Title: Are the goos still hippies? Post by jmanhall1 on Oct 17th, 2005, 10:39pm Okay, i'm a hippie and i can kinda spot one when i see one. I know they were doing punk music with First Release though SSCW, but ABNG didn't really have a punk rock feel, expecaly "Flat Top". I think "Flat top" has a real hippie feel to it. And John was sporting the long hair. I know Robby is definaly still a hippie and i was never sure if Mike was or not. But do you guys still think John is? I'm talking about like a modern day hippie, not like a 70s hippie. This is really just a joke question. |

You would be suprised how many hippies go to my school. You don't have to have lived in the 70s to like The Greateful Dead. I just thought maybe they were since Robby and John are so invald with charities and stuff, but i guess you don't have to be a hippie to be invald. |

Title: Re: Are the goos still hippies? Post by crazy4goo on Oct 18th, 2005, 9:28am LOL ! jmanhall1, you're going to have to educate me...what exactly qualifies one as a "modern day hippie"? When I grew up in the 80s, I felt like I should have been a teenager in the 60s because the hippie life seemed so cool. But then, I matured and realized the hippe culture was basically really dirty people living in communes whose lives revolved around drugs :P I don't think the goos were ever true hippies...they're too young! |

Title: Re: Are the goos still hippies? Post by the_girl_right_next_to_him on Oct 18th, 2005, 9:45am I think Johnny and Robbie are more Punk than hippie. More rebelious than hippie-laid-back. I see them wearing more black clothing than tie-dye...don't you? Mike? Well, I think he borders on down-right preppy/conservative/frat boy! All hot regardless. Although I wrestle with hippie-liberal-tendencies, I am a the total antithesis of a hippie. SUV, Married, Two teens, Suburban planned community, Stay-at-home Mom, French Manicure....Johnny's dream MILF. I have an inner hippie just screaming to come out, but I think it's like a folk-song not grateful dead type hippie. David Gray, Pete Yorn, Martin Sexton, "I like music dude, not noise" hippie. :afro: What the? How did this crazy random thread get going? These boys need to get this CD out before all our brains turn to mush. LOL! |

Someone who finds a high in music (Pink Floyd, The Doors, etc.) , not drugs. I just always thought "Flat Top" was a hippie type song. |

That's cool ! There is alot of great "hippie" music out there...as far as Flat Top, yeah it's got a little hippie vibe. I remember reading somewhere John was inspired to write it because it bothered him that mass media tries to label Generation Xers as lazy, good for nothing, etc. It's a great song, one of my favorites :) |
