Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown has received generous helpings of words of support since taking office at the start of this year.

None may be as cool as the brief comment that appears in the liner notes of the Goo Goo Dolls' latest album, "Let Love In."

Robby Takac, bass player and vocalist for the Buffalo-based band, threw the words "good luck Byron" into a long list of people and companies he thanked.

We're not sure when the mayor took on Madonna-like, first-name-only status, but this is sure to boost his cool quotient.

"I'm definitely pleased that Robby wished me good luck and certainly appreciate the band thinking of their home town in Buffalo," Brown said. No word on whether Brown plans to return the favor by slipping a Goo Goo Dolls reference into his next State of the City address.
