Title: Omg did you hear, Goos NOT closing!! Post by BitterPills on Apr 28th, 2006, 2:29pm God I hope this isn't true!!!! :'( Hope this is okay to post: Saw this over on the AG board, the admin posted this today: yes, officially, the counting crows will close all dates except for at buffalo, there the goos will close. sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings .. Are they serious? I thought they were co-headling and switching off nites, what the hell is this?? :pissed: The Goos will OPEN everynite? With a new CD? :pissed: While the Counting Crows haven't put out an album since 2002? :o How on earth did this happen and why? This is crap, they've earned the right to close :'( Maybe THATS why the tickets are so high, and every article says Counting Crows/Goos tour, not the other way around and tickets so far are listed under Counting Crows only. We're gonna pay for CC that they have NOTHING out right now??? :'( Tickets are starting at $65 I've seen, and some casinos and other venues start much higher that that. How are we supposed to afford a few shows at these prices, when I couldn't afford to go to any of the special concerts since Gutterflower tour ended or NYE shows as it was :'( I wasn't too thrilled that they were supposed to be switching off every other nite to begin with, and now we hear this? :'( This means the Goos are not closing, this is not their headling tour, and they will not come back for an encore...this is a sad sad day.... :'( Hope this is a mistake :'( |

Title: Re: Omg did you hear, Goos NOT closing!! Post by AirHej on Apr 28th, 2006, 2:37pm That blows. How did they go to headlining their own tour for Gutter Flower to opening for the Counting Crows? GIVE ME A BREAK. I'm going to leave after the Goos set. |

Title: Re: Omg did you hear, Goos NOT closing!! Post by ShanGooFan on Apr 28th, 2006, 2:51pm This is a co-headlining tour which means they get to play the same amount of time. I don't really mind. The first show I see I'll stay for CC to check them out. If I go to another show after and don't enjoy CC I'll just leave ... no big deal. |

Title: Re: Omg did you hear, Goos NOT closing!! Post by nmf016 on Apr 28th, 2006, 3:37pm This is just about my final straw... I can understand not switching on and off every night, because I think it would be a logistical nightmare. The order lights and equipment would be different every day. So I think one band has to be first and one has to be last. However, I believe the Goos themselves said they'd be switching on and off, so why did they lie to us if they're truly okay with the situation? And if they're okay with being in the first slot, why switch it up for the Buffalo show? Plus, it concerns me that since this concert is potentially half and half GGD/CC fans, then the Goos are going to be playing to unfilled ampitheatres every night where they are treated like an opening band. I really don't even want to go to the concert if there's a lackluster moderately empty crowd. A good crowd energy usually completes a great concert. In my attempt to be unbiased, I can't even fathom why the Goos would go on before the CC. They don't have new material and in terms of recent hits, the Goos dominate the CC commercially and on the charts. Between this news and the crazy expensive tickets and the fact that I dislike the new album and hate the Inner Machine bullshit, I don't have much that's good to say right now. I think I'm gonna check out of the Goo world for a little bit... |

Title: Re: Omg did you hear, Goos NOT closing!! Post by BitterPills on Apr 28th, 2006, 4:40pm Sorry, thats not true, switching off nites isn't a problem with lights/equipment. Def Leppard/Bryan Adams did it everynite when they co-headlined/toured together last summer - I went to one of the shows, everything was perfect, there were no problems, they switched off every other nite just fine. They're doing it again this summer with Journey There has to be more to it than this, something is very wrong here :'( |

I mean...you'll have more to talk about when you stand next to Robby and are nagging to think of something to say or while your kindly asking John to put his cigarette out because he just burned a hole in his Camo's and you'd be devastated if he ever set himself on fire lol....okay sorry getting a little exageratted but it could be a good thing... Title: Re: Omg did you hear, Goos NOT closing!! Post by eheaps on Apr 28th, 2006, 5:34pm The fact that Goo are the first of the two bands on stage does not effect how long they play and YES they will still do an ENCORE. I saw 3DD and Nickelback do a Co-headline tour and they switched each night, but NB, who went first, still did an encore, as did 3DD. It is a shame, but they are still the goos, and they still kick ass live!!! IM STILL PUMPED!! tryin to be optimistic here... |

Ditto! I am psyched just to go see them live again....I dont care who goes first, I just want to see them. My only request is that they really do play a full set...and not like 5 songs as an opening act. |

Title: Re: Omg did you hear, Goos NOT closing!! Post by Caroline on Apr 28th, 2006, 6:19pm Do you think there will be a third act to do a short opening set? I think the odds are good there will be one. |

Title: Re: Omg did you hear, Goos NOT closing!! Post by sympathy_0 on Apr 28th, 2006, 8:54pm Dont get me wrong, i LOVE the goo's , love the new album, but im just happy ill be seeing them! I do think something is messed up, Because the CC wont even have a new album out (i dont think) ON the tour, so why close? But come on people, Beggars cant be choosers. |

Title: Re: Omg did you hear, Goos NOT closing!! Post by JohnnysValentine on Apr 28th, 2006, 9:12pm I'm disappointed that the Goos aren't closing but I will still go to the show. I'm not into CC so I'll just leave after the Goos set. And since they are co-headlining the set will be a decent length, not like an opening act length. I'm just excited to see the Goos live again!!! Oooh! Now THERE's some good news! :nanner: LC kicks butt! I'm planning on seeing them in Buffalo, so Goos will close, but now I'm wondering if I should do Pittsburgh instead. I can't stand Counting Crows, it would be so much cooler to see LC then the Goos and then head out. |

Title: Re: Omg did you hear, Goos NOT closing!! Post by crazy4goo on May 1st, 2006, 9:47pm I'm kinda glad they're going on first (maybe they wanted it this way?) anyway, not a big fan of CC either, so avoiding the crowds and getting home earlier sounds real good to me |

Title: Re: Omg did you hear, Goos NOT closing!! Post by LadyGoodiva on May 2nd, 2006, 10:11am Well, I just hope the Goos play a full set (90 minutes). I don't really care WHEN they play it. Even though the Goos are the ones with a new CD out, Counting Crows has sold a butt load more CD's over the years. Sorry, but it's true. It's my understanding that their stage set up is more complex as well. Two drum sets, sometimes two pianos, etc. Hang in there! We'll be getting some LIVE GOO before ya know it. |

Title: Re: Omg did you hear, Goos NOT closing!! Post by YoungWriter on May 2nd, 2006, 2:31pm I saw a triple co headlining tour a few years back with Rufus Wainright (solo), Ben Folds (solo), and Guster. What they did, every night, was switch the order. The opener got 25-30 minutes (Rufus at my show. The middle person got 45-60 minutes (Ben at my show, and he did do a one song encore). Closer got 1.5 hours. However, it was a very minimal stage setup. And really guys think about it: The Goos have sold a bit more than 6 million albums (and most of those sales came from ABNG and DUTG). CC has sold much more consistently and higher. I'll still be waiting for a headlining tour. |

Title: Re: Omg did you hear, Goos NOT closing!! Post by Dian4Goo on May 2nd, 2006, 7:17pm well, i hope this isn't true. i just emailed my friend in england to see how it's set up there. she sees them in a few weeks. i'm gonna be royally pissed if i spend all that money on tickets and GAS and they only play 45 fucking minutes! if it's set up that they both play two hours or so, that's cool. but otherwise, it blows a big one! oh, that inner machine, drawing lots for the meet and greet thing is a bunch of crap, too! ~susan~ |

Well, someone needs to tell Robby. Got this from the "It's All Goo" board: "I asked Robby about the Counting Crows closing out the shows. "Well, we are in the middle, but technically co-headlining." I go "Are you playing the same length set as them?" His response "Well, yeah, but not really." (NOT ENCOURAGING). He then goes "At least you can leave early if you don't want to hear Mr.Jones" LoL." |
