Title: "Long Way Down" Punk Cover Post by dizzilyblue on Jul 6th, 2005, 12:02am A friend of mine just told me about this band called Haste the Day that did a punk cover of "Long Way Down" (sorry, maybe this is old news), which I found rather interesting. It's only a short clip, but it made me think of that one contest where all these bands did covers of the Goos' songs a few years back. That was entertaining . . . http://music.msn.com/album/?album=42004371# ~ Amanda |

Title: Re: "Long Way Down" Punk Cover Post by Dream of Goo on Jul 7th, 2005, 5:10pm Speaking of Goo Covers i found that Omar Vizquel cover of Broadway too funny when one of u guys posted it on here a while ago. Out of interest was he joking cos he was trying to sound like how johnny says the words in the song than try and make the song his own. If u get what i mean? |

Title: Re: "Long Way Down" Punk Cover Post by Pon on Jul 9th, 2005, 11:16am Haven't posted in a while but always reading here and there. At first, i was like..a punk cover?? Isn't the goo like already punk and can they really make the song harder without losing any of its flavor? Besides, usually nobody could even get 10% of the quality of John songs...nobody can really do John''s song. However..WOW...they did a good job. Does anybody have the full version? |

Title: Re: "Long Way Down" Punk Cover Post by Rockin_Munchkin on Jul 10th, 2005, 8:49am I got a full copy of it on ares. I gotta say, it's not too bad, but I don't think anybody should try to cover Goo songs...It's just not the same. |

Title: Re: "Long Way Down" Punk Cover Post by natalie on Jul 31st, 2005, 5:51pm thats funny in a lot of ways...Man the goos must be feeling like old timers....if their albums/songs are becoming distant enough to "cover" and reference to. I'm going to say what others may be thinking "LONG WAY DOWN IS 'PUNK' ENOUGH DUDES"its probably flattering. But I do not enjoy that cover one bit music wise. the vocals i dont like. but gold star for trying. |

This was a few years ago during the DUTG era, I think. It was a local Buffalo contest, so most of the bands were from that local area, and I believe 103.3 The Edge let people vote online for their favorites. Yeah, I do not remember any of the band's names unfortunately, but perhaps someone else may . . . ~ Amanda |

Title: Re: "Long Way Down" Punk Cover Post by nmf016 on Aug 8th, 2005, 10:50am They were local bands that did covers. The winner got to be the opening act for the 12/2/99 Buffalo show. The winner was Mexican Cession, who has since disbanded. |
