Yeah, what's up with that?

I've noticed that in the sort of...break...in So Far Away...when John sings "Am I wrong...I don't know..." etc etc that there seems to be someone yelling in the background. Does anyone know who it is, and WHAT they're yelling? After "I don't know" it sounds like they're saying "What have I done wrong" or something...

Please tell me I'm not imagining this whole thing. You guys hear this too, right?!

This was my favourite Goo song for AGES. It changes periodically. After 'So Far Away' it was 'Big Machine'. It might be 'Here is Gone' now. Then again I've developed a whole new appreciation for 'Lucky Star' after seeing the Storytellers performance where Robby talks about writing it...made me feel bad for him...the song is great though...

Tangents are my speciality, especially when they relate to Goo  ::)

I've always thought the person yelling was Robby but now I'm not too sure and I can never make out what the person is yelling, it's "so far away" lmao...and since we're on the topic of difficult to hear goo lyrics, does anyone know what the very last line John sings in On The Lie?? I hear this: "On the lie, she was, on the lie, on the lie, he was, on the lie (he's always ____ and lying???)" I can't make out what I've put in brackets.

oooh and I just remembered lol, wtf does Johnny mean when he says..."and I didn't get those things, things that you can't grow" ...What things? I was thinking maybe he meant develop a love for someone, like he couldn't make the person 'grow' to love him or whatever *shrugs*

Now that I've re-listened to it, I think it might be, "He's always drinkin' and lyin'", but I've seen it as, "It's all a stinkin' lie" on some sites.  But that's just a guess.  Who knows.

I've heard people ask those questions so many times... one of us should actually ask them LoL!

In "So Far Away," it's Robby screaming... he's saying something about "rock 'n' roll..." a lot people hear that :: shrug ::

"On the Lie," I can definitely say that John says, "It's all a stinkin' lie!"

Yea, its Robby screaming in So Far Away, and its something 'rock and roll' or else its 'tell me something I don't know' coz that was the original name of the song.

As for On The Lie, I never wondered about it, I was always pretty sure the line was "its all a big stinkin lieeee"

And the things you can't grow? Babies? Drugs? Who knows?  His lyrics are soooo cryptic!

Yes he is screaming something  ROCK N ROLL and then there's even a second period of screamin right after the ROCK N ROLL. It's funny you should all mention that, cuz I've tried and tried to figure it out, but Robby sounds so distant from the mics.... but I finally figured out what it reminds me of...... You know at the end of Dances with Wolves when the indian guy, who Dances had to gain trust from, he screams Shumani to tonka ow wa chi.... over and over and over again. This part in the song ~ Robby reminds me of that.

I asked this very same question months ago....maybe even last year. No one really knows. We assumed it was Robby saying something about Rock and Roll but none of us were sure.

I listened VERY CAREFULLY to So Far Away on the MP3 (those in-your-ear-phones make everything sound so pristine.....) and it sure sounded like Robby going "ROCK AND ROLL!" (like the guy in the crowd on LIB.)  

But even if it's something different, I'm going to pretend that's the real story because frankly, I love the idea of Robby just getting crazy and belting that out at some point in time and somebody going, "HEY!  Let's stick that on a song but make it kind of muted...!"  So that's my little scenario in my head and I'm stickin' to it.

Rogue, the only way I know it says Ri instead of we is because that's what's on the lyrics in the CD case.  And apparently this Ri person has much better manners than I do because instead of saying "sh*t " she says "sugar."  Then as the song goes, Gram is a little more daring and ventures out there to say "shoot," and Mom just goes for it and says, "Sh*t I don't know what she'll do."  

At least that's how my warped little mind interprets it....

OK, I always thought it was one of them yelling, "I hate this f*cking world!" in the background...it doesn't sound like "rock and roll" at all to me but...I have been wrong before!  :)

:I love the way the band thinks up little ways to twist things. Like in So Far away.... Robby does the yelliing from .....so far away. When they're playing live, John usually while singin Dizzy, he'll sing I'm drownin in your dizzy noise I wanna feel you....and he'll leave it to the audience to actually scream instead of singin the word scream. Also.....SLIDE,  usually when he's doin it acoustically, while singin Slide he'll go I wanna wake up where you are, and instead of singin I won't say anything at all, he actually WON'T sing anything at all during that stretch. I LOVE when he does that !!!! He makes me CrAzY  :kookoo: :kookoo: :kookoo
