Title: The Official "Dream Set List" Thread
Post by IMreallyKUMPFy on Apr 24th, 2006, 6:53pm
well, to tell you the truth, i'm getting frustrated reading about so many negative reviews of LLI on the FAN-SITE forums, so I've created a thread for all you Goo lovers to post your dream set list.

Here's the rules, just post your dream 18 song set list, either in your "dream-order" or just in any random order.

P.S. Encore is included in the 18 songs, and 18 seems to be the average number of songs in one of Goo's full sets

All 8 studio albums and any covers / B-sides are of course welcome!

Happy posting!

So are you calling people who don't blindly adore LLI not fans?

nope, just simply saying that if you don't even own the tangible cd to go buy it listen to it a few times through and then post your opinions.

and PEOPLE!!!

GET OVER IT, GOO WILL NOT EVER PRODUCE ANOTHER ALBUM LIKE SUPERSTAR CAR WASH.  THEY ALREADY DID IT!

THEY ALREADY WROTE AN ALBUM LIKE A BOY NAMED GOO!

IT'S CALLED "A BOY NAMED GOO"!

thank God the Goos don't produce the same record over and over again.  if they did that we'd call them nickelback or 3 doors down.  now i do enjoy those two bands, all their albums sound extremely similar.  what's the point of producing the same album over and over again?

evolve, mature, find yourself, that's what music and songwriting is all about

Wow, someone is getting a bit worked up.

So if you don't wanna read negative reviews then...don't click the thread?

And if they own the CD and still don't like it, its cool, right?

Because I don't think anyone is really expecting another big rock album, not that SSCW was a big rock album.  It had its moments, but it still had the hooks, the brief guitar solos, and all the other things that made records like ABNG and DUTG successful.

Its just that, after Gutterflower, which was a fairly not slickly produced type album with only one slow song, we get an album that has a cover thats already been released, and 3 ballads.

If they wanna make soft music thats fine, but I don't like how they're doing it.  Maybe I should make them a mix of Iron & Wine and hand it to them :D

Anyway, I don't think I could plan out a set at the moment, but there are songs I would just HAVE to have.  And I'm leaving out new songs because I haven't had time to really fit them into the mix of things.

In no particular order:

1.  Dizzy
2.  Here is Gone (I have a bootleg where they transition these two songs just perfectly)
3.  Naked (video version)
4.  Janurary Friend
5.  Tucked Away
6.  Never Take the Place of Your Man (Robby on vocals, bring out horns and Lance Diamond at the end)
7.  Bitch (horns and Lance Diamond)
8.  Sympathy
9.  Slide
10.  Black Balloon
11.   Stop the World
12.  String of Lies
13.  Cuz You're Gone w 1000 words
14.  Broadway (dear Goos, please get a sax player for this one, or bring out a harmonica player...or anything, the guitar solo, while okay...the alternatve versions are better)

Encore:
15.  Acousitc #3 (solo)
16.  Two Days in February (John and Robby, do the pseudo-rock distortion type stuff like is found on LIB)
17.  Another Second Time Around
18.  Just the Way You Are

PS:  I don't plan on going on the Counting Crows GGD tour because, well, I just can't afford it unless I win tickets.  However, if I start hearing they play Just the Way You Are, I'll be there.

Yeah, I know, I left out Iris.  It was the song that got me into the Goos, but I could go the rest of my life without hearing it ever again.

EDIT:  AH!  I don't have Cuz You're Gone in here....okay, Fallin Down got the axe.
