i just bought my ticket, which was so surreal. i was actually doubting whether i'd get to see the goos ever, but i'm amazingly happy now. i hope they add an extra date because seeing them twice would be awesome.

yeah brixton is a pretty good venue. the only venue i know where the standing floor is slanted so even if you're not at the front you can see over people's heads.

i'd get standing, the balcony is quite far back and no fun!

yeah mine too! i missed the astoria show in 2002 so i'm chuffed i'm finally getting to see them.

i'm gonna be in brighton in june so i'll have to get a train too. brixton academy is easy to find from the tube station, you'll have no trouble. nearer the gig we should try organise a meet up for anyone else who's going, should make the gig more fun.

Hi,

I haven't been around here in ages, since I'm quite busy with college and everything.

Anyway, can some UK goobers give me some advice on how to get to Brixton Academy from the Eurostar station? And how long this would take.
I'm "considering" taking the Eurostar to London just to see the Goo Goo Dolls. It's quite insane, but I've missed them every time now... :(

Just thumbs up that they'll visit Germany/Holland/France/Belgium in the week before June 3rd, that might make it easier for me. :)

the best way would be to take a tube from the waterloo station to brixton tube station, which is on the victoria line. brixton academy is a 5 minute walk from the tube station. if you wanted to get to brixton from the eurostar station it wouldn't be complicated. i could give you more help nearer the time as to what tube line to get etc.

brixton is not the nicest place but i've never had any trouble there. security are really good and there's a seperate street to queue on, unlike some venues where i've queued practically in the road!

Wheeeee, omg omg omg! i'm so excited! lol. I've just booked my tickets!!! My sisters paying for mine as my birthday present, which is actually this month and the gig's in June! lol but still.....only 2 months away!! Have to admit, wasn't keen when i first heard it was at brixton, cause i've also heard that the area has a reputation for being rough, but loadsa people have reasurred me, as it's on a main road, and there's going to be loadas people about anyhow! I live on the outskirts of London, so i only have to travel into the city, will be a long tube ride tho. Who's travelling from where? Any guys not familiar with london, let me know. I'll help ya with directions, just PM me or something :)

nah it's not 18+. you have to be over 14 to actually go in the standing bit though. i'll probably get to brixton about midday. i don't mind queuing and i've got to meet some bands before they go in if i'm there early enough. all the standing up is worth it once the band comes on.

probably. i read on the goos myspace comments they came out after their toronto show to sign autographs. the stage door for brixton is on the same street as the entrance and i've seen loads of bands actually going in before the show, which is what i'm hoping i'll see if i go early enough.

I got the standing/seating tix, as my sisters coming with me. She doesn't usually go to these kinda gigs as it's really not her thing, she's only coming for me bless her. And she's little in height, so thought better get seating, don't think she'll cope with standing and being squashed! lol. I don't mind though, cause i was standing last time, and was right out the front. Got some brilliant pix from the astoria gig. How do you post them on here?? Will love to share with you guys! :D

We've got standing too :)  We were up on the balcony the last time at The Astoria which was fab, but we're looking forward to being on the floor this time.  Hope to see many of you there!

At the last gig I went to they confiscated everyone's before they went in, at the band's request (kinda stupid, as everyone but me has a camera phone...  ::) )

What i usually do is take a desposable camera, so if they do take it away, you won't be losing anything that's of a personal valuble to you.

Lou and Nic, you went to the astoria gig too!! Funny enough, i got talking to 2 girls whilst we were queing! I think i must have been queing from about 3! hehe.
I haven't got them posted online anywhere, but i can scan them when i have some time and post them on here. Let me know how i can do it, and i'll post them up! :)

Last time I took camera to David Gray gig it was only no flash photography so was allowed. Spose if they getting loadsa flashes mite anoy them. Anoys me when im on stage.

i've taken a camera to brixton loads of times. just hide it when you get checked or something.

i'm deffinatly up for meeting whoever wants to. we'll have to have a meet up and all go in and stand together or something. i would suggest going for a drink but pubs in brixton are not nice and i don't wanna exclude any under 18s.

june can't come quick enough.

Oh yes, we were most definitely there - one of the most incredible gigs we've witnessed!  It was amazing wasn't it?!

Wonder if that was us?! lol We didn't actually arrive until late though as we had to collect tickets on the door.  We would've been standing near the front of the queue but in a separate queue if that makes sense?  Does it ring any bells?!

If you want, we'd be happy to host your pictures for you when you get round to scanning them?  Otherwise, there are different photo albums on-line that you can use but we've never had to as we use our own webspace.  Let us know :)

Thanks for all the advice - we're pretty seasoned gig goers but have never been to this particular venue before.

Can you advise if there any shops or anything nearby?  We're obviously not planning a bout of shopping lol but would be good to know if we can grab a drink or something on the way in!

Well I managed to get tickets for Brixton, but I decided to settle for the seating. I probably could have persuaded my Dad to get tickets for the stalls, but he's old and I could tell that he wouldn't be able to stand up for so long. Thought I'd put him first - I mean, he's willing to drive the 5 hours down to London for me.

Nonetheless, I can't wait for it. I don't think I'll be meeting with any of you though, because I'm young and would feel out of place.  ::)

it's really easy to find. turn right out of the tube, walk down the main road until you see the venue on your left. it's just off the main road but you can see it from the main road.

you're very welcome to meet with us bobthefish, i'm 20 which isn't exactly old.

i just noticed standing tickets for the gig have sold out - ADD ANOTHER DATE GOOS! i'm up for two shows.

Judging by what you said, it doesn't sound like us although the funny part is our Dad collected us after the show lol

Looking forward to your photos when you get a chance, ours were nearly all blurred - it was a new camera at the time and we obviously weren't used to it!

Lol that is funny. Phantom planet opened for the boys at london astoria, i wonder who they'll have this time? Do you think they'll have one? Can't be counting crows cause their tour together starts June 21st.
I got a goo plectrum at the last gig!! :D. It was on the floor near the stage, and the security guy had picked it up, i was more or less begging pleeease could he give it to me, and everyone else was trying to grab at it. Some guy tried to nick it out my hand as he gave it to me! >:(....i was like, i don't think so mate! lol

Earsy....you've said you've been to brixton before. I've got the seating/standing tix. I was looking at the pics on the brixton academy site, just to see what the venue was like and how the stage was set out. I noticed to the side of the stage, there's a balcony, but it just looks like it's there for scenery or something. Can you actually stand/seat around that area? I'm just wondering as i'll then know where the best place to be to get a good view.

Aahh, so tempting, lol. But my uni exams start two days later... plus, I have no more money  :(

Apparently Brixton aren't too fussy about taking cameras in... just don't bring anything that looks at all professional (ie no slrs)

hey,

the balcony to the side of the stage is not an area you can sit. there is a balcony but it's at the back of the room directly facing the stage. i have stood on the floor of brixton to the side of the stage and you don't get any of the crush you get normally if you wanted to stand really close on the floor but not get crushed. i've never been up on the balcony so i don't know how good the view is up there. the floor at brixton is on the slant, like a cinema screen floor so even if you're stood behind people you are slightly higher than them.

hi im going to both the london gigs and will be willing to meet up if anyone wants to. also i emailed brixton academy regarding cameras and they said this:

Thank you for your email. The venue usually allows all personal cameras including small digital, but sometimes the artist requests that all photography is prohibited. The venue will then confiscate the cameras, issue a receipt and give the cameras back at the end. We will not know this until the day of the show usually. All professional cameras with detachable lenses, video cameras and audio equipment are strictly prohibited.

i cant imagine the goos would stop us taking pictures though. they're too nice! well hope this helps.

i hope they play a mixture of stuff. obviously there will be a substancial amount of songs from lli. the good thing about two dates at the same venue is bands normally mix up the songs over the two days so there is some variety in older songs. if they don't i will be really disappointed.

My Dad bought tickets for the first London gig because I presumed it would be the only UK date. Now we've got Manchester tickets and no longer need the London tickets. So my Dad is naturally selling the (seating) tickets on Ebay. If it was up to me, I'd sell them for the original face value, but my Dad seems to have upped it to a fairly high �27.00. Mine arrived last Friday (I think??). I ordered them through ticketmaster the first day they were released.

They tell you not to panic until five days before the gig though :)

different ticket outlets send them out at different times. i havn't got mine yet. i wouldn't start worrying till bout 2 weeks before the gig. if you got an e-mail conformation you'll deffinatly have a ticket!

Hey guys! Was just wondering about the venue.
I got tix for seating, but at brixton it's unreserved seating/standing, obviously meaning that you can sit anywhere, your not assigned to specific seats. But today i got an email about confirmation saying my tix have been despacted, and the details of it etc. And it said 2 tix cir - and then like 2 sets of numbers ??? I thought maybe they were seat numbers. I'm prolly just being really clueless and they might not have anything to do with the seat numbers at all. I really don't want to have to sit/stand somewhere specifically when i thought seating would be unreserved. :-/
Does anyone know about the seating at brixton, and how it works?

Well we've never been to Brixton ourselves so can't be 100% sure but we'd guess that the numbers they quoted are just ticket numbers so they can keep track of what they're selling.  We got quoted numbers on our standing tix too.  Hope that helps :)

cirlce means the upstairs balcony which is the seating area. they don't have seat numbers up there as far as i know so those numbers should just be random ones.
