Title: Singles
Post by Gutterflower on Apr 1st, 2005, 9:35pm
If you could choose one song from a previous Goo album to be a single, what song would it be? For me, it would be 'All Eyes On Me' just because I think it's awesome ;D

Fallin' Down  I think they would have gotten bigger earlier if they'd released that one.

I totally agree,  SSCW is such a great album, it's hard to believe their fame came much later.   What was the single off this anyway?

They released We Are the Normal for sure, there's even a video for it.  Never heard it back then though.

No way I can pick just one song for this, so I'll pick out some of my faves that I think would've been successful for the Goos.......

Off "SSCW" - "So Far Away"
Off "ABNG" - "Eyes Wide Open"
Off "DUTG" - "Bulletproof"
Off "GF" - "Up, Up, Up"  (why oh why did they not release this Robby song?!?! It's freakin' brilliant!)

"Fallin" Down" was released as a single [promo], and also on a sampler [promo]with "Name," "Burnin' Up" and "Naked."

"Eyes Wide Open" was released on a sampler [promo], with "Name" and "Stop The World."

My choices would be "So Far Away" or "Cuz You're Gone" because they're my absolute favorites. :rockin:

"Nothing Can Change You" is another favorite of mine, and was released on a sampler single [promo], along with "Slide," and "Acoustic #3 on another."

"Stand Alone" would have been an awesome Robby single, which was on the pre-release of ABNG, but taken off the CD once George left the band [for obvious reasons], and replaced with "Disconnected" and "Slave Girl."

Don't even get me started on Robby songs. "Up, Up, Up" is a brilliant song! So is "Smash" and "Tucked Away." The Robster is underestimated, and unappreciated by the media. :tantrum:

That's OK, we all love Robby!

I wish they would re-record "Nothing Can Change You." They kick ass on that song! :pepper:

And "I Want To Distroy You!" Robby did such a great job on that song!

I was thinking more along the lines of a single release that goes to RADIO to choose.

Just because a song gets released on a promo sampler doesn't technically count it as a SINGLE RELEASE.

Still I stand by my choices......... I just wish that they'd also thrown in another Robby song somewhere along the line.  That man deserves more credit   :P

I agree, many Robby songs would be outstanding to release!! I agree with Raven, "Up, Up, up" or "Tucked Away" would've been good singles.

My family (who have been unwillingly Goo-saturated for many years now) and I all thought "What A Scene" was a sure-fire hit for a single, what with the "na na na"s in it, I'm still surprised it didn't get released, in a way...

Yeah but if they did release "What A Scene" they would have HAD to do a radio edit as there are a few too many "na na"'s - over 30 I think?

If I'm not mistaken, Think About Me was suppose to be a single I think...*shrugs* that may have been a rumour. Ummm, I spoke to Robby back in 02 about making Tucked Away a single he just laughed and said that there was too much pressure...poor Robby I woulda loved to hear a single from him (off of GF)...most non-obssessed goo fans don't even know Robby sings...it really bothers me, once outside a concert venue a couple of girls were speaking to me and they were like who's that guy, the crazy one ...I was like Robby?? I showed them a pic I brought with me and they're were like yeah him!! Robby doesn't get enough recognition in my opinion...Anyway if I could choose my singles would have definitely been

Extra Pale -- my favourite Robby song on dutg
Hate This Place -- when my friend Ray told me that the next single from dutg was Black Balloon I said nah, I doubt that, I think it's gonna be Hate This Place lol well obviously I was wrong but I wish it was a single, it's such a great song.
Tucked Away -- this song just kicks, Robby singing this live is unbelievably awesome
Truth Is A Whisper -- what can I say about this one, it's just great, I love the prose Johnny writes "rhythm of silence that beats through your mind"

Ha, you think Robby doesn't get enough reconization, what about Mike? Yeah, I agree that not very many people know that Robby even sings, but more peoples probably don't even know Mike's name. How sad is that? :'(

Acoustic #3 is an amazing song, but it would be too short for the radio
