i'm in love with someone, and they love this song, I'm trying very hard to understand that person, and if I understand this song I think I might be better able. so if anyone "gets" this beautiful song or has any idea as to what inspired it, I'd appreciate the help.

i'm sure if you listen to it a time or two you'd probably get what he's singing about, but i don't think one has to take a song literally to love it. �it may mean one thing to johnny, but it may mean bunches of different things to different people. �sometimes songs wrap themselves around us and we hear them and feel them so the meaning is our own and has nothing to do with what the author of the song had in his head at the time.

maybe the best thing you could do is to ask the girl what it means to her, listen to it again, and maybe then you'd have the insight you're looking for.
