Title: A look back at the Ford Senior Players Tournament

Since this year's tournament will be the last stop in Dearborn for the Ford Senior Players Championship, it only makes sense to take a look back at 16 years of memories since the Champions Tour made our city an annual stop for one of its majors.

2005: Peter Jacobsen made his Dearborn debut a memorable one, rolling in a long birdie putt from deep in the collection area to the left of the 16th hole en route to a come-from-behind victory over Hale Irwin. Jacobsen began the fourth round in a three-way tie for sixth place with David Eger and Doug Tewell. They were at 9-under, three strokes behind Irwin, who was alone atop the leaderboard. Jacobsen tied Irwin for first with the birdie on 16, sank another on 17, then parred 18. Irwin missed birdie putts on 17 and 18 and the title slipped away. Jacobsen slipped onto the stage adjacent to the 18th green to introduce the Goo Goo Dolls, who performed a rock concert for a sea of fans who crowded the grounds in response to the notion that, "these guys are Goo," as opposed to the Champions tour motto, "these guys are good."

I'll never forget this show last year. It was unbelievably HOT!!! Thank heavens for the Ford air conditioned tent Terri and I had the priviledge of sitting in all day. And I had a meet and greet. I still to this day remember every detail of that meet and greet right down to John's arm around me ... that's just something you never forget.

But the real question is: Did that Shannon/Goo pairing cause any manholes to explode?

LOL ... No not that time. I've got a show coming up in July and I'm praying nothing explodes that day. I can't take that kind of disappointment again.

That was my first Goo show. :)  It was amazing!

Shannon, how did you get a meet and greet pass for that show?

My friend Terri won us VIP tickets to the show through 96.3's radio station. We were able to sit in the catered, air condidtioned Ford VIP tent. The port-a-potties even smelled like cinammon and had hardwood floors. Anyway, all the VIP winners names were put into a lottery at the end of the week and my friend won the meet and greet ... she's very Goo lucky. She's also the one who won us tickets and meet and greets to the promo show here in May .... the one with the exploding manhole covers.

Not only did the portos smell good and have hard wood floors....They were HUGE and they were air conditioned and had good music playing. The mirrors were nice and big. The access to its nice icy cold water seemed like a GOD send!!! About 3o'clock in the afternoon when the sun was blazing overhead...you'd find yourself finding reasons to use the bathroom.
That show was well worth it though.   Damn right!!! lol! I was one of the 1st peeps there. 6am!!!
What a great birthday it was.

She has the most unbelievable luck when it comes to Goo. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be her guest every time she wins.

That's cool!  I had VIP tickets too because my dad is friends with someone who works for Ford and he got us in VIP so we got to use the nice bathrooms, but we weren't offered a Meet and Greet!  You are so lucky to have gotten to go to 2 Meet and Greets!

Yes, I am. I also had the meet and greet at the Private Buffalo show before the LIB taping. Unfortunately for me and the other winners the meet and greet and concert in May never happened because the manholes were exploding and lives were in danger. We haven't been told either way if the Goos are going to try to reschedule those meet and greets when they're here in July. We're all hoping.

I've been so fortunate to meet them twice now. The first one was a complete blur....my brain completely abandoned me. The second one I remember like it just happened.....I can still feel John's arm around me. It was fast but it was special too.
