Title: Why GGDs played on RMA.....
Post by [Joelage] on Dec 30th, 2005, 7:10am
I'm not sure if this is true, but this is what the article says

Bice, 30, fell ill yesterday while rehearsing for a performance for the awards at the Aladdin Resort and Casino, Roger Widynowski, a publicist for RCA Records, told Associated Press.

"He didn't collapse but was rushed to the hospital," Widynowski said. "Bo is doing fine, and he's going back to Nashville today for treatment."

Bice was in Las Vegas with other Idol contestants in August when he underwent emergency surgery to repair a blocked intestine. The recovery time forced him to stop touring with the show.

The Goo Goo Dolls were to replace Bice for today's live Radio Music Awards broadcast on NBC in the US, said Carrie Simons, a spokeswoman for the network.

It's true.  Ashlee Simpson was supposed to perform, but she was hospitalized in Japan the weekend before the show.  So Bo Bice replaced her and then he was hospitalized during the RMA rehearsals, so the Goos got a frantic night before phone call to perform.

I think it's kind of cool in so much as that it got their performance a lot of attention and it shows that the Goos are ready to perform in a moment's notice.  But I still think it says a lot about the entertainment industry when the first two scheduled performers weren't even nominated for any awards and the Goos got to play only as a third choice when they were nominated for 2 awards.

I agree. I think it also supports the philosophy of "everything happens for a reason." I completely believe in that. The Goos were meant to perform that night.  ;D

Yup totally agree with "everything happens for a reason" ... I figured it was because they (being the RMA people) knew the Goo's were going to win and wanted to make sure they were at the show to accept the award.

Yeah I agree with what you guys say. Certainly, it shows what the Goos are about, to put in a great performance..
