I saw this posted on AG and Robin's board and thought I'd post it here too. �For once in my life living in the Detroit area actually benefits me. I live about 10 minutes from Dearborn and I'm so freakin' excited right now I can't contain myself!!! :rockin: :rockin: Must look into tickets right now.

The Goo Goo Dolls will perform a concert after the final round of the Ford Senior Players Championship scheduled for July 7-10 at The Players Club of Michigan in Dearborn. The concert, sponsored by Ford, will he held on the 18th green at the conclusion of the final round. For sponsorship and ticket information, call the tournament office at 313-441-0300. To purchase tickets, call 866-377-2849 or order online at Advance week-long tickets are $85 each, a $10 discount. Advance one-day tickets are $25; $30 at the gate.

Okay ... I just called and talked to the people arranging the tournament. You can purchase a "good any day" ticket for $25, if you order in adance, that you can use on July 10th for the Goo show. It's GA. The guy said they Fed Ex your ticket to you so there's a $7.00 shipping fee. He suggested if you know you're going to need more than one ticket to hold off and wait until you know exactly how many you need since the shipping is so high.

So who's in for this? I'm so excited right now. These tickets are so inexpensive I might bring my daughter.

He was curious how I found out about it so I told him all about our Goo boards. He was excited to know that we would all be going out of our freakin' minds for a live Goo show. I told him we were a passionate bunch and he told me that's why they signed them on ... they were hoping the Goos would draw attention to the tourney ... Golf smolf ... it's ALL about the Goos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sigh...i can't go anyway, because my son's birthday is July 9th.  Somehow I think he'd be a liiiitle upset if I took off to a Goo show instead of giving him a 9th birthday party.

Dammit, those boys better get their butts on the road soon!!

Hmmm, well, I think I may just have to catch it.  Kinda far though.  Well, it's not that bad.  About 4 hours, maybe 5 or 6 because you can count on me getting lost.
I just may have to make that one.   Now I am excited!

That's what it looks like. It says they play on the 18th hole of the final round which would be July 10. I can call tomorrow and confirm.

I called this morning and the man confirmed that it's July 10th ... that's a Sunday if you're interested. I wonder when the Goos will officially announce it on their site :thinkin:

Raven .... it looks like after all these years we're actually going to meet. Are you going to bring your kids? My daughter, who will be 8 by then, is soooo excited to go. This will be her first concert. I think my hubby's gonna go too.

Good question. I have a friend who works for Ford and usually goes every year. I'll email her and ask her. The way it was written though it looked to me like a full show. I've already called the guy and talked to him like three times now. I'll call him again as a last resort.

I just got a reply from my friend and she said that last year Hootie and the Blowfish did a 3/4 set. If anyone wants to know for sure call the 313 # that's in the Free Press article. I don't want to bug the guy again.

***edit*** Okay...updated info here. Silvergirl from AGs board called and spoke to someone who told her it would be a 90 minute set...WOO HOO sounds good to me! I hope this helps answer some questions. Also, Silvergirl is compiling a list of hotels and addresses in the area so you may want to check out AGs board later for that info. if you're interested in making the trip.

Hi Shannon! I posted about this in another thread before I found this one, so forgive me about posting it again. :D

I am planning on going to the Dearborn show, and my hubby is coming with me. Maybe our hubby's can hang together? I know how guy's feel when they are there alone, surrounded by us women. :hahaha:

I have two daughters, with my youngest being 17. The youngest one will be in Florida the week of the Dearborn show, so she won't be able to make it. My oldest daughter hasn't made a decision yet, so I don't know if she is going, or not? She is a photography/journalism major in college, and is constantly busy working, or interviewing and photographing touring bands, etc. The older they get, the less we see them. They both love Goo though. :bowdown:

I can't wait to meet you Shannon! It looks like it's finally going to happen! We live so close too. I look forward to meeting you, and hanging out with you up in Dearborn, MI. Well known for the infamous Dearborn Village! :hahaha:

I bought 2 tickets today! My friend :pals: who lives up in Wisconsin is going to meet me south of Chicago (I live about 2.5 hours south of Chicago) and we're going to drive over together!  She booked the hotel for us today, I think we're staying at the Dearborn Quality Inn which if I remember correctly, is about 3.5 miles from the place.

BTW, thanks for the heads up regarding how long the set will be!  :woohoo:

Does anyone know if you have to pay for parking at the golf course????  I know.. I know... we can call and ask but I thought I'd ask here first! LOL

WOOHOO! A GOOey July! YEEHAW!  PLUS, I'm hoping to see Bon Jovi in August when they help Miller brewing company celebrate their 150th! YEAH!

I am still debating if I am going to go. I REALLY want to, only problem is I have school the next day(stupid summer clinicals) and it will take me about 6 hours.  I am not that great with driving directions, so it may take more than that. So I am going to ask, what would you do?

WHAT day exactly are they playing?  This might be something I could pull off ( I live in Reno ) but I need details and the darn PGA website lacks the information I need.  Help!   :cry:

well you have some options.. you can let fate decide for you and flip a coin.. heads, you go... tails, you don't.  no doing 2 out of 3 though LOL

print off driving direction from randmcnally.com and just follow them.  I've not had any problems with the directions that randmcnally.com gives.  that'll also give you an estimated timed drive.


--OR--

if you don't feel comfortable driving yourself, why don't you check out bus/train possibilities.  especially with the price of gas going up this summer, that might be your better option and let someone else do the driving!

--OR--

print directions and drag someone along with you and make them drive and you navigate (if you're good at reading maps & directions)


If you really want to go, I say go for it! You live once right? You don't want to live with regrets!  Just check out your $$ situation and go for it!

They play on Sunday July 10th on the 18th green after the last round of golf. Someone who went last year told me it was mid-afternnon when the headliner went on. They are supposedly doing a 90 minute show. It's in Dearborn which is about 15-20 minutes from the main Detroit airport.

A Goo-fest would be great. I'll have to think of some places in Dearborn that would be cool to hang out at. I don't hang out in Dearborn all that often so I'm not sure. But I have a friend who grew up there and knows all the cool places to hang. I'll check with her.

that's great!  my friend Michelle who lives in Dearborn says the hot spot is..um... shoot, now I can't remember the name of it! LOL  I think it was called Lava, but I'm not sure.

I see there's another thread here.. kind of a roll call of who's going... i'm going to post on that thread too and see who's interested in a goo-fest!
