Hey all,
I recently found out how to blend pictures together to make sort of a banner and I was wondering if anyone wanted me to make something for them? If you want something just post the pictures here and what you want it to say and any other details I should know. This is the latest thing I've made:

What software did you use to make the blend. I'm starting to learn how to do all this and am so curious. I have Photoshop Elements right now that I can make banners with and it blends pictures together. Is that what you basically did?

I use Adobe Photoshop so it probably is close to what you have. To blend the pictures I highlight the section I want to use and then feather the edges so when it gets put together the edges blend well. Haha, it's kind of hard to describe! Good luck with yours!

Yeah, you can post a few pictures if you want...it's better if there is no more than 4 because it can get kind of long. And then just tell me what you want it to say and if you want anything else on it!

Yes, Adobe Photoshop Elements is considered the little sibling to Photoshop. I downloaded a free 30 day trial to see if I'd like it.

I attempted to do what you suggested and I must not have been doing it right. I was highlighting the edges I thought should be feathered ... is that wrong? Because then it would turn white and I'd have white lines in between the pictures. I know that can't be right. Also, when blending like that does it help to have photos that are similar in color like the ones you made? I've only had this for a couple of days but it's way more complicated than my old photo editor. It's clear I need guidance .... LOL

omg i did it lol.....sorry personal victory there....never knew how to do it before but just worked it out :nanner: lol anyways...that was the first pic and then can i have these two blended either side of it please so the group pic is in the middle :D

I wasn't sure if you wanted it in color or black and white so I did both. Let me know if it's alright or if you need anything changed!

ShanGooFan, when I feather something I go to Select > Feather and then OK. (Or something like that). Then I copy and paste it into a new document. Do that with all the pictures and then just arrange them together. It's so hard to explain...sorry if that doesn't make any sense. It might not even be the same for your program but you can give it a try!

They both look great but I really like the black and white one. I think it looks great.

Thanks for the tips. I'm doing it exactly like that only after I click on 'ok' nothing changes. When I first click on feather before I click on 'ok' there's a box to put in pixel #s ... mine says 5. What # do you input? Maybe that's the problem. Also, when you use your tool bar to make the selection are you highlighting the edges you want to feather or the inside portion you don't want to feather. LOL ... I'm determined to get this.  I made a banner the other day that looks really good but I bet it could look better if I blend it. I'm on a mission now.

Ok, I usually do 10 pixels when I feather. After you do that and click OK nothing is going to happen. You have to copy the selection and paste it in a new document...that's when you see the feathered edges. You should be able to see what you're highlighting when you paste it in a new document. I hope that helps!

Thanks for the tips DreamAway. I'm doing it exactly as you said which is exactly like the Adobe tutorial and it's still not working. It's very frustrating but I'm not giving up. It will eventually work. Thanks again for trying to help.

OK ... I finally figured out the feathering thing ... whew. I was copying it wrong ... now I got it.  :nanner: :nanner:

I have one last question and then I won't bug you anymore ... lol. Do you feather the edge of each picture you're blending? For example ... on the one you made for tkc1989 ... did you just feather the picture in the center or each individual picture in the blend? Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it.

Johns_chick, could you pick out the pictures you want me to use? There are just so many pictures out there and I don't really know which ones you would like best. Also, it's easier to blend if they have similar background so keep that in mind while you're looking for them! When you find them you can just post them here or post the links. Thanks!

Thanks for all the helpful info Dreamaway. You've been more help than you probably realize. I've been working on a blend for my mother-in-law of her with her 3 grandkids ... it's for her birthday. I worked on it a bit today. It looks pretty good but I'm still battling with the white lines. Do you think I'm getting white lines because the colors don't match up? They are three separate pics of her with each grandchild. I'm going to keep plugging away at it and try rearranging the pics in a different order. But do you think that because the background colors are different that's what's giving me the obvious white lines?

By the way ... all your blends look terrific. My goal is to get mine to look like yours.

Aww, that's really cute! I hope it turns out great! Are you talking about white lines in between the pictures? Because if that is happening you need to arrange the pictures closer together. If they start overlapping you might want to feather the edges a little further out on some of them so there is more of a background. The blends that I have been making are kind of hard to explain with because the edges are so straight. Your pictures probably don't have such straight edges. I don't know if this is helping at all. I'll try to find the tutorial I learned from. It's pretty much just trying a whole bunch of new things until you find something that works! Oh, by the way...I forgot to respond to this before...did you figure out how to add text? If not, you have to click the "T" icon and then make a text box. But don't do that until you are finished blending because the text will just get in the way! Good luck!

Thanks so much. I'll try feathering a little further out ... that may help. I did figure out the text thing. The tutorial was very helpful. I've been able to figure out alot of stuff using the tutorial but the feathering and blending is a definite challenge. If you ever find that tutorial that helped you I would really appreciate it. OK Stephanie ... I have another question because this is really starting to frustrate me. When you are arranging the pictures together do you use the photomerge option? If not, what do you do to put them together?

I'm still getting the white lines between the pictures and I tried feathering more. You mentioned having straight lines. My white lines between the pics aren't straight they're angled. I'm using the photomerger but maybe that's what I'm doing wrong. This is getting so frustrating. I just know there's something I'm not doing right.

ShanGooFan, I don't know what photomerge is! When I get the pictures I post them in seperate documents and then feather them there. Then I copy them (after they have been feathered) and post them all into one document. The I just arrange them there. Once I have everything in place I go to Layer > Flatten Image to make them all stay in one place. Let me see try to get some screen shots for you so I can show you what I'm doing!

Ok, this is how I set everything up in the beginning.

That's very helpful Stephanie. THANK YOU!!!! The images were perfect. Thank you for doing that. I've been trying to figure out how to add pictures together without using the photomerge. I had a feeling that was why I was getting the lines.

HA ... I got it to work. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!! The only thing I'm working on now is the sizing...trying to fit it all into the document. Do you resize your pics before you blend them? What sized document do you open up? Once I get the sizing situated I'll be all set.

omg..could you do something like..I'll give u pictures and then  do like in bold writing (so it's really visible)..write like "English", "Psychology", "Marine Biology", "Pre-Cal", "American Government"...so I can use them on my book covers?..if so that'd be really cool!..and like..put in smaller type on the bottom like the name of the band thats on the blend? lol..I know..I just have to be difficult..if you can't do it its cool! Worth a shot tho!

I used to be obsessed with making GGDs things in Photoshop. For awhile I had a new Goo Live Journal layout every week! Hehe.
