Title: Robby discovery on Comcast Post by januaryfriend27 on Jul 3rd, 2005, 5:15pm Hey everyone I was flipping thru a slideshow of pictures from some current events that Comcast provides. I was bored so was clicking thru..... All of a sudden, I stumble upon a picture of Robby rocking out with a microphone in hand. I dont have a link to this picture, but he was wearing a brown beanie hat and a brown Tshirt that said "Whose life is it anyways"....The caption with the picture read this: "Goo Goo Dolls bassist Robby Takac performs with a group of students from West Seneca East Middle School in Buffalo, N.Y., in this June 9, 2005, file photo. Takac, 40, may call Los Angeles home now, but he's never far from his hometown of Buffalo, N.Y. He is in the schools bringing donated instruments collected by his Music is Art Foundation. He's at the Albright-Knox Art Museum curating an exhibit. He's helping an HMO raise awareness of lead paint-related illnesses. And he's brainstorming with his alma mater, Medaille College, on music-teaching ideas." (AP Photo/David Duprey, file) There is also a related story: Goo Goo Dolls Bassist Gives to Hometown By The Associated Press BUFFALO, N.Y. - Goo Goo Dolls bassist Robby Takac may call Los Angeles home now, but he's never far from his hometown. He's in the schools supplying donated instruments collected by his Music is Art Foundation. He's at the Albright-Knox Art Museum curating an exhibit. He's helping an HMO raise awareness of lead paint-related illnesses. And he's brainstorming with his alma mater, Medaille College, on music-teaching ideas. Takac's not about to give up his day job. The Goo Goo Dolls - Takac, Johnny Rzeznik and Mike Malinin - are at work on a new album. "I don't consider myself any kind of, like, philanthropist, or any sort of weird, self-righteous savior of the universe or anything like that," Takac, 40, said with a laugh. "It's just, coincidentally, I'm having the time of my life and great things are happening, so I may as well keep it rolling." Some 80 bands took the stage during his Music is Art Festival last month. The two-day event helped highlight local talent. "There's so many talented people here, and so many creative people here and so many motivated people here," Takac said, "and they learn here, they learn to be motivated and efficient and tolerant of things, and then they get really good at everything and move." If someone else can find this and figure out how to copy the picture in here, that would be cool. Thought I would share. |
