Title: Goo related creations
Post by RogueUK on Jan 14th, 2005, 8:16am
Ok, so, I haven't made a new thread, in like, 12 hours. The compulsion finally overcame me. :P

Anyway, I know I can't be the only show-off on here ;) and I can't believe there isn't already a thread like this (you can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) so here it is. I know there are some really talented PSP artists on here (you know who you are ;D ) and there must be people who work with other media who make fantastic Goo-related things, so come on and post them already!

I made THIS Johnny blend last night, and I'm particularly pleased with it:

Johnny, Robby, Buffalo skyline...et voila!

EDITED: Darn red crosses! Photobucket has picked NOW to mess with me. >:( Fortunately, I can outsmart it...

I'll be back ;)

Heh, told you so. Screw you, photobucket! :P

I know to the Americans the date on that thingy above looks the wrong way round, but to the Brits it'll be right ;)

Johnny love

and further Robby love

Ok, that's enough nonsense from me. Now someone else post something, quick. Before it starts looking like I just made this thread to show off. ROFL.

OH!

I love threads like this! You've done such a wonderful job. Good on you! ;)

Anyway, I have a ton of stuff that I've made. And once I'm at home (instead of at work putting things off, teehee!) I'll post some of mine as well!

I made a background for my livejournal (http://www.livejournal.com/users/thebigmachine).

Haha. My stuff's gonna look good until about five seconds after you post yours, and then mine's all gonna look awful by comparison!

But I don't mind ;) You better post it, I bet it's all awesome.

(I KNEW you knew who you were...hee hee. ;) )

Thank you Jani :D You are great for saying they're great. Yeah, I was pleased with that first Johnny one, and it took ages so I feel I'm justified in being proud.

These ones are just the tip of the iceberg ;) But I'm doing my best to be restrained LOL.

ETA: NICE background Sarah...did YOU tint the gutterflower icon blue? And what's the effect you've put over the piccie of the boys? It's texturted somehow...how did ya do that?

Meh, I'm lusting after Paintshop 9 now. I have 8. But I NEED that chalk tool!

Almost missed this!  :o
LOve, love, LOVE the pics! Especially the "Underrated" Robby one, and, of course, the "England loves Goo" one - although my "Britain loves Goo" pic is MUCH better! :P
And thanks for putting the date on the Buffalo pic in the right order...;) the British ordering of dates makes more sense logically anyway! :D OK, so I'm biased...

Thanks!! Yeah, I put a canvas texture on it. And I did tint the gutterflower too. I have it in a wide array of colours. I'll post some tonight.  :D

Hey, thanks UrbanAndGooFan - although you confused me by using 'guys' in the plural. All that stuff was mine...yeah, I went a bit over the top... :-[ Oh, and your siggy looks great, by the way  ;D

Hey pOGo, you should have a bash at it, it's really not that hard, and if *I* can do it, anyone can! I've only just learned to do it. This time last month, I couldn't have told you how to OPEN Paintshop Pro! lol. Ok bit of an exaggeration but you get my point. One day I just got tired of feeling like everyone else could do something I couldn't, so I just started to play around with it. The more you play around the more you learn, although personally I'm still a beginner. And if your brother knows how to use it, then he could give you a few tips to get you started. Also you can find some great tutorials on the net to help you.

And then you can post your stuff in this thread  ;)

Sarah, you lied to me, you said you were gonna post some of your creations! And I was excited about seeing them too...come on, don't make me beg, girl!  ;D

I wanted to have something I made for my siggy here. The trouble is, there's too much stuff to choose between!

I'm leaning towards the Robby banner (like that narrows it down  ::) and you don't know how many I DIDN'T post...lol) The one with the pic from storytellers and the other of him at the computer...and the two quotes. It's not the BEST one in terms of showing off what I can do (lol...I sound so arrogant!) but I just like it. I think it's the quotes....

Yeah, THAT'S what it is... ::)

But I don't like the writing in the middle where it says his name. It looks...amateurish  :-/

I'll have to play about with it some, see if I can get it to a condition I'm happy with. Then again, I like the England one. Bah. Decisions decisions.

I'm sorry! I ended up going out of town and didn't do it before I left.  Here are a few things I've done.

This is another background I made:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sarah-beth/Web/ggdsbackground.jpg
(It's probably too big to post, so I'll just do the link thing...)

Here's the gutterflowers that I've tinted. I pasted them all on a pretty background. They were really easy. :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sarah-beth/Web/gutterflowerline.jpg

I made both these ages ago and have never actually used either of them. Haha.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sarah-beth/Web/ggdslogo5.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sarah-beth/Web/goo.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sarah-beth/Web/banner.jpg

Here's the original that I did. I don't think it looks as good in colour, so I switched it to black and white.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sarah-beth/Web/newsilly.jpg

This is something I started when WOG was having their banner competition. I never bothered to finish it... so I guess it's still a work in progress. (It's not very good! Haha.)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sarah-beth/Web/bannerattempt1.jpg

I probably have more stuff somewhere because of all the silly websites I've made over the years. If I find them I'll post them too.  ;)

Title: Re: Goo related creations
Post by RogueUK on Jan 17th, 2005, 11:04am
Oh they're so pretty!  ;D *applauds*

The gutterflowers are beeyooteeful...how did you do that? You said it was easy...surely you didn't just use the fill tool? That wouldn't work...would it?

I really like the font you used on the two Johnny banners. And your av does look better in black and white...it minimises the contrast in the quality of the pics, the picture of you being of better quality than the Johnny pic (and you're very pretty, by the way  :D )

And the banner of all the guys IS good. And I want Robby's hat. I had a hat kinda like that, and I lost it... :(

Title: Re: Goo related creations
Post by Sarah on Jan 17th, 2005, 1:25pm
Aw, thanks! :D

There is a "Hue" adjustment option in Photoshop so I just slide the bar in whatever direction and it changes all the colours and the shades in the Gutterflower logos. It's pretty cool!

I should go and find that font again, now that you mention it. I've got a new computer since, and while I've gone a font-downloading spree, I should really get that one again. I liked it.

Thanks by the way for the comments on the banner with all three guys. If you want to play with it and improve it at all, feel free. I haven't done anything with it in ages. So if you're ever in the mood to tweak and play with stuff, feel free. ;D

Sarah, I love the thing you did with the hue of the gutterflowers logos  :) I wish I could cut pictures out better, unless the background is a solid color, i have to cut them out by hand, tracing the picture w/ the mouse lol its a pain.

I felt bad about the lack of Mike-love in this thread, so I made a Mike banner ;D I seriously feel that there should be more Mike-love in the world, ya know. Mike rocks.

Although I had a bit of a crisis about text...I usually put lyrics on my Johnny and Robby creations, and I couldn't very well put "Bang bang bang" on Mike's...LOL. So I just left it blank.

http://home.doramail.com/gutterflower/mikebanner.jpg

And there's this...which is a contender for my sig banner...

http://home.doramail.com/gutterflower/WOGorange.jpg

Playing about with colours/saturation and stuff...

http://home.doramail.com/gutterflower/LIBthreedark.jpg

And a couple of (rather cheesy) Robby banners...

http://home.doramail.com/gutterflower/cheesy3.jpg

http://home.doramail.com/gutterflower/robbynoisetext.jpg

Sorry for posting MORE...lol. But it makes me feel justified in spending so much time on PSP fiddling with Goos pics. I mean, otherwise it might look like I had some sort of scary obssession...and I can't have people thinking that, now can I? ;)

Thank you :D ...though I'm not sure they deserve to be called 'awesome'!

Now, the next thing I'm gonna post is something I mentioned to you ages ago...and it was just something that kinda bugged me, so I decided to give it a go. It's not very good, but in my defence, it was a darn hard project and I think it was brave of me to even attempt it!

http://home.doramail.com/gutterflower/RobbyLolGrey.jpg

Same pic, cropped and with a colourize effect on it...

http://home.doramail.com/gutterflower/RobbyLolcolourblue.jpg

I had the OPPOSITE problem to you, Sarah...the pic of me was WORSE quality than the one of Robby. You can tell when you look at the image  :-/ My webcam sucks, I have a digital cam but haven't installed it yet. Maybe when I can get a decent photo of me I'll attempt it again and it'll look better. But for now, that's the best I can do.

And my hand had to be pieced together from several different pics to get the angle of the fingers right and stuff...curse you, Rzeznik, and your big manly hand for being in the way!  >:( LOL

Title: Re: Goo related creations
Post by Sarah on Jan 19th, 2005, 1:23pm
Haha. You're hilarious. And yes, I certainly applaud your efforts!! I know I had a hard enough time with mine as well... I had to angle my head right and make it large enough that it didn't look like Johnny was pinching my tiny head between his fingers. Hahah.

For your first attempt, I think it's awesome! It's a tough picture you're working on, and the hand looks really good!

I'm just thinking out loud here, but maybe to get the angle on your hand that you want... perhaps you could set your webcam/digi cam directly in front of you, and look at the original picture on your monitor and hold your hand in position and snap the picture. If you get what I mean?

Just an idea. ;)

Whoa Sarah, that's COOL...I want one, dammit! It's more or less impossible to get Goo merch in stores here, and I'm unable to buy online because I don't have a credit card...yeah, I've bitched about this before on here, you guys are probably getting sick of it...

I always get nervous when people tell me I'm 'hilarious'. I wonder if they mean hilarious in a good way or in a 'let's all point and laugh' kinda way...  :-/

Lol I'm glad you appreciate my efforts! It's difficult to appreciate just how hard that was to do...although the more I look at it, the worse I think it is!  :-/

I just wish I had the capacity to take better quality pics of myself, because you're really fighting a losing battle if you start with pics which have such an obvious quality difference and try to merge them in some way...ah well. I did my best! My best sucked, but I did it anyway!!

I do know what you mean about trying to get the angle of the hand right...but it's surprisingly difficult to keep your hand in that position for any length of time when there's actually no-one there and you're just cupping air...lol.

The look on my face amuses me in that pic. Although I DID draw the line at doing the Rzeznik-tongue-thingy...lol.

I know what you mean about the mechandise stuff... I live in Canada, small town Canada, and I can barely walk into a store and find their CDs let alone a poster or t-shirt!

All I did was buy that special transfer paper from a stationary store, print my Photoshop pictures on it and then ironed it on!

I did this tonight too!!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sarah-beth/Goo/Sarah-Bag01.jpg

This makes me want to squeal I love it so much!!

Title: Re: Goo related creations
Post by RogueUK on Jan 19th, 2005, 10:12pm
Sarah, that bag rocks!  ;D

And that's a darn good idea you have there.

Hmmm. *starts to scheme*

I presume you have to have a really good quality printer for the images to come out so well...and you transfer them by ironing them on...? Are the transfers good quality...I mean it's not likely to disintergrate in the wash or anything?

I don't really have access to a printer right now...but I could ARRANGE to have access...heheh oh I'm so excited now  ;D And this way, I can have PERSONALISED Goo merch, which is surely the best thing in the world, ever?! (Apart from the Goos themselves, naturally....)

That's the perfect solution to my lack of Goo merchandise problem. And yeah, I know that it's probably illegal...but it's not my damn fault that I can't get official merch here! I'd GLADLY pay for it if only I COULD!

Which province are you in? I have friends in Manitoba...and I live with a girl who comes from Toronto. I've always wanted to visit Canada.  :D

Title: Re: Goo related creations
Post by Sarah on Jan 19th, 2005, 10:21pm
I suppose it is in violation of some copyright law, but I'm not selling anything and making any money off their images... and if having this kinda stuff is a violation, wouldn't all our signatures and stuff be a violation too?
I don't think we're causing any harm. We're surely not going into business or anything, nor do we have plans to rip them off. If anything this is free promotion for them! ;)

Yeah, I just got a new printer, and I pick a really high quality print option when I print. And the transfer paper was rather expensive, as far as paper goes, but it's still less than buying just one shirt!

I got 10 pages for $20 Canadian. Like I said, that's still cheaper than just one t-shirt. ;)

I'm in Ontario, by the way. :)

Oh yeah! And the transfer paper I bought comes with some guarantee that it'll not fade, and it will hold up to regular wear. I just have to make sure that the first few times I wash it inside out.

Title: Re: Goo related creations
Post by RogueUK on Jan 19th, 2005, 10:50pm
Yeah, free publicity, that's a better way to look at it...and I should be on their payroll as it is, I've converted five people to Goo-ism in the last two weeks!

(Goo-ism? that's a new one on me...lol whatever!)

I'm quite proud of that, actually.  ;D

But someone else said they sounded like Bon Jovi  :-X possibly the worst thing you could say to a Goo fan, LMAO. And not very original either. Was thinking of getting her to listen to Sex Maggot. Then we'll see if she thinks they're like Bon Jovi. Heh heh.  ;)

Anyway...cool that the paper has a guarantee and stuff. Apparently it'll cost me about 12, which as you said is still cheaper than a t-shirt would be...and you're getting the equivalent of TEN t-shirts, so you could even go do far as to say that's a bargain! (Ok, so you still have to buy the actual t-shirts...but ssssh, it sounds better this way   ;) )

I found them on eBay actually! They came as a set of three, but I lost one of them ( :'( ). I imagine they'd be extremely simple to make though, all you'd have to do is find the button part in a craft store.

Maybe that will be my next adventure!! ;)

I had this thing when I was a kid that made badges...

Found it on Amazon, it says they don't stock it but it'll give you an idea of what I mean:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/glance/-/kids/B000296JY0/qid=1106269072/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_10_4/202-7742799-0798220

And I'm with you by the way, girlnamedgrace. I love badges, and I would LOVE a Goo badge! My bag is sadly missing one of those. And my bag is gonna have a gutterflower patch just as soon as I get hold of this photo transfer paper stuff. I'm addicted to badges and patches, yup  :D

Thank you Emily...though once again I feel 'awesome' is stretching it slightly! And I like the t-shirt, it rocks   :D

And...would I be the only one on here who doesn't know what TeamGoo is? *feels dumb*

I've made some wallpaper and a few banners. I really like doing this stuff, but I need more experience with the programs. But, considering I've had no training in this, my creations aren't TOO bad.  :D

You can see them at my website ( Gooberz.us (http://www.gooberz.us/gooberz0105/gooberz0105.html) ) while I decrease their size so I can post them here. I've also made some wallpapers at my subdomains, LC Rocks (http://www.gooberz.us/lc/index.html)and Bleeding Romeo (http://gooberz.us/thejulietdagger/index.html).

:D

I'm always impressed with people who make wallpapers...I find the dimensions really tricky to work with. Banners are more managable, heh heh. Anything more than 200 pixels high by 500 pixels wide and I just get lost!

I forgot about THESE guys...heh heh:

So much to comment on!! First off, I like the idea of making T-shirts and badges and things, very nifty! I've been thnking about making a Goo-related Tshirt for AGEs, but never came up with anything I really liked. :-/

Hey Lea, for the Mike sig, you could always have one of his more famous (and IMO, one of his best) quotes - "My karma and charisma brought fame to the band" Heh heh. And don;t worry 'bout the cheesiness of the Robby ones, I've suddenly realised looking through them that I've done a "knowing our two worlds.." one too. :P Whoops. ;) He has such great lyrics though!!

I like the dolls too, they're cool. I'll have to check out that doll bases site, if you ever 100% remember the name of it...:P

I've got a couple of blends I'll post, I'm still not amazingly happy with them, but heck, I've got to start Uni work and things again so I may as well post the ones I've done when I had the time. :P There's no specific size to them, which is a bit random, but what can I say, they all looked better at different sizes!! ;D

An Elmo/Goo blend - I love Elmo. I love Goo. "Pride" was one of their high points, I say! ;D
http://www.boomspeed.com/sazgoo/elmoblendthin.jpg

Robby blends. I'll get around  to doing John ones at some point, the Robby ideas just jumped out at me a little more, I guess...
http://www.boomspeed.com/sazgoo/2worlds.jpg

Heh, I had fun with the gradient tool on this one. ;)
http://www.boomspeed.com/sazgoo/robcockroach.jpg

This one's a bit bigger and a random size - it might take a bit to load.
http://www.boomspeed.com/sazgoo/robbyjustaboy2.jpg

There we go. Meh. Nothing to write home about, but it was fun!! I can see how these things can get addictive. ;)  And kudos to anyone who has the patience to do wallpapers - I agonise over what's going on in say 2 photos in a blend, but to do 10 or more for a wallpaper would probably take me WEEKs to be happy with it. :P

Wow Saz! :o 'nothing to write home about' indeed. You're clearly great at this! :D

Ok, that's it, I'm never posting anything I've made ever again...you are all much better at this than me!! lol.

I really love the second Robby one...did you download that font somewhere? I don't think I've ever seen it before...

Heh, maybe I'll put that on the Mike banner...I entertained thoughts of putting that "What did the drummer get on his IQ test? Drool." joke on it as well...

And glad to see I'm not the only one using cheesy lyrics... ;) it's just too tempting to use that one, isn't it? Although if my world and Robby's would INTERSECT, just the once, as opposed to colliding, then I'd be happy enough!

I know what you mean about wallpapers, Saz. I just don't even know where to start with them. So many pixels, so many pictures...it just gives me a headache! And there's so much potential for more to go wrong than with just a couple of pics...clearly, making wallpapers isn't for the faint-hearted (ie ME, haha)

The thing about doll base sites is that I've been to so many, I can't keep them straight in my head! Fortunately I made a note of a few of them...

www.Over-the-moon.org

There ya go :P happy now?

Right, I'm off to google for PSP tutorials. So maybe I can come back and be as good at this as you and Sarah! (Hey, I live in hope, ok? :P )

I've seen your icons before, BitterPills!

I'm trying to remember where, perhaps around the lj ggds communities I'm a part of, or I've visited your site at one point or another.

Either way, they're fab! ;D

:o BitterPills, those are frickin' FABULOUS!

Did you use animation shop to make the star flash on the one that says 'Buffalo's finest' ?

I haven't quite got the hang of making things move yet. lol. I've made a few blinkies but I don't really have the patience to do it ("So I have to draw in the dots? ONE PIXEL AT A TIME? You're winding me up, right?")

I really want to learn to do flashing and moving text...if anyone could explain it or knows of a link to a tutorial that explains it then PLEASE post ;D I'll be your friend.

Lol Sarah - you terrible human being, posting a link to a site that is RELEVANT to the topic! :P Lol I don't think it's remotely tacky, and I LOVE your wallpapers. ;D Mucho respect to you, I'm hopeless at making wallpapers.

ETA: AH! The pic of John with the doggy! I had never seen that one before. It's a chocolate lab I think...it's the cutest thingh ever!

The dog, I mean. Not Rzeznik. ;)

Although I expect to be disagreed with here. Violently. :hahaha:

Thanks, everyone  :D

These are the programs I use:

MGI Photo Suite SE
Jasc Paint Shop PRO 7
MicroSoft Paint Shop
Jasc Animation Shop 3

The animation/flash ones do take alot of time & practice  ;)

It's difficult to explain how to use these programs, you just have to keep playing around with them, that's how I learned by teaching myself :D

The animating software I use does it all automatically for me. It puts the effects on the text, and then you just click how you want to animate it (fading, moving left or right, up or down, etc.)

I find my software awkward though, maybe it's because I'm still such a newb at it, but I don't find it as easy to manipulate as Photoshop.

These are the only animations I've done:

I know, I'm such a nerd... it seems silly in retrospect, but I was all nervous and stuff about posting my link. Haha.

By the way, I made the Robby one with you in mind. I noticed that I had all kinds of John love on my site, so I needed a bit of Robby love too. I'd have some Mike love, but it isn't all that easy to find high res pictures of that boy!  ::)

;D I did notice your efforts to include some Robby love. There should be more Robby love in the world, it would make the world a better place.  ;)

I know what you mean about getting good Mike pics! They're very elusive. When you do get pics of him he's usually behind a drum kit and it's VERY hard to crop a drum kit out of a picture...  ::)

i can't believe i haven't clicked on this thread before!  seeing how it is like 7 pages long should have clued me in that it must be something good. . .i tell ya what, Goo has got some created fans!  there are some beautiful creations up here, love all the blends and purses and t-shirts. . .love it all!

here's some stuf****e i can share.  i would post a pic, but it's a tripod site and we all know how they love to leave little red x's in place of pics.  so here are the links to my Goo camo purse i made with some help from Robin.  the first is the body of the purse and the second is the strap.

http://deepfriedboot.tripod.com/id291.htm

http://deepfriedboot.tripod.com/id290.htm

and here is the link to that has some other creations.  some from other board members.  *hint, hint* if anyone would like to add anything i will be more than happy to add it to the site.  and there was my shameless plug in.  enjoy and keep more Goo creations coming. . . ;D

I love the camo purse! It looks fantastic! ;D

I've been sitting on an idea for another purse, but it's just a matter of coming across right bag.

The material of the one that I have is perfect, but the shape was awkward, so now I need one with a more accessible shape but the same fabric.

Anyway, I love your crafts! You should tell us some of your secrets!! (We're all quite a distance apart, it's not like we'll run into eachother in line somewhere! ;) ;) ;D )

it was me being extremely lazy!!  as always i put off doing things so when i finally got into it, i wanted to hurry up and get it done. . .when you sew the lining and the purse together, you sew them inside out.  then you have to leave one side open so you can turn it the right way around.  by the time that came, i was friggin' tired of sewing and just left a huge hole on the inside!!  it was that Goo sense tingling telling me that purse was made for bigger and better things. . . ;D

Wow, you guys have been busy! Hee hee, so much cool stuff to comment on! :D

Pinky Goo, that Robby photo manip scares the crap outta me...LMAO.

I like the Rzeznik 'pretty boys' one, it's very good ;D

And the other one has some of my favourite Goo lyrics ever. Gotta love "F*ckin' up takes practise, I feel I'm well rehearsed" ;)

PonderingMyFate - just...WOW! :o Now I have to hassle you for your techniques! How did you get that sort of...streaky lines effect in the John "God it's good to be alive" pic and the Robby "Lucky star" pic? It looks ace!

I also dunno how you resized that 'Lucky Star' pic of Robby without distorting it...unless there's a smaller one kicking around the net somewhere. The one I have stored is a HUGE version of that pic...

And is there a soft focus of some kind over Robby's face on the icon with the beads pic? I can see the TV lines kind of effect (very cool ;D ) But his face looks different somehow...maybe I'm just going mad.

Maybe I've forgotten what Robby looks like LMAO. That would never do!

Oh, and the pixel Goos are TOO cool! Although I'd like to hear why exactly they're infamous...?

DeviantArt! I LOVE that site!

Wow, some of you guys should give tuts on this stuff, you're amazing at it! Well done everyone! Goo would be proud! ;D

Or maybe scared in a 'they're stalking us via the medium of photoshop' kinda way :hahaha:

Would anyone be interested in having these for there webpages/profiles and such? If so, let me know, and I'll make some from any video you like, any part, with any text. Just let me know. *Offers Services*

;D Love this vid, especially that bit!

I have that on my MySpace profile, hee hee ;D

I'm getting really frustrated with PowerDVD though...both LIA and LIB are burned to my hard drive as PowerDVD files and I'm finding getting caps from then nigh on impossible...but I wanted to make LIB animations!  :'(
