Title: Hubby's becoming a Goober
Post by blessed_by_goo on Mar 17th, 2005, 12:17am
I don't know what's gotten in to him, but it all used to be the rolling of the eyes whenever I start talkin Goo. Or the heavy sigh or somethin similar. For some reason in the last week my hubby is askin Goo questions, in the sense that he's lookin for Goo knowledge. I of coarse happily obliged. I had to shut my self up though, I didn't want to over kill, which when it comes to Goo I have a tendancy to do. Then he tells me the other night while were out riding around, havin coffee, hey why don't you put in one of your Goo cd's......  :faint: Now here was a weird one... we got home the other afternoon, kids were napping and he says ..... if your in the mood to watch it... I'd like to see that LIA..... I was like IN THE MOOD???? Is he INSANE... When it comes to Goo I'm ALWAYS in the mood. LOL! He likes Alaska. But then tonight was funny, I was havin one of those nights where you got nothin but Goo on the brain, were out grocery shoppin and I start seein Goo everywhere..... Packed with GOOdness, GOOd to the last drop, GOOd till .... So we are then over in the pet section and we're by the fish stuff and HE SAYS ...hey check this out. There was one of those post signs you stick in your fish tank It read GOO LOVES YOU! Now we all know it read GOD, but the D looks like another O. And even if it didn't look like an O, I was amazed that my hubby of all people had enough GOO on the brain to pick up on it!!! WHOHOO, maybe I've converted him, he's slowly comin out of the closet!!!! YAY.

WOW!!!!  It's really nice for your hubby to ask to watch/listen to Goo.  My hubby knows I am obsessed with them.  He knows that I am just sooooo in love with John!!!!!  He totally understands my love of goo and thinks its pretty cool!!!  Last week a couple of guys from Iowa came to Louisiana on business, and he informed me that one of their girlfriends are a big Goo fan!!!!  I am always happy to hear that.

He knows that when they tour again, I will try to make as many shows that happens to be within my realm (because of my kiddies).

I Know exactly what you mean about trying to make as many shows as possible. I got kids too. (9 & 3) I live in Maine and have intentions of makin whatever hits between here and CT. My mom lives in CT. Plus I'm working the hubby, to try for the Buffalo area show as well, depending on where they do the last show. I know about the lovin Johnny thing. I told Hubby he ain't got a snowflakes chance in hell when it comes to Johnny. But feeling are mutual with the chick on desperate housewifes (hes got it for her) LOL

HeHe...I can so relate to y'all.  When I met my husband 10 yrs ago he was severely into country (which isn't entirely a bad thing)  But I think he's finally come 'round to the way of the Goo.   I have to laugh whenever he says something like "ya know they really are good" or else when we're in the car (which only seems to play Goo cds) he'll say with a smile "this is their best song"   no matter what song is playing.   And yes, we are going to see them whenever they tour again.  This is especially exciting to me as I've never seen them live :)

LOL!!!!  I really don't have intentions on bringing my hubby to the shows, because I really want to focus ALL my attention to goo.  However, he might insist to join me if they come close enough to us.  The last concert I attended, he came and (of course) we were tooo late to get on the floor(gen. admission).  I WAS SOOOOO MAD!!!!!! :( :'(  Since my kids are 5 and 3, he might HAVE to stay home with them --- ;) hehehe!!!  I have full intentions to do whatever I have to in order to meet them!!!!!  Am I right on this issue????   --- DAMN RIGHT!!!!  :nanner:

My hubby jokingly tells me if I ever get a chance to be with Johnny (like that would ever happen!) it's ok with him.  *sigh*  well, makes for a great fantasy anyway!  I'm sure I'm not alone on this thinking, am I? ::)

LOL! LOL!  I know exactly what you mean!!!  Even though my hubby has never told me that ----- I'm sure he knows that it's my fantasy----  :faint:.  I agree --- like it would ever happen to me --- I wouldn't have the luck!!!!!!  However, I would NEVER turn Johnny down - LMAO  :daydream:

I know I told mine he wasn't coming! I think I may of hurt his feelings so I then told him when and if they play Maine, he can come to THAT one. As it would more than likely be a General Adm. show. My man is pretty buff, he used to be a cop, so I could use him to fight for the front. But I know what ya mean about focusing....cuz I can't feel like I can really cut loose with him there, I would be to apprehensive. I mean I am married with two kids, I wouldn't want him to view me as wacked out.

Mine said they same, probably cuz he knows it would never happen! BUT if I ever did get a chance ..... I got news for him I wouldn't think twice! I'm glad to hear so many of us are close enough to our hubby's to have these conversations with them. It's healthy!!! That's really awesome!

My husband asked if I wanted to goto .38 special in August and to Cinderella, Quiet Riot, Firehouse in July! I said NOPE! he said why I said cuz I'm savin for the Goo! He said well it don't cost that much to goto Goo. I said it does when you goto like 5,6,7, or so shows and 5-6 are outta state and I have to pay for gas and lodging (if I ain't lucky enough to shack up with Johnny) and food. and yes I said ALL that! He was pickin his jaw up off the floor. I was like hello, don't act SOOOO suprised. I mean I been mothering your kids for the last 9 yrs, It's time to go back and be who I am!!!! before I wrinkle!

OMG!!! I'm cracking up soooo much at you youngsters!!! the hubby and I just celebrated 19 yrs. and I told him back in the day(when I discoved the Goo's) that if Johnny ever knocked on the door and said he was here to take me away that I would be gone in a second and he could keep the kids  ::) well, once he got over that  lol  he's a little better with them now days...he's usually the one putting in the cd's and he's actually bobbing his head and trying to get into the music  (it's totally cute to watch this) and I got the LIB cd/dvd set yesterday for my b-day and was totally surprised when he didn't get upset when I watched it a thousand times  lol
and when I told him about the poster, he actually suggested getting it framed I almost fainted  lol
there must be something in the water that our hubbies are drinking  lol  whatever it is it sure is good!!!

You guy's are too funny! My hubby is finally on the Goo train and I do bring him to the concerts with me. I had the same thoughts about not being able to cut loose, but believe me it's possible! I go Johnny crazy at every concert and my hubby has no problem with it. He actually thinks it's cool to see me be a young, crazy, highschool girl drooling over the lead singer! When I met Johnny and got a couple hugs from him, all night I went on and on and my husband told me word for word how Johnny hugged me and what it looked like.  To this day out of the blue I sometimes say " I hugged Johhny Rzeznik" and he just laughs and says " yes you did".  So Girls, I know it's fun to hang with the other girls and have a good time not being a wife or mommy for a few hours, but you'd might be surprised how well your hubby could handle it......................... Sounds like we all have very cool other halfs!

gosh do i wish my brothers were like that!!!
See  a few yrs ago they didn't mind goo at all.
my little bro(Jeremiah, big bro:Jean) loved Broadway he called Johnny:"The Broadway Man" and my mom thought it was so cute so he had to listen it every day on the way home from school. But now all of a sudden they cannot absolutley stand goo, hate goo, want goo dead and gone!!!
they keep saying they're gonna go to buffalo and kill them except for Robby they love Robby and George(because he hated Johnny) but they had Johhny and Mike!!!!
Theyu are so narrow minded always talking about Metallica this Metallica that.I'm so sick of Metallica!!!
And i'm so tired of having to watch Some kind of monstor!!!!!!
It's a wonder they're still a band they argue so much!!!
I don't know what got into them one day they just started hating goo!?!?!
How could anyone???? My mom doesn't even want them to listen to Metallica but my dad says "Oh it'll be alright"
sorry just had to vent

My hubby absolutely loves the guys. I trained him very early, LOL! ;)

He starts marking Goo info all over the calendar beginning the first week of every year. He knows where Goo is before I do. I guess he wants to know where to find me, and how much money he will need to save up, LOL! :hahaha:

My hubby likes the Goos but not quite like I do. He's more into Fuel. But he totally supports my need to see the Goos and even travel to see them. He even went with me to the June 30th private show in Buffalo last year. He stayed back at the hotel with kids (ages 7 & 4) and took them swimming while I went to the show with Goo friends. I tell my hubby he's awesome all the time because he sees and encourages my need to have something for myself, that makes me feel happy, that is separate from being a mom and wife. My hubby has gone to Goo shows with me before and I think it helped him understand. The Goos are fabulous live ... I think it helped give him perspective. Plus, it gave him a chance to see me let loose and have a good time. And, that's what it all about... supporting each other and having a good time together.

GOO keeps us all grounded! Funny one time while in a bad mood, daughter wanted to ask me something and I over heard her telling Daddy, no I'll wait till we get in the car and Mom hears a few Goo songs first! I LMAO, silently of coarse. I was amazed she was observant enough to wait till I hit a GOOd moment!

How sweet!!!  -- About 3 weeks ago my hubby was watching tv and yelled at me to go see --- he thought it was John, but it was Bon Jovi.  It was a nice jesture, anyway.

I was telling him about some of the posts here and now he realizes I'm NOT the only goo obssessed fan!
