Title: Long live World of Goo! Post by rideonthegootrain on Apr 16th, 2005, 12:39pm I brought Gutterflower mainly out of curiousity, but now I'm hooked. What album should I buy next? I've tried to get my housemates to listen to them, but they say it's another example of my bad taste in music. Feel free to correct me but I'm beginning to think Gutterflower may not be their best album I can't stand people who force their opinions on me. We are having a house party tonight so I will be definately playing some of Gutterflower in protest, and thingers crossed I may find some new Goo fans! I'm really glad to have found this place where like minded people can share their love of goo without derision. Long live World of Goo! |

Title: Re: Long live World of Goo! Post by SassyMay on Apr 16th, 2005, 1:27pm All thier cds are great but dizzy up the girl and superstar carwash are an absolute must.Hold me up is awesome as well and I love what I learned about ego, opinion, art& commerce.I was hooked after my little boy took a liking to broadway. The more I listened to it the more I loved it.Gutterflower is awesome but all their cds are as well.I can't decide which one I love the best. They rock my world in different ways.Oh and of course you gotta get Live in Buffalo it has a concert dvd with the cd.It's awesome got it in my dvd player right now and the cd is in my car stereo!!They are an awesome band unmatched by any other if for nothing else than their personal relationship with their fans.you should read the chat transcripts from where they chatted with us last year they are the best !!Sorry this is my favorite conversation and I love to see new people becoming Goo fans!!!Welcome!! :) :claps: |

Title: Re: Long live World of Goo! Post by Dream of Goo on Apr 16th, 2005, 1:32pm :)Hello, I just joined the msg board a few days ago and its been great meeting goo fans... yeh like u, i know people who haven't heard about them at all and if they do they r not bothered. i woz takin to a fellow uk fan on here too and we both agree that the goo's r underated here in the uk. I thought Gutterflower album woz cool and showed how goo goo dolls music was bettering their last album, i love the songs big machine, here is gone and over on it.. but all fans can have different views..nothing bad.. You probably already have dizzy up the girl album with the infamous 'iris' song. after i bought this album and gutterflower i bought ego, opinion, art and commerce - thats an album with all theire songs prior to the release of dizzy up the girl. I got ego, opinion art and commerce album out of curiosity cos i wanted to know how their sound woz before 'iris'. There some cool songs on it. :D hope this helps. Have you seen the goo's live in buffalo? the dvd's out..its gr8. |

Title: Re: Long live World of Goo! Post by AmyJo on Apr 16th, 2005, 2:43pm You simply must have THEM ALL, at the very least from Superstar Car Wash all the way to Live In Buffalo. Their earlier stuff may take a few listens to get used to but once you do, you'll never be able to pick a favorite. I first got hooked on LIB then worked my way backwards. We had SSCW in our collection back when it was first released (our favorite DJ in Chicago fell in love with "We Are the Normal" and urged everyone to buy it so we did...but at the time I guess I was just to young and stupid to appreciate it...now I can't live without it!) You will find that you will feverishly listen to one CD for a few days, then your mood will shift and you'll feel like a different one for a while. For weeks I was stuck on A Boy Named Goo but lately I've gone back to LIB. In a few days after that I'll pop in EOAC or SSCW again. The beauty of the Goos (reason #485) is that they have evolved so much and each CD they made speaks to you in a different way. There is a CD for every mood, occasion, or emotion that you might be experiencing, unlike other bands who sound the same year after stinking year. Welcome to Goo Fan-dom...the point of NO RETURN (not that anyone would want to leave anyway....) |

Title: Re: Long live World of Goo! Post by Shadgoo32 on Apr 16th, 2005, 4:10pm Actually, in my opinion, i think Gutterflower is 1 of the best. At least at this moment in time. Mainly cuz of the moods. DUTG and SCW are a must, but so is ABNG. That's my suggestions. |

Title: Re: Long live World of Goo! Post by DrPepperGoo87 on Apr 18th, 2005, 9:00pm :claps:YAY FOR YOU DISCOVERING GOO!! You have just entered a world of Gooey Greatness! I'm only sorry that you just recently became a fan but now is better than never!! ;D Here's what I recommend you get... Superstar Car Wash, A Boy Named Goo, Dizzy Up The Girl, Gutterflower, and Live In Buffalo: July '04 They are all definite must-haves!! Believe Me! I first became hooked on the Goos in '98 but I wish I had known of them so much sooner! I blame my age...I'm only 18 now - born Feb 21, '87. I was 11 when I heard their song "Black Balloon" played on a local radio station here in Ohio. I quickly found out who they were and what other music they had out...then I became a really big fan of the Goo Goo Dolls and their music. I could go on for hours about how awesome they are to me but I don't wanna bore ya to death. Let me just say there is no one like the Goo Goo Dolls out in the music biz. If I had to say who they sounded most similar to I couldn't because their music is so original. Hope you get all those cd's...trust us, it's more than worth your money!! |

Title: Re: Long live World of Goo! Post by ShanGooFan on Apr 19th, 2005, 7:57am I agree with everyone here ... you really have to get them all. But if you're on a budget and can only get one right now, I'd honestly recommend Superstar Carwash. That's still my favorite album to date....there's just something about it. And, Eva's right... most of us have the B-sides and can hook you up with other stuff. |

Title: Re: Long live World of Goo! Post by Iris74 on Apr 19th, 2005, 4:55pm After Gutterflower, DEFINITELY SuperStarCarWash is the way to go. Dizzy up the Girl is great too, but you've probably heard a bunch of those songs on the radio and such. SSCW is a whole new world of Goo. |
