Title: **Genre Switch**

Does anyone here know the reason for the Goo Goo Dolls' genre switch from punk to more adult alt.?  Superstar Carwash kind of initiated this change... and I was just wondering why it occured?

I think because as they got older....their sound evolved into something different than the punk style....like any good music ---it evolves and transforms into something that is different from where it started.....

This is just my opinion by the way

I'd guess, like Shannon, that it's just the way they've evolved. One way to think about it is to look back at the music you liked about 15 years ago. I know that I, for one, am listening to completely different music nowadays. (It probably doesn't help that 15 years ago, I was 9 and was probably listening to such classics as "I'm a Pink Toothbrush, You're a Blue Toothbrush"... :P)
As we all change our musical tastes and general interests, I'd assume they have done so too. In some ways I think it would be more odd if the music had stayed the same, really.
But to be honest, who really knows? Only the band themselves could say for sure.... :dunno:

I'm so glad I wasn't drinking when I read that, because I would have spat all over the keyboard! lol.
