Title: American Idol? Post by Shannon on Feb 28th, 2008, 9:11am Is anyone watching American Idol this season? I am and I have to say I'm blown away by David Archuleta. He is talented beyond his years. Did anyone see his performance of Imagine? That's one of my most favorite songs and his performance was so moving. It nearly brought me to tears. It's got to be one of the best AI performances ever. He's gonna be a superstar. Check it out if you didn't see it ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ilvWehHocE If you're watching, who are your favorites? |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by nmf009 on Feb 28th, 2008, 11:37am I swear I won't watch it every year and I always do... I'm still mourning poor Garrett. He got zero air time before the top 24 and then Simon ripped the kid apart because he was too pale. Then he got eliminated brutally. Then we found out he had his songs taken away from him. And at the end of the whole thing, he was still smiling and being positive. (I'm also interested in what would have happened if Simon told a contestant their skin was too dark. Because it's totally okay to insult the pale people who don't tan because they don't want cancer.) Attempting to stay on track, Amanda needs to go. And Kady or Alaina needs to go, because I can't tell them apart. |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by iris3732 on Feb 28th, 2008, 2:00pm I am watching. I am participating in a pool so it's kind of necessary....haha. David Archwhatever is amazing. Humble too, which is nice. I liked David Cook but then he mouthed off to Simon and I was like come on, dude. Haven't watched the girls from last night yet. But I love that short one with the big voice..Ramiele. |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by Shannon on Feb 28th, 2008, 2:41pm My daughter loves Ramiele. I really like Carly and Syesha. I also have a soft spot for Brooke. She's just so sweet. |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by rzezniksangel on Feb 28th, 2008, 5:29pm I think the majority of the girls were awful last night. The 70's are just not their time! I'm curious to see who (besides Amanda) will go home tonight. David is definitely the front runner right now...that kid has an amazing voice! I also really like Michael Johns (the australian guy).... |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by Shannon on Mar 1st, 2008, 11:25pm So what did everyone think of the eliminations this week? I was happy to see Jason go. I didn't think he was all that great and it annoyed me how he smiled at the camera all the time ... it seemed fake. I was shocked about Robby. I thought he did better than the other guy. I also thought Amanda should have gone instead of Alaina. |
||
Title: Re: American Idol? Post by rzezniksangel on Mar 2nd, 2008, 10:39am I'm still in shock between Amanda staying and Robby getting sent home. What are people thinking? |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by Shannon on Mar 2nd, 2008, 10:45am No kidding. Amanda better watch out this week. She's been in the bottom two the past two weeks. She could be a gonner soon if she doesn't choose a better song. What is the song theme this week? |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by ChickenCookie on Mar 2nd, 2008, 2:03pm I am old enough that I actually remember seeing David Archuletta win on Star Search. I thought it was great back then, but he's phenomenal now. I really think he's the frontrunner at this point. As for the girls, eh ... none of them really stand out for me right now. Guess we'll see when they narrow it down a bit. |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by nmf009 on Mar 8th, 2008, 10:54am So we all know David H was a stripper now, right? I accidentally came across a list of songs he danced to: Sexyback-Justin Timberlake Boogie Wonderland-Earth, Wind and Fire Shake That-Eminem feat. Nate Dogg Never Too Much-Luther Vandross Pictures of You-The Cure Glamorous-Fergie Temperature-Sean Paul About Us-Brooke Hogan feat. Paul Wall The Distance-Cake Love Rollercoaster-Red Hot Chili Peppers Smooth Criminal-Alien Ant Farm Iris-The Goo Goo Dolls Sweetness-Jimmy Eat World I'm In Luv (Wit A Stripper)-T-Pain I'm not gonna lie, if I was a stripper, some of those are EXCELLENT choices, but Iris might be the worst song ever to strip to. |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by iris3732 on May 13th, 2008, 2:16pm Giving this thread life again. Final three....who's it gonna be? For the pool I entered I predicted Carly would win so obviously I'm not gonna win any money. I'm rooting for David Cook now. Though I shudder to think what David A's dad will do to him if he doesn't win. Did you guys hear how he's not allowed backstage anymore? |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by Shannon on May 13th, 2008, 4:35pm I'm hoping for David Cook to win too. He's the one with the real star quality. I agree with the judges that Syesha would be great on Broadway. I'd love to see her end up there. David A. has a nice voice but his performing is boring and his songs sort of sound the same. David Cook is star quality. |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by nmf016 on May 13th, 2008, 5:45pm If I had to pick the one I dislike the least, it's Syesha. But she's pretty boring and she's gone after tomorrow night. I'm tired of David A. He sings slow songs every week and can't form a coherent sentence. I do feel pretty bad for him for having a crazy awful father though. He seems like a nice kid and he doesn't deserve that. David C... He fell out of favor with me early on when he was ripping off arrangements. I think he would have been better off if he managed to get the boot last week or this week because AI producers are going to take away any rock edge he'll want when he makes his next album. I think he'll win though. I'm going to miss Jason tonight. At first, he was okay, then he got really obnoxious because he was doing the same boring thing every week. But then he just stopped caring and gave awful performances and just laughed at criticism and I loved how he treated the whole thing like a joke. |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by rzezniksangel on May 13th, 2008, 6:21pm I too am hoping that David Cook wins it. After things started picking up a little a few weeks ago, I really started to enjoy his performances. David Archuleta just really bothers me...he doesn't have that star quality that he needs to survive in the music industry (and yes, I'm scared to see what his dad will do if he loses). I think Syesha is great, but would be best suited on Broadway... |

aaahhhh....I will never be able to get this song out of my head unless I post this. "Shake It" by Metro Station is another excellent choice for stripping. http://www.myspace.com/metrostation David Cook gets my vote. Peace, Calla |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by rzezniksangel on May 20th, 2008, 9:23pm Still holding out for David Cook....I thought he was great tonight. Too bad the judges didn't seem to agree... |
||
Title: Re: American Idol? Post by Shannon on May 20th, 2008, 10:12pm I thought so too. And, realistically, between the two David's, whose album would you buy and who would you go see live? For me, it's David Cook all the way. He's got the whole package. I thought he did great tonight too. And, I liked the 2nd song. I'm not sure why the judged didn't. I thought his U2 song was great too. I like that he alters the arrangements. He's unique. As much as I love David A.'s version of Imagine, all his songs really sound the same. |
||
Title: Re: American Idol? Post by nmf016 on May 20th, 2008, 10:25pm I thought David Cook was treated really unfairly. I personally probably won't buy either artist or become a fan, but they definitely weren't treated the same tonight. Titling David A the winner tonight was lame. I watch this show with two friends every week and we were comparing them. At least with David C, we know his music preferences and style. He was a 90s alt rock teen and you can tell that music influenced him. You know what kind of album he would want to put out and you know that he would insist upon having some control of what he does. With David A, there doesn't seem to be any influence. Right now, I have no idea what kind of music he likes or what he would like to put on an album. I'd imagine some songwriters will just write a bunch of ballads and he'll sing them. He's more like a robot that has a nice voice and does whatever someone else (Daddy) says. |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by Shannon on May 21st, 2008, 11:03am I agree with you 100% Nicole. It was like they were setting David A. up to win last night. David C. did everything the judges are always saying to do .... stay true to yourself, make the music your own and current. He did all of that and sang it well. David A. sings it well but like you said .... where's his influence in it. Also, Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me was identical to Elton's version. How is that making it current? I personally liked David C.'s 2nd song better too. David A. did Imagine again ... which is brilliant ... but where's the progression like David C. said? There is no progression with David A. It's always the same. He's boring after awhile. (I do give him kudos for Imagine though....that one gives me chills). I was so mad at the judges last night. It was completely unfair to David C. |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by Shannon on May 21st, 2008, 9:59pm Well hallelujah. I think America got it right. I thought for sure David A. would win. I was shocked and so happy it ended up David C. |

Ditto. I don't think I've been this excited about the finale since Season 1. What a pleasant surprise :) Also the judges all looked genuinely pleased that he won. I'm sure they would have reacted the same if David A. won, but since they didn't expect Cook to win it was nice to see them happy like that. |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by Shannon on May 22nd, 2008, 7:22am I also liked that Simon apologized to David C. I thought the judges were all unnecessarily harsh with him on Tuesday. At least Simon owned up to it and apologized. I never for once thought Tuesday's competition was a knock out as the judges made it seem. |

Title: Re: American Idol? Post by rzezniksangel on May 22nd, 2008, 6:25pm I was so excited when they announced David Cook as the winner last night. What a nice surprise. No one I've ever really liked on the show has ever won(except for Kelly Clarkson, but she doesn't count...lol). Now I can' t wait to see what kind of album he puts out! |
