Title: Inner Machine has launched!
Post by ShanGooFan on Apr 24th, 2006, 4:13pm
I just read over on AG that the Inner Machine has officially launched. Over 18,000 emails are being sent out over the next couple of hours. Keep an eye on those email boxes!

Oh and a headsup ... it is $30 to join. I personally don't think that's bad for a fanclub. The perks usually outweigh the cost.

Just joined ;D

At first I saw the $30 and I wasn't sure....but it works out to about 8 cents a day. I can handle that. :)

The website they give you in the e-mail is http://secure.googoodolls.com/

Then you create a username and password and you have to purchase your membership from the products section of the website.

aww, haha. no you won't. they didn't forget about you, I promise.

Of course I signed my email up probably 5 times because I kept getting paranoid that I hadn't signed up properly or something. Maybe that's why I already got one.

No, no.  I got the email.  I just refuse to partake in the endless giving away of money...

It's getting harder every day for me to support this band.  (I say that knowing I sound like a crazed delusional fan, but I swear I'm pretty sane)

Just FYI for those of us who were wondering:

How do meet and greets and pre-sales work for members?

Meet and greets will generally become available 2-4 weeks prior to a concert, and will be available for most concerts. There are 10 spaces available for each meet and greet, and these will be given out on a first come basis. Check the member site frequently to see when a new meet and greet is made available on the Inner Machine site tour page. There are a few important points:
- These are passes for a special INNER MACHINE meet and greet, not tickets to the show. You must already have tickets to the show.
- The pass is good for you alone. Passes are not transferable and you will need ID. Members 12 years old or under may bring a guardian with you.- The band will NOT be signing autographs; one photo will be taken and made available online.
- Each member may register for up to 2 (two) meet and greets per year.

Pre-sales will be made available to INNER MACHINE members via the tour page if and when available.

You have to go to "exclusives"  what cute video clips... Well worth my $30.

Yeah, for the quota of ten people and photo . . . is that one group photo, or is that one photo per person?  No big deal, but I was just wonderin' aloud . . .

I paid my $30, but I seriously don't think this is worth it... its pretty much the same thing as the EOAC and Gutterflower special sites, only i have to pay for it... same archived clips, the same icons and wallpaper as the regular site, the same blog as the regular site, and a meet and greet for just 10 people, first come first serve????  10 people?!?!??  totally not worth my money every year..... hopefully there will be presale opportunities available for shows like U2.......  big disappointment >:(

i think if you pay to join something you should automatically get a meet and greet space. seems unfair everyone pays the same amount and only a select few have the chance of using some of the features. i don't undertand why a forum should be under the inner machine. why should anyone have to pay to discuss the band with other fans through the official channel?

i worked it out and it's 16.81 in British Pounds. I don't know if we can join though but there are meet and greats for the UK shows so i imagine so.

It's like they've just conned us out of 16 to join...

the meet and greats sound so ridged. if i meet the band i'd rather meet them by chance and say hi or whatever rather than be in a room with 9 other people where we're not allowed autographs or to take photos of our own. doesn't sound like a fun environment.

I'm in ;D

I signed up both me and my gilrlfriend, so now we get to meet the Goos in Sweden.

Way, way cool:-)

I was up very early getting ready for work and checked to see if it launched before I left the apartment. I'm guessing they launched it at midnight or soon after because I was on the site signing up at 5am. I'm soooo happy to have this offical fan club with perks for members!! From what I hear almost every fan club charges $30 a year so I know the price is fair.

exactly what I was thinking. they're only giving away 10 M&G per show and their management won't let them sign one thing?

I can understand paying for meet and greets but I do think it's ridiculous that you have to pay the money just to be able to visit the site and post on the forum. That should be free.

Well, it seems they have changed their mind a bit about M&Gs...

"04.25.06: Meet and Greet Policy Change
The policy for the meet and greets are going to change this afternoon. The limit is going to be increased to 15 members per meet and greet from 10, and meet and greets will be determined on a lottery basis rather than first come. Any member will be able to register for a meet and greet, and the 15 winners will be picked at random from all registrations. This will be in effect for the summer tour and for all forthcoming dates. For the European meet and greets, the 10 people for each show who already have meet and greet passes will keep them; we will be opening up 5 more spaces for each show - these will be given away on the lottery basis."

I don't know that I like the lottery deal either.  I believe that if we paid to join the Inner Machine, we should be guaranteed a spot in the meet & greet.  Or if they're going to limit the number the way they have, let us bring a guest if we win.  I don' t know about anyone else here, but I'm planning on taking my younger sister....and if I get a spot in the meet & greet, I don't want to leave her alone in the ampitheater....I'm just really uncomfortable with that whole idea....

Ditto on not liking the idea of leaving my guest behind, but i like the idea of the lottery.... If we are all registering and paying, why should we not all be given the luck of the draw??? I paid my $30, and if I dont get a meet and greet, then at least I know I paid $30 to the Goos and it was worth it for them. I'd rather pay them $30 than have ticketmaster rape me for tickets.

I just wish there was some guarantee of pre-sale tickets.

I'd rather not pay for a fanclub that MIGHT have tickets.

My wife and I both registered for the Inner Machine yesterday in hopes of scoring Meet and Greet passes to ANY show. It was very underhanded the way they switched the terms of the Meet and Greet AFTER people paid and registered. I for one was planning on living on the site around the time the dates were released and traveling to WHATEVER site I had to just to attend just to go to a Meet & Greet. My wife and I have traveled to see the Goos all over the country...have seen them over a dozen times with the most recent being NYE in Vegas. I can assure you that I will not be renewing the Inner Machine membership because of this. And it is absurd that you are limited to one pass per lottery pick. I guess they figure that people only attend concerts by themselves. At least before I had a chance to have both my wife and I attend...now it's next to impossible.

We always hear about how Goos are so fan friendly...
Goos will always be our favorite band but whoevers in charge of Inner Machine really blew this one.

I still haven't got my e-mail, so I haven't joined.

However, I have been in several other fan clubs (mainly country music) and this is pretty standard meet & greet procedure.  The most members I've seen per show allowed is 30 (that's Rascal Flatts), the least is 5 and none of them allow you to bring a guest.  Most of them have a lottery system now as well, so that's pretty standard too. The no autograph thing....that depends on the artist. Some will hand you a pre-signed pic when you get there, some allow you to get 1 thing signed, and some only take a picture.

The part that's getting me nervous is the presales may or may not happen.  I'm not the type to pay $30 for a messageboard, and since I typically see the guys in Buffalo, you KNOW how many M & G requests they'll get for that show.   :o  However, if it gets me a chance at presale tickets $30 is totally worth it to me.

Well, to have each person bring a guest would double the number to thirty people.  Try counting one to thirty outloud, and then imagine devoting a bit of time to each individual at basically every show.

I'm not saying that the rules are perfect, only that it's hard to make everyone happy.  The band is only three people, and there are thousands and thousands of us fans, and we all want a moment of their time.  They're probably just trying to keep the number down to prevent themselves from getting burned out from meeting people constantly . . .

True true, last thing you want as a fan is to meet somene you respect and have wanted to meet for ages and have them go "yeah yeah good to meet you bye" least this way we may get more than a sentance.

I guess my main concern is that my sister is under 18, and the venue in West Palm Beach is across the street from a prison...so the area itself makes me a little nervous.  I don't like the idea of having to leave her alone while I go in and hang out to meet the band....eh....that's even if I win.  Maybe I'll know some people that wind up at the show that she can stay with until I get back....

I may be off with two mates that dont really know each other at all. When I leave I just hope and find them both in one piece. One acts like my sister so she'l give the other 20 questions when im gone:P

While I have to admit that I would be happier to be able to bring a guest to M&Gs (it's my mum that I hate to think about leaving alone!! :o ) I really think that the lottery is a much more sensible idea... a lottery system seems fairer in general to people who may not be able to sit in front of their computer to be the "first served".... I also figured it may help to keep people (myself included) from obsessing over being the first.
I get the impression that there was an awareness that their fans (esp'ly european ones) were not pleased with the M&G setup. You can't please everyone all of the time I guess, but I really think that the guys are doing their best...

Well, for those that are concerned about leaving their guests unattended, I'd assume the meets and greets are fairly short.  I'd be willing to bet a pleasant security guard would watch a young guest for you; I mean, their job is to protect, right . . . ?
