Title: To those who are disappointed...
Post by rockprincess86 on Apr 22nd, 2006, 10:28am
It's funny thinking about when we first bought DUTG and how much time has passed since then. I was maybe 12 at the time, and now I'm about to turn 20 :::yikes::: But nevertheless, I think it says something that the band who really did define me back in 7th grade can come back into my life full force when I'm two years into college.
For me, it was always more about the overall experience--the music, combined with the amazing shows, awesome fellow fans and incredible warmth I felt from the band when I met them.

I can say, from what I've heard thus far, I genuinely like LLI.  Sure, it's not DUTG or any of the other older cds that may be one of our favorites, but it's still good music, made by the three boys whose music has always given me a certain sense of comfort.

So to those who are less than satisfied with LLI, I say look past that and instead look forward to all that it means--new live shows, new great memories, etc etc.

I was dissapointed...but I was dissapointed at VH1 for letting me hear it...now I have heard it, and I agree with you.  I like it, I think it shows a real sense of maturity and it's good that it's a new kind of sound for the band, but with the same goo-ness that we all know and love.

Take a song like "Become" for example...doesn't sound like anything they've ever written before, yet it is so beautiful and heartwarming of a song that it is still amazing.

LET LOVE IN!

I think the new album is great and im looking foward to getting my hands on it on Monday. Think its different but thats whats great about the Goos, no album is like the last, keeps it interesting.

I really like "Better days" and I LOVE "Let Love in"...the song. Other than that, it's not good enough to make me a fan...but i'll admit, enough to stick in my head. I'm not surprised if their new album surpass "DUTG" cuz it's a really catchy album.

Overall, i'm happy with "Let Love in", the song...it FN rocks. If it's just one great song from them every few years...then so be it.

I was initially disappointed as well (except for Stay With You.) But now I'm finding I have a few of the songs stuck in my head, which is always a good sign. Songs that I didn't care for when I first listened to them.

I'm way more excited for the album than when I first listened on vh1.com.  :D

Yeah, like I said in another post....it's not their fault at all, I think it's an internal subjective thing.  The timing of DUTG was perfect, and the older stuff became the perfect accompaniment to my life at the time.  I've been disappointed in both Gutterflower & LLI, but they are still both very good and unique albums.  I've just gotten to a stage where the impact is not the same anymore.

Like most people though, I am finding multiple listens improves the experience.

Awesome post!

I have opted not to hear the album yet, so I can't voice my opinion on that yet.

However, I was about the same age as you were for DUTG, and now I am 3 years in college and I still feel that silly love for them and the music that quite literally WAS my life in 8th grade and onward.
