Title: London Ontario Question..
Post by ashleylovesgoo on Sep 3rd, 2006, 6:48pm
Does anyone know how many people can fit in the GA area of the JLC? I was looking at the seating map and it looks like a BIG area!!! I'm scared I'm going to get there late (have to wait for a friend to get off work before the show) and be stuck at the back!! I'm hoping it won't be too cramped so we can weasle our way to the front if we need too  :P

It should be set up for Theatre seating so it'll only use about 1/4 to 1/3 of the whole place ... much much smaller. I have no idea how many the floor holds but I've been to a show there with Theatre seating and it's not too big.

Here's the seating chart for the concert.
I'll be there, section 208.

GA is not big, since they're only using practically 1/4 of the whole arena.

I know it's not much, but I hope it gives you an idea.

Thanks!!

Yeah, it looks like they are playing a very small portion of it.. so GA shouldn't be too crowded.  It's going to be an interesting, but fun, experience! LOL

Oh, and Lauren.. are you taking a camera??? I usually do, but I'm thinking I might not this time around.... I'm always scared security is going to take my camera.. lol

I will be yes. I do believe they allow you to take yours into the arena. It's an arena so they should.

I don't think the venue minds camera's.

I'm not Lauren but I'll definitely be taking my camera. I saw a show there last year and brought my good digital with the 10X optical zoom and had no problems. You should be fine as long as your camera isn't a professional with detachable lenses....that's what's not allowed.

No, I have a 10X Digitial Camera too. Very good, it's still sort of new. I brought it to the DTE with me. Worked great!!

Shannon, are you in GA too?

Gonna be a GREAT night!!

I have no idea how we'll know who is who.. maybe we should have a meeting place before the show and introduce ourselves once we get there.

We're all GA right? We should just meet up outside in line at a specified time. If we get there early enough it shouldn't be too crowded. Let's hope it's not sub zero that day.

I came to the realization like a week ago that it's GA in NOVEMBER in CANADA.  How long can someone wait outside before they lose fingertips?  And what does one do with a coat once crammed into the GA section?  I guess the one good thing is that it's a Wednesday, so some people will not actually get there until after work, so there's less people who will line up early.

And I read on an ebay auction that said GA was only going to be 150 or 200 people according to what the seller was told by a JLC employee, which is not bad at all.

The weather shouldn't be that bad.. a little chilly, but nothing that we can't handle  ;) I'm wearing my Goo shirt and a lighter coat, I don't want to have to carry a bulky coat around with me once I'm in GA.. thinking I may even leave my purse in the car and just take my camera in. I hate carrying things! LOL If GA only hold around 150-200 people.. that's not bad at ALL! I really hope I can get there earyl!!! Argh, I wish this concert was sooner than llatter, I worry about things too much! LOL

Ha ha, that wasn't a supposed to be a "Oh, my God, Canada is a barren frozen wilderness" comment.  I would have framed it exactly the same if it were Buffalo.  Because, you know, Canada and Buffalo weather can be damn cold in November.  Or mild.  Or hailing balls of fire.

I'm mostly worried about GA in November because I currently have a streak of not being sick for three and a half years.  I don't really want to provoke the impending death illness a month before I lose my health insurance.  :D

Scary, huh?  You will recognize me in the GA line because I will be wearing a coat, hat, gloves, and a surgical face mask, spraying Lysol at anyone nearby with a runny nose.

I should post a picture of Tara and I, just so you know.

We'll all cross our fingers that no one gets sick!! I'm sure we'll all be fine  ;) I feel a cold coming on now, so maybe if I get it now I won't get sick again before the concert! It's FREEZING here today!! I think because it was so warm for so long and now all of a sudden it's cooled down that my body is getting back into winter state (and it's not even Fall yet!).. hence the cold coming on..  ::)

I was at the JLC before.
I was there for the first concert..
The first band to EVER play there was OLP <3 it was soo amazing.

JLC has great sound. its built and it BARELY echos which is amazing!!!
its a nice size... its not as small as Copps Colisuem in Hamilton but its just you know one of those good sizes.

I think it can fit anywhere between 12 thou-15thou thats my guess. dont quote me!

I'm worried, but I know I shouldn't be, seeing as the concert isn't until mid-November. I did get the 1 ticket I ordered from the JLC.. my 2 other tickets are coming from IM and they say that they should arrive 1 week prior to the concert.  I emailed The Artist Arena in NY (where IM prints their tickets) and she said that they have not been mailed yet, and will be coming in a plain white envelope with a NY address on them, and they should arrive 1 week prior to the concert.  She said I could email her closer to the date and get the status of my tickets then.  God, I hope they get here soon!!! IM, you better not screw me over!!!!

I had Tara call the JLC because we had to get wheel-chair accesible tickets. That's probably why I have mine now.

Don't worry.  As long as you're not the ONLY one who doesn't have tickets you're fine.  I don't have mine yet either...

For the Goos' show at HSBC in Buffalo 2002 I never got my tickets in the mail.  I called the box office about a week before and asked what was going on and since they were GA tickets, they just issued me new ones at the box office.  Since they don't have to worry about issuing new tickets for actual seats and having two sets of people show up for the same seats, they'll reprint GA tickets without even flinching if you say you don't have your tickets.

Well, yes, I had to tell them my confirmation number and other various things.  But the point is that if you really did order GA tickets and don't get them, there's no real hassle in having new ones made.

GA shows in the winter definitely pose a HUGE problem. What to do with the coat once inside? If you waste time on coat check you lose your chance to be upfront. It's quite the conundrum if you ask me. I really wish this show would've had seating on the main floor.

It would make things a helluva lot more easier eh??

Title: Re: London Ontario Question..

Yes, because at least if there was seating you'd have a chair to rest your coat on and you wouldn't have to wait in the cold for hours. I really hate GA in the winter. Come to think of it I really detest winter.

Title: Re: London Ontario Question..
Post by the red o on Oct 24th, 2006, 3:58pm
Yeah, I think my biggest issue is the coat.  You need a coat outside, but what do you do inside?  I'm NOT coat checking.  I fully intend to be on the rail for at least once in my life and once I get that elusive front row, I can stop going to GA shows.  Yay.

But... you can't wear the coat inside because it'll be all smushed and hot.  And you can't just hold it.  I suppose if you are on the rail you can lay it over the rail, but come to think of it, will there even be a rail?  Or just, bam, stage?

My thinking right now is to go buy a cheap (ugly) coat from, like, the Salvation Army for $10.  Wear it, lose it, who cares?  It will require me to get over my fear of second hand clothes though (High school friend says, "Hey, like my pants?  They cost be $2 at the Salvation Army... Some old man probably died in them.")

Hmmm, you're right. But you do have a point of getting your clothes second hand, just in case you do lose them. I actually like shopping at Value Village, you really have to look hard to see where the good clothes are, plus it's great for Hallowe'en costumes!!

I'm assuming you're bringing your camera? I am too, but I'll be all the way in section 203, the accesible area. You're going to have AWESOME shots.

That's what I'm thinking too. The closest I've ever been at a Goo show was at the Private show with you Nicole. And, even though it was close, it wasn't the rail and it was way off center. My goal is to be front and center for once in my life too.

I will probably just end up tying my coat around my waist.

Yeah, I don't care about being fashionable in this case.  I just want to be warm.  Cheap coat, cheap hat and gloves, and some hand warmers.  I think I'll just look like a homeless person.  :D

I am bringing my camera.  I was hoping to have a new fancy camera by then, but I don't think that'll happen.  Again, time is going too fast.  :-/  But really, Shannon is the person for pictures.  Hers are always awesome.

Yeah, Shannon, that's the closest I've been too.  We didn't do too bad considering that stage was SMALL, but I'd like to be at the front.  Just once. :D

I will definitely be bringing my camera. It's got a 10x optical zoom. I've been itching to get good Goo pics with it. My pics from the summer weren't too bad but I can do so much better if I'm closer. My goal is the rail for once in my life....and that is why I'm not even entering for the m&g.

That's a goal for me too. To get up really close as close as I can to the rail for one show. It'd be a nice dream.

Ahhh so you're the photographer Shannon. I myself enjoy taking pictures too. I have a Kodak Z740. 10X Zoom as well. I'm SO excited. I used it last concert, it served me well.

My camera has served me well too. I have a Canon S1 IS and I love it. Of course there's an S3 out now that I'm just dying to have. I've really gotten into photography over the past 3 years. I have a friend who's a very good photographer and she's given some great pointers for picture taking at concerts. The information has definitely been helpful. I've gotten LOTS of practice taking pictures at the various Keith Urban shows I've been to but I just haven't had luck with the Goo shows. I'm hoping my bad Goo luck is about to end.

Ahh, the newest version. I think the companies make sure they come out with a camera every 6-8 months to keep their profits up. I like my camera, I'm not sure it was the newest version when I had gotten it, but it works really well and takes really clear shots.

I hope you get some great shots from  up front...CAUSE I WANT COPIES!!! lol.

Did you order them from ticketmaster or from the JLC itself?

I had Tara call the JLC and order the tickets, and I got them like a week after.

I wonder why they aren't there yet?

It was my understanding that the IM tickets weren't mailed until a week before the show. I haven't received mine yet either. I'm not worried yet.

Oh, oh! I get it now! Then they should come.

So IM uses a different company to get the tickets instead of ticketmaster?

Yeah, IM uses another ticketing agency.  It's out of NY.

I posted a thread on the IM website and it looks like tickets are coming just in time for the shows.  Someone posted that their show is on the 4th and they got their tickets on the 23rd of October.  So I'm hoping they'll get here SOON!

So up until yesterday I was about 90% certain I was not going to this show anymore.  But then I found out that my morning classes the next day were cancelled.  And that the temperature will not be below freezing.  And then my dad handed me free money for no particular reason so my gas fund is back.  I'm still sad though, so I'm at about 50-50.

Anyways... here's the question.  When are the GA people planning to get there?

Title: Re: London Ontario Question..

Terri and I are leaving around 1pm. It's a 21/2-3 hour drive depending on customs. So I guess you could expect us at around 4pm or so. I believe the doors open at 6:30pm.

I really hope you go Nicole. ;D I'm not above begging either. ;)

I don't think customs at 1 or 2 on a Wed. will be very time consuming.  At least they aren't in my little area of the world.

I was planning to go right from school at 11 that day and it's about 2 1/2 - 3 hours for me.  Maybe I should take a long lunch before I start the trip...

Please don't beg. :D As long as a snow storm doesn't hit I think I'm in (yes, knock on wood right now).

The boarder shouldn't  be bad on our side at this time.

I went shopping last weekend on 14 Mile, and we came back and The Customs officer asked us if we had anything my mom had this whole speech and everything, she got the words "Ye...Yes" out of her mouth and he waved us off.

I was like, HA! That's amazing.

I love Ottawa!  I'd happily return.  I do hope I'd realize I was lost before Ottawa though...

I haven't heard any adds.  But I did hear the Goos on Mix 99.9 in studio today.  :D

You did? Live? Today? On Mix 99.9?
*sigh* I always miss the fun stuff. *sigh*

Well, they better be on the radio here Friday morning or I'll be bugging my radio station all day until the concert.

I like Ottawa too, except our hockey team (they get on my nerves sometimes, but that's a whole other story).

It wasn't very exciting... It was short.  They talked about the Canadian election and how John used it as an excuse to talk to Canadian girls... typical John.  Told the U-Haul story AGAIN.  I don't remember anything else right now.

If you think it's me, just call my name! I'll be with a girl in a wheelchair, you really can't miss that.
