Grammy-nominated trio brings show to MemAud By Bridget Mallon The Goo Goo Dolls’ career has spanned 25 years, 14 top-10 singles and more than 9 million in album sales. Tonight, they will bring their alternative rock music style to Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. The band, comprising John Rzeznik, Robby Takac and Mike Malinin, first gained widespread mainstream attention in 1995 for its album A Boy Named Goo, which became one of the most successful albums of the ’90s. However, Goo Goo Dolls reached the height of their popularity in the late ’90s when its song “Iris” was featured on the City of Angels soundtrack. After being featured on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay charts for 18 weeks, “Iris” was nominated for three Grammys. In 2007, the band released a greatest hits CD but continues to record new music. Overall, the Goo Goo Dolls have been nominated for four Grammys, and lead singer John Rzeznik received an award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2008. The Goo Goo Dolls show tonight will feature music from the band’s career and its most recent release, Something for the Rest of Us, which came out in 2010. http://www.thepost.ohiou.edu/content/grammy-nominated-trio-brings-show-m emaud
