Title: Is it just me or...[vent warning] Post by DrPepperGoo87 on May 9th, 2005, 11:39pm does the fact that the Goos are waiting until September to start touring just plain blow? I might not get to see them! :'( I'll probably be in boot camp...I thought I was doing something good for the world and what do I get in return? A swift kick in the arse. Man, this sucks!! It does for me but I'm sure you guys are just dancing around in your underwear and all happy that they're even touring at all. I am too but damn it, I might be gone or on leave and what are the chances that when I get out of boot camp that within those two weeks I get off, the Goos will be anywhere close enough for me to see them live, which is nowhere near a "popular venue" area in Ohio. I feel like exploding. I thought I was finally gonna be able to see them and now the chances are very nill to none. Why me? It almost makes me cry...I just might. After those two weeks, God only knows when I'll get another chance while in active duty!! Do you think I'm overreacting? :-/ I don't wanna wait another year or two to see them...I've lived without seeing them my whole life, I shouldn't have to wait any longer. PS I realize how naive I sound and I realize that I should have been ready for something like this by joining the Navy but this is so important to me, ya know? |

Title: Re: Is it just me or...[vent warning] Post by Rock2J on May 10th, 2005, 3:25am Hey.. I haven't seen them before either. But I'm from Asia and I'm resigned to the fact that I'll have to fly overseas to catch a Goo concert. It may take more than a couple of years. I'm hoping they would still be around then. |

Title: Re: Is it just me or...[vent warning] Post by Dream of Goo on May 10th, 2005, 7:23am No i dont think your over reacting - even though u may feel it sounds like it. I haven't met them yet so im hoping they will come to the uk at a time that i can go - i especially want 2 go to a meet and greet cos than i know for definite i can meet them - but concert is the next best thing - better be front row though. Dont worry im sure your time will come - i think these guys will be around for some time - i hope this isnt there last album. The other day i was so geered up to go to Dearborn, MI but i realised it will cost me 1, 500 and i might not even meet them even though in July i could go!! I spent the whole of sunday afternoon on the net looking at hotels and flights and other costs and i have my whole plan written down but its all futile - no one will let me go alone to america where i have never been and the cost of seeing them at the golf concert is 13.00 but everything on top of that is alot (i.e flight) . So u ask me planning all this, am i the one who is going crazy? lol Anyway the next day i realised i will just have to wait till they come over or until im little older and making some proper money - cos im student at moment and my exams r like in 3 weeks- so i better go and revise now.. but get yr future together and everything else like seeing the goos im sure will work out. Have some hope and dont lose it. |

Title: Re: Is it just me or...[vent warning] Post by Skkyer on May 10th, 2005, 7:47am Plans are still in the liquid stage. September is when they think they will start touring, it could be earlier. The Goos do play just for the military! So it is possible you could see them on a carrier or port where us poor civilians can't - just think of that! Also, people in the military are BIG concert goers. So if the Goos play anywhere close to where you are stationed, believe me, you'll be going with a lot of your buddies. That means party before the concert, during the concert and after the concert. (Did I mention military party quite a bit? LOL!! I believe it has to do with how hard they work and how serious their job is. ) The only time you won't be able to see them is during boot camp. After that, your chances are great!! This is from someone who has been in the military. So hang in there, all is not lost! |

Title: Re: Is it just me or...[vent warning] Post by sarah713goo on May 10th, 2005, 2:09pm no, definitely not overreacting...i'll be a freshman in college w/ no car in the middle of nowhere this fall...unless I can make a trip home one weekend or something I most likely won't be able to see them :( |

Title: Re: Is it just me or...[vent warning] Post by SassyMay on May 10th, 2005, 2:28pm well it's kinda of a bittersweet sitiation for me because well they tour in september which my b-day is sept 3rd so it will be like a b-day present but the bad thing is i'll have to miss out on school and i'll be in 6th grade so i will have alot of catching up to do.but that's nowhere near as big as a problem as yours.look it'll all turn out fine in the long run.and that's really nice that your in the navy!i would have the guts to do that! |

Title: Re: Is it just me or...[vent warning] Post by DrPepperGoo87 on May 10th, 2005, 8:28pm I'm seriously thinking about asking to go to boot camp later on in the year. I'm pretty sure that you can go earlier but I'm not so sure that you can extend your ship date. This is really stressing :(...I really wanted to see them this year...actually since back in 97 but circumstances wouldn't allow me. The money won't be a problem for me but the means of travel might if I have to go too far. I could try to go to that Dearborn concert. When is that, btw? I think it would be cool to go with some of you on a meet n greet, that is if I was invited. Not many of you really know me and I dunno what plans you have. I know I'm changing the subject but how many of you are going? Have you already got tickets and travel set up? I live in southern Ohio so MI would be about a 7 hour drive, I believe. That's a little extreme but since it's for the Goos, I'd be more than happy to do it. Also, is the concert just for the Goos or will there be other artists there? Oh, and I guess a "your welcome for joining the Navy" is in order...I'm really glad to know that you appreciate what I'm doing for this country. Helping this country is one of the many reasons why I joined. ;D |
