Goo Goo Dolls added to Miller anniversary celebration

The Goo Goo Dolls have been added to the festivities planned for Milwaukee-based Miller Brewing Co.'s 150th anniversary celebration.

The Buffalo, N.Y.-based band will perform as part of a free concert at Miller Park on Aug. 20.

In March, Miller announced that veteran rock band Bon Jovi would headline the event.

A third national musical act will be announced in July, along with several local bands and a celebrity master of ceremonies, said Kim Marrotta, Miller's director of corporate social responsibility.

Formed in 1986, the Goo Goo Dolls currently are working on their eighth studio album, set for release later this year. The band's most recent release, was a 2004 live album recorded in Buffalo.

The Goo Goo Dolls' hits include "Name," "Slide," "Dizzy," and "Black Balloon."

Miller is attempting to appeal to a wide range of music fans through its choice of bands, Marrotta said.

The concert is part of a daylong event called the Big Brew-Ha that will take place on the Miller Park grounds. The event is expected to attract 30,000 people. Festivities, including the concert, are free for Miller employees and the general public.

Tickets are being distributed to the general public through television, radio and newspaper promotions and through distributor promotions at grocery stores, restaurants and taverns in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine and Kenosha counties. Miller also is giving away two pairs of tickets each day through Aug. 20 to Wisconsin and Illinois residents who tour Miller's Milwaukee brewery. http://www.millerbrewing.com/aboutmiller/150anniversary.asp

My friend works for one of Miller's largest clients in the Milwaukee area and her boss is going to give her tickets as we wanted to see Bon Jovi... and OMG, now Goo Goo Dolls! *EEEEE*

well, i'm about 5 hours from milwaukee by car... so without Erin and her connections... we'd be bust!!  :-/ ;)

That is GREAT news since I am not TOO far away...
I can't even BEGIN to imagine how chaotic a "free" show will be with the Goos and Bon Jovi. It was crazy enuff when I PAID to see them twice!  :eyeroll:

they chaos will ensue trying to get tickets!  tickets are free, but you still have to have a ticket in order to get INTO the miller park venue to see the goo goo dolls & bon jovi!

Well, I am to the point that I am litterly going to be BEGGING for tickets from my vendors, sales ppl, family, friends and strangers!!!!!!!!!!!   :-/

Its going to be NUTZ trying to see this show I believe!  They are really hyping it up!

I checked into hotels downtown several months ago when they announced Bon Jovi was doing a "free" concert and all hotels were sold out at that point almost everywhere except some really pricy hotel..don't remember the name...had 2 rooms left.  I was at the Bon Jovi concert in Vegas a few months back and a lot of the fans I talked to had booked rooms in Milwaukee assuming the concet was open to the general public..now it sounds like it is going to be a tough gig to get in to :-[

DANG!  Hotels already filled- wow!  Pfister and Hilton are pricey ones downtown.......Hotel Metro is nice-- but the arent cheap either.

:-/ Well guess IF I was able to get more then 1 set of tixs and gave the other set to some Goofriends-- guess I am going to have to have them stay at my house ----- DARN!!   ;)

I live in WI, not far from milwaukee, and it is hard as hell to get tickets. But it is fate for me to go, i think, my 2 fav. bands to do a show together again. I really think and hope that its fate :)

it is gonna be hard to get seats.. i saw an ad today, i'll have to keep my ears open to watch channel it was but it was to write in and say why you were the one who deserved to go to the show and the winner gets free tickets..

also as for hotel rooms, i know that it's most convenient to stay in milwaukee or whatever but i live about ten minutes from miller park and it might be easier to even stay in cities like brookfield or new berlin(where i live..).. they have nice hotels and it's not far at all!
