I've never heard of a dirty version of the Girl Right Next to Me. I do however, have the dirty version of 1000 Words, if that's what you meant. It's 1000 Words without Cuz You're Gone. I thought I had the whole thing but I can't find it. I love how John just teases the crowd in this. Even his laugh sounds naughty :naughty:

He is a silly man. One of the reasons I love Name so much is his guitar solo in it.

I'm listening to the Lazy Eye acoustic you put up. I actually didn't have that one. I have several but not that one. I LOVE his guitar playing.

Man... don't get me started on the (lack of) guitar playing... The guitar hanging around his neck just makes him look like he can't play and he's doing it for show... alright, I'm stopping...

I don't believe there was a CD, but if you have a good audio recorder you just pop the DVD into your computer, record the song through the computer, edit it and convert it into an mp3. It's so easy it takes about 5 minutes.

Oh, you're one of those LIA people.  I always think LIA is just a typo of LIB.  Actually, here's something creepy to think about.

LIC - Live in Capitol (Capitol Studios is where the new dvd was filmed)

I didn't forget.  I'll post tomorrow after exam #2 is over.

Not to get off the topic of acoustic songs, but I just converted 2 lives shows from this summer that I got on dimeadozen.  I was thinking of "yousendit"ing one of the shows for all of you fine people.  I have PNC 8/12 and Tampa.  I haven't listened to much of either one, but if anyone particularly wants one of those, speak now as I haven't decided which one to put up yet.  :D

hey, the blue o, what is Black Balloon acoustic?  I don't have acoustic Black Balloon, according to my harddrive.


And yes, cassette.  Back when I was 14-18 and without my own computer I made myself a pretty impressive Goo collection on cassette from Buffalo radio.  All the local radio interviews, national interviews (MRL and Rockline), my very first Goo bootleg, rarities and live songs.  I miss those days of Goo all over WEDG.

Thanks for Black Balloon.  I wouldn't call it acoustic, but it's a really nice live performance.


And exams went "fail", "probably fail", and "will fail" for my one in 40 minutes.  But it's okay because in chemical engineering grad school, you can fail, you just have to fail less than everyone else.  And considering I'm one of only 2 people whose primary language is English I've got a head start.  :D

I think the GRNTM was from a radio station performance or something, probably a good while back.

Where is the version you have from?  If I have it I can easily split it out of an entire show.  Let me know what show it is and I'll post it.

I like the acoustic SWY.  The guitar strumming (I think) is a little overpowering, but I think the more mellow acoustic sound and the way John changes the melody a little is more appropriate for the lyrics than the original.


Drew, I'll have to check on if I even have that version of Naked anymore.  It is bad quality so I may not have kept it.  Even worse, I may have retitled it and cast it into the "what the heck is this and where do I put it?" folder of my harddrive, where it will never be recovered again.  But I'll look for it tomorrow night.

Found it. I got it from a very cool goo friend (you out K?), according to her, it's from a live radio show from 1996 from 99X.com . It's the first song.

To maybe jog your memory...at the beginning they talk about how the audience is sitting on the floor and it reminds them of school and getting milk and cookies. Sound familiar??

I remember listening to that particular show. �They played something like 6 songs I think: Girl Right Next To Me, Two Days In February, Impersonality, We Are The Normal, Name, and Another Second Time Around.  A good listen for sure.

Oh cassettes. I have around 3 boxes of "mixed music" cassettes in my basement. Remember how painful it was to make a cassette of all different music?

You would have to pull an LP out of your stack of records. Plop it on the turntable, put the needle on the at the right track. Then listen while it played, so you knew when to start and stop the recording.

Then put that LP away and repeat until you filled up your tape. Geeze, it took 2-3 hours to tape 1 hour of music...LOL...

My husband wants me to throw the tapes away and I just can't do it. An old friend went to the trouble to painfully make all the tapes for me and I don't have the heart to toss them.

Things are so different in the music world these days.

And Denise, your record talk is beyond me.  I was born in 1983...  :D  But when I first started converting cassettes to digital files it was the same way.  I didn't have splitting software so I had to sit and listen and stop recording, start recording, stop, start, stop, start...  It took a whole night to convert a two hour tape!

Tucked Away- At first I hated the back-up vocals but then I found them cool. But I feel as if they are backing him up cuz people complain about his voice. Just let the man sing! And if they're John's, why don't you put some of that energy into your own damn songs! Honsetly! Another awesome guitar solo, and does anyone know what Robby says before it?

Talking- You sound like a crotchety old man. Stop it.

Thanks so much for uploading this, it's incredible, I can't ever get enough live Goo!

This spring/summer I was fortunate enough to catch 3 Goo concerts (the radio-only spring show in Columbus, Cleveland, and of course Buffalo) and I have to say, they rocked so hard.  I was worried b/c they lost Greg Suran and he is an amazing performer and guitarist, but the new guys satisfied me from beginning to end.

Anyway, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but to clear up a previous post, there's no actual words missing from Slide. It sounds like it at first as Johnny waits an extra progression to start the second verse, but everything is there. Obviously, "I wanna wake up where you are/I won't say anything at all" is left to the crowd, like they've been doing for years. The "distorted voice" on FtS I must not have caught either, I definately didn't hear that, and SWY is mixed weird, it's really bassy and Johnny's voice is much quieter than on the other tracks.  However, I do agree with you, he definately holds his voice back on that opener.  Both in Buffalo and Cleveland I noticed it, but soon forgot as they satisfied by primal and baser desires for great rock and roll. In the Columbus show he really belted it out, but they only played a 9 song set.  I'm thinking that song is really a strain on his voice b/c of the key and he hasn't yet found a good medium to sing it at

Just thought I'd throw in my opinion, I love this version of Feel the Silence, thanks so much!

P.S. I'm a proud owner of all the Goo CDs, not just a Dizzy/Gutterflower fan, and although I do love the energy of playing fast and playing hard, as a musician I seriously respect Johnny's recent quest to derive power in music from more than just as he says, "a wall of screaming Marshalls"

1983, hmmm, do you remember LPs at all?..LOL...should I even mention 45s?...LOL...I had this little box with a bright orange and white swirly psychedelic pattern on it, that I used to carry my 45s with me. Geeze, you needed a darn box to carry around 50 songs, well 100 songs if you count the b-sides.

The thing I miss that most about the old LPs was the amazing cover art. The artists had that 12x12 canvas to work with, rather than the little jewel case size used today for CDs. Lots of cool album covers back then...

OK, I'm getting all nostalgic and way off-topic here. Guess I better go turn on my iPod and get back to the 21st century...

No, I must say I never owned an LP. �My older sister had a little record player and a couple of records that read stories (Little Engine that Could is what I remember) so I have at least touched a record. �But I am jealous of all the artwork room. �I love artwork and am sad to see it is ignored for the convenience of an mp3. �But I do love my ipod more than anything else in the world. �So right now I'm still buying cds to look at them, but then immediately putting them on the ipod. �Since I got a line-in installed in my car, I've only used my cd played to play cds on the way home from buying them...

Grrr..  Paul Westerberg (not exactly a top 40 artist, but still...) just scored a soundtrack and released it.  But then there was also a vinyl record he released with songs you can't get on the cd.  And I don't have a record player!!!

I used to love records. There's just something so nostalgic about the sound of a record playing. I used to have Grease and Star Wars on record and listen to them over and over. To this day I still know all the lines from both movies.

I certainly wasn't questioning anyone's intelligence, I hope it didn't sound that way.

And I always try to stay away from the "Kids these days" comments. As a matter of fact, one of the things I enjoy most about the message boards is chatting with people of all ages and people from all over the world.

I also feel like every person has something to offer in the way of teaching me something, no matter what their age or background. Case in point, I had no idea that vinyl LPs were still being produced. I know I haven't seen them in a store for a long time - although I haven't been looking for them, so maybe I just didn't notice.

I know you were just being sarcastic, but I still wanted to clarify my comment.  ;D

I actually just helped Pondering acquired a newly-released vinyl record set the other day, since few stores carry records.
Some Hot Topic stores are good at getting new record releases in stock. When I purchased the vinyls the other day, the cashier asked if we owned a record player. Apparently behind the counter she had available a portable record player that they sell to customers who don't yet own a turntable. I have one, but it doesn't behave very well unfortunately.
I think a big aspect of the interest in vinyls is due to the interesting artwork and presentation of the product.

I feel the same way.  It gets me soo angry when older people think that younger people have no clue what they're talking about when they're talking about something somewhat old (such as records and bands like Led Zeppelin.  Of course we know what those are!  We're not dumb!).  And then they go on to rub in our faces how much better everything was in "the good old days" and how kids these days are spoiled and we are the reason everything's bad these days. >:(

I gotta agree. I wasn't too impressed with the show. But I'm beginning to think I don't really care for the new songs, unless I'm there in person hearing them live.

And I hate the cheesy way John does Iris now with the audience singing most of the chorus. It's one thing for the audience to sing along (which I love) but another to have the audience sing instead of John. Plus I think it just looks so cheesy...

Gee, I can't imagine they'd sound very good on a little portable player. But I guess it's better than nothing.

I'm going to the mall today, I'm going to have to check out Hot Topic, just to see what kind of LPs they carry.

I remember I finally threw out my turn-table when I couldn't figure out where to get a new needle.

Then I tossed my LPs which to this day, I can't believe I did. I was in a "less is more" mood and was power-cleaning the basement. I regret it so much. I had a great collection, even if it was a little beat-up. Guess my vinyls are melting in some landfill somewhere  :'(

That just means its uploading. It takes some time to upload. It will tell you when it's complete.
