I managed to get my paws on an Advanced copy of A Boy Named Goo, purely for the "Stand Alone" track.

I've never heard it before, and i'm wondering why it didnt make the final cut for A Boy Named Goo?

Stand Alone is an awesome song, but it was written by George Tutuska. The song appeared on the advance promo version of ABNG only! When George was dismissed from the band, John and Rob felt that it would be in everyone's best interest to remove Stand Alone from ABNG, and they replaced it with Disconnected and Slave Girl. The rest is history. :rockin:

Also, on the same advance promo version of ABNG, Ain't That Unusual was labeled as Someday. It eventually reverted back to Ain't That Unusual on ABNG, and it went on to become the song that we all know and love today. :love:

Definitely lucky you! I've never heard the song. I don't think I even knew it exhisted until now .... *slaps hand ... bad fan*

Stand Alone is a great song. It's probably in my top 5 'Robby songs' (even though it's technically a George song).

Strangely, yesterday I was reading an ABNG review from the Buffalo News and they mentioned both Stand Alone and the two cover songs, but those 3 songs never appeared on the record at the same time...

I have that ABNG advanced cd and I love Stand Alone. It is one of my favorite songs that Robby sings. I wish it would have been able to be on the cd.

I am a bad fan too because I have never heard it or knew of it until now. Is there any place to find this advanced copy, or where some of us could hear the song?

This is my favorite Robby song next to "So Outta Line".

Its seems like John took control over the whole thing. Did Robby want the song on ABNG?

Why does it seem like John took control over the song? Both John and Robby have voiced that they didn't want to capitalize off the song, since George wrote it. They replaced it with 2 covers, one which Robby sang. I really like the song, but I can understand why they didn't release it.

i sppose anything with copyright is illegal, but, the main thing is that you don't put anything up that you can buy (because the artist doesn't make money from it),

I remember seeing a post on a message board a few years ago saying that Robby requested that the song was not made available for download.
