David Cook Releases "The Last Goodbye," New Album Imminent David Cook's new album, "This Loud Morning," will be released in a couple months. In the meantime, fans can listen to his latest song, "The Last Goodbye," the first single from the album. And for those a little annoyed about the two-year-plus wait, Cook and company have provided a way for fans to get a copy for free. David Cook fans have reason to rejoice -- and with free music from the artist himself, no less. The long awaited sophomore album, "This Loud Morning," by the "American Idol" Season 7 winner is due to hit the stores at the end of June. Better yet, the first song from the album, "The Last Goodbye," premiered on American radio stations on April 19. Even better: Anyone who pre-orders Cook's new album from his website will get a free download of "The Last Goodbye." You can't blame a guy for trying to make it worth the wait. It's been almost two years since David Cook released a single from an album ("Permanent," May 2009). It has been nearly two and a half years since the release of his first album, a self-titled composition that has sold over 1.3 million copies to date (in the U. S.). So Cook fans were more than ready to hear something other than cover songs. Cook performed the Rolling Stones' "Jumpin' Jack Flash" on the "American Idol" stage in 2010. He also recorded the farewell song being used for the Season 10 results shows, the '80s classic "(Don't You) Forget About Me" by Simple Minds. Both songs were made available on iTunes. But that's not the same as having a new album hit the stores. The release is also generating some excitement in that Cook was the last "American Idol" finalist to score a platinum album (although Season 8's Adam Lambert is inching his way in that direction week by week). Many are wondering if he can follow up that album's success after so long a hiatus. "This Loud Morning," like its predecessor, features songs written by Cook and a host of noted co-writers like Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls, Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra, Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace, Brian Howes (who has producer hits for Hinder and "American Idol" alum Daughtry), and Max Martin (responsible for several Britney Spears, Pink, and Katy Perry hits as well as penning "Since U Been Gone" and "My Life Would Suck Without You" from "American Idol" Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson), and Marti Fredericksen (hard rock producer and songwriter partially responsible for Aerosmith's sound since mid-'90s and the co-writer of "American Idol" Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood's "Undo It" and "Mama's Song"). The album was produced by Matt Serletic, who has produced albums by Rob Thomas, Matchbox 20, Edwin McCain, Joe Cocker, Collective Soul, and "American Idol" Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks. Cook will perform "The Last Goodbye" live on the "American Idol" Top 7 results show Thursday, April 21. http://www.huliq.com/12092/david-cook-releases-last-goodbye-new-album-im minent
