Title: Re: ALL Fans PLEASE Help - Goo Up For Most Wanted Post by LouAndNic on Feb 5th, 2005, 11:01am Thanks so much Shannon :) Just noticed your signature.... we've been reading that Keith Urban has collaborated with Bon Jovi for a track on their new album and don't know too much about him - he sounds pretty cool though! Are we right in thinking he's more of a country star? Thanks again L&N |

Title: Re: ALL Fans PLEASE Help - Goo Up For Most Wanted Post by RogueUK on Feb 5th, 2005, 1:24pm Yes, I'm intrigued by this Keith Urban guy too. I have no idea who he is... I've voted five times. Is that naughty? ??? ;) I figure that other people will be doing it for OTHER bands. And those bands will get played on radio here anyway! Goo needs all the help it can get though! |

Yes, the rumor is true. Keith just collaborated with Bon Jovi for a song. Bon Jovi stated he wasn't sure if he was gonna use it on the album yet or not. Keith is an Australian native country music star who's popularity is exploding right now...but his guitar playing style is VERY rock. He just won CMA (country music association) Male Vocalist of the Year. He just did a CMT Crossroads episode with John Fogerty...one of his guitar idols. He is probably one of the most talented guitar players around today. He is simply amazing to watch play...I've seen him live 4 times since last June and have two shows I'm going to in Canada in April. LOL ... I'm out of control addicted. He's touring around the UK and Ireland with Bryan Adams in May 2005. If you have the opportunity to check him out ... do it! He is such an amazing performer. One live show and you will be hooked for life. LOL ... I'm gonna stop here. I could go on and on for hours about Keith. I will vote again right now. |

Title: Re: ALL Fans PLEASE Help - Goo Up For Most Wanted Post by LouAndNic on Feb 8th, 2005, 6:37am Well we listened to the whole show and no chart was run - we're still confused and will be trying to phone the radio station later to see if they've changed the format of the show or maybe they just don't run the chart on a monday ??? It's all very weird as the website still says:- "You choose the tunes for a whole hour on the Virgin Radio Most Wanted chart. It's part of our evening show with Ben Jones. Catch him playing some of today's best new music between 7.00pm and 10.00pm every weekday. Votes now being taken for Tuesday 8 February - you can vote right up until 7.00pm. We're not broadcasting Most Wanted on New Year's Day." Thanks so much to everyone for voting - we're gonna keep on voting and see if the chart runs tonight - will keep you posted if we find out anything. If anyone else can help solve the mystery we'd love to know what's going on?!! L&N |
||
Title: Mystery solved Post by LouAndNic on Feb 8th, 2005, 8:19am Well we've just rung Virgin Radio and said that we listened to the whole show last night and didn't hear the chart and so wondered what was going on. The reply..... "the format of the show has changed" - they no longer do the chart countdown :'( When we said that it's still up on the website and we've been voting they said they'll change it. We feel so disheartened - it feels like an uphill battle in the UK :( we know for a fact that LOADS of UK fans voted for it last night and that lots of fellow international goo friends did too. It's such a shame - everyone worked so hard. All we can suggest now is that we get requesting instead - we'll definitely be e-mailing Ben Jones and ask that he play GALB tonight for all the disappointed people who voted for the chart last night. L&N |

Title: Re: Goo Up For Most Wanted UK: The Outcome Post by LouAndNic on Feb 8th, 2005, 12:05pm Well we've just heard some better news Lea..... A fellow UK Goo fan has been rung by Virgin this afternoon!!!! :lol: It seems that they're DEFINITELY gonna play GALB tonight - yay!!!! Not 100% sure which show but the fellow fan e-mailed Ben Jones so that's who we'll be listening too. We also e-mailed Ben ourselves and asked him to play it for all the disappointed Goo fans and how we feel that we're up against it in the UK, and how all we want to do is hear our fave band on the radio and have a chance of seeing them over here again. Maybe this is the start of better things to come.... fingers crossed. L&N |

Title: Re: Goo Up For Most Wanted UK: The Outcome Post by RogueUK on Feb 8th, 2005, 12:13pm Yay! Yay yay! Friggin' fantastic! ;D That IS better news. Thanks L&N! I know what you mean about it being an uphill struggle. Everyone I talk to about the Goos has either NEVER heard of them or thinks they split up right after 'Iris'. 'Iris' is all anyone here knows, when they know anything at all. Often the response is "Goo...who? What? Huh?" :'( My mum was all ready to ring Warner Brothers the other day...I was explaining to her about how the Goos don't have videos and stuff here, and how they never tour here...and she got quite annoyed on my behalf. She was like "That's not very fair on their fans!" *sigh* tell us about it mum. They're my favourite band ever and no-one knows who they are. And it makes me sad because people here are missing out. Missing out on something great. :( I'm working on converting my mum, haha. I got her to listen to 'Iris' and 'Galb' although she said she preferred the original version of 'galb'. Parents, eh? This was a bit of a random tangent. Just ignore me. :-[ |

If more people were aware of the band they would be no stopping them over here. We've said before that we still can't get over the fact that tickets were exchanging hands for approx 70 a pair at The Astoria when they only cost 15 to buy - people were so desperate to get in as it had sold out. It all comes down to people just not knowing - not knowing they have a single out, therefore not knowing they could buy it and that single not charting (back in 2002) hence not much support now. It seems like it's down to us fans to make people aware of what's going on. Let's face it, if we didn't have the internet ourselves we probably wouldn't know what was happening. Your Mum sounds really cool btw and you're obviously doing a great job converting people to Goo :thumbsup: Even our Mum was tapping away with her foot when it came on the radio tonight ;D ;D With "Give A Little Bit" we've perhaps got the best chance in ages to get requesting - it's a cover version of an old UK song, it's doing really well in America and there are quite a few UK fans online now that are prepared to muck in. How can we fail?!! ;) Take care L&N |

Title: Re: Goo in the UK: Whoo Hoo Post by LouAndNic on Feb 10th, 2005, 7:19am We've been thinking (yeh, dangerous we know! lol) - how about we try and target Radio 2 as well? You can e-mail the Radio 2 dj's here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/index.shtml Radio 2 seems to play varied music and with GALB being a Supertramp cover we thought it could do well - heck, they even have Phantom Planet on their playlist at the moment! Although there's no Goo right now, we thought that should be rectified!!! How about Steve Wright, Bob Harris and Jonathon Ross' shows? Guess we'll have to keep on top of Virgin Radio too - their dj's can be e-mailed here http://www.virginradio.co.uk/djsshows/djs/index.html Ben Jones, Steve Harris, Russ Williams and Kelly would probably be worth a shot. (basically america and england would be joined by land) and then i wouldn't have to get the money for a plane ticket. hehehe that probably made no sense to most people. i'm doing gcse geography in case any of you were wondering how the hell i managed to know all that. goo's not only make great music but are a great way to help you revise and remember important facts for geography gcse papers. lol |
