause it hit home. The day that changed my life alot was Sept. 11th, 2001. I turned 18 on that day. I realized that I should be living the American Dream, so to speak instead of destroying it. Heather |

Post by jetskiters on Mar 29th, 2007, 12:43pm I just love love love Here is Gone... already did back when I was just a casual fan... i love its intensity, moodiness, the guitar riffs, the powerful chorus... ahhh :) Big machine comes a close second....I agree with some poster somewhere who said that they must have put audio crack in the song coz it was so addictive lol And i just love the lyrics in What a Scene. I love the soaring vocals on Hate this Place and Bulletproof, the riffs in Dizzy. I love two days in february, So far away, stop the world, burnin' up, lucky star, don't worry, there you are, and of course DOMINO!!! :nanner: |
